Valérien Ismaël: Blackburn Rovers Head Coach
lraC replied to DE.'s topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
He is not blind to it, he has simply accepted that the signings were big risks and highly likely to fail. I cannot feel sorry for someone, who has just sat back and accepted that, as he is as much to blame as the other two stooges and the owners. -

News From Other Leagues

Hardly a star manager, but Bowyer has managed to leverage his 'steady', if unsuccessful, tenure with us into an interesting and reasonably respectable lower league career. - Got Blackpool out of L2 via the playoffs in 2017, amid the dying embers of the Oyston regime. Kept them mid-table in L1 in 2018 (no idea what the expectations were!) before resigning. - Couldn't keep Bradford from relegation after a late hire in 2019 (they were already pretty much doomed), but then fired after a promising start in L2 trailed off. - After a spell as Derby's u23s manager, almost got Salford into the L2 playoffs as interim manager in 2021 (oddly on a 'loan' from Derby!). Made permanent manager for 2022 but only managed 10th (70 points, which would just make the playoffs in some years...) and sacked. - Ended up in the Scottish Championship with Dundee, where he won the league in 2023, but rather randomly immediately resigned after the season. - Pulled off a great escape with Burton (9 points from safety with a bit over half the season to spare) in L1 last year, but in some trouble to start the year. I'd guess there some Salford and Bradford supporters may not be too fond of him, but a couple promotions and decent firefighting jobs ain't too shabby for who was originally a rather obscure youth coach. -
Once upon a day, that would have happened!

Not a great spectacle last night, but I don't think we are quite as bad as some would say on here. I noticed a stat on Rovers underperforming on XG on the screens before the game by about 3 goals, so I put this together (bored at work, XG means nothing I know). We've been comfortably outperforming the opposition on XG recently. Yes, XG doesn't win you points, but perhaps indicative that we aren't as awful as som would suggest -

I don't think tbh changing the system is the answer as on balance of play we were quite competitive all game against Swansea. The issue is we conceded two really sloppy goals which were all about individual mistakes rather than anything to do with the shape. I am not really sure how we mitigate for that, but Id be worried if we change the system we end up confusing the players further. -
Definitely not an upgrade on Brittain.

How true. 2 or 3 injuries and we will have a squad that is barely league one standard. Imagine losing Cantwell and Alebiosu from the starting 11. Even if they avoid injury I bet we wouldn't turn down decent offers for either of them in January -

I expect a few of them will get moved out pretty quickly like the last lot and they'll bring in a few more and try again. Fans just say oh it's ok only cheap punts some work some don't, fine but who benefits from the revolving door policy ? Because it isn't the team or club it's the wheeler's and dealers bringing them in and out in quick succession who do. -

Rover down South replied to Herbie6590's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Put this on the Swansea thread. We just don’t have the quality to play the system he’s playing. Alebiosu is doing all the work down the right hand side. Miroshita had little impact and I’ve seen absolutely nothing from Kargbo to suggest he ever wears a Rovers shirt again. Similar down the left with Ribeiro. I would bring Wharton back in and play Ohashi off Gudjohnsen which I’ve always felt would be his better role. Be a good opportunity after an hour to introduce Tyjon into games. Main issue is the lack of centre backs. With Carter out, our back up would be Pickering & Atcheson, but we have to utilise what we have. No combination of two centre backs we have are anywhere near Batth & Hyam. Not saying we will storm up the league, but it might help stop us shipping goals and I’ve seen nothing from any of our three recognised strikers playing as a lone striker to suggest it’s working. Until January where I’m hoping the penny will have dropped that we need Championship experience and not cheap European gambles, it’s about damage limitation. I would consider…… Keep playing the same system and the same team, we’ll be rooted to the bottom of the league by Christmas. -
Yet won away 1-0 at Cardiff.

I'm usually dead against a back 3, as I don't really think they work for teams at our level, but after last nights abysmal effort, I think a few things need to change: ----------------------Toth ------------Miller---Wharton---McLoughlin Alebiosu-------------------------------------Riberio -----------------Tronstad---TGH ------Morishita-------------------Cantwell --------------------Ohashi All of our good attacking play comes from the full backs. You could switch Riberio out for Hedges, if needed. We don't have any really good wingers. Kargbo is dreadful, Morishita is ineffective, De Neve doesn't get any games, Hedges is ok but nothing special. I think Morishita will have more success playing a bit more centrally, he struggles outwide, you could try Hendrikson in that role but he looked someway off being good enough in the time he's been on the pitch also. Having 3 centre backs, including 2 that have a good amount of Championship experience might benefit us defensively, where we have looked suspect. Might suit Miller more as well, he's not looked too good in a flat back 4. -
Valérien Ismaël: Blackburn Rovers Head Coach
arbitro replied to DE.'s topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
If there was anything about Ismael he would be using the decisions that have gone against us this season into a siege mentality making us horrible to play against by taking a leaf out of Nathan Jones' book. Push the boundaries with the match officials and the laws. However I don't think he nous or football intelligence to do this. -
He may be in time (assuming we still have him in 2/3 years), but isn't now Yes

A whole load of ex-pro's graduated from the PFA's leaders in football business course last month, as they do every year. If we were so desperate for an ex-pro to fulfil the role invented for Rudy then there are lots of qualified players out there. Rudy (shock horror) isn't one of them.

I still don't think the Cantwell one was a penalty. I'm also sick to the back teeth of the lack of ownership of our problems and fans washing it away. Ref's don't score goals, neither do they concede them. They don't set the tactics, or the team up and they don't make transfers. Over the course of a season the worst teams are near the bottom, it's nothing to do with luck. It's to do with performing in a manner that results in an inability to gather points. We are where we are because we've been crap for the majority of the games we've played this season, the result against Hull and the performance against Ipswich have been the exception not the norm. This is nothing new, we were also crap for the vast majority of the season from November onward last year. I can't be arsed doing it but I bet if we put together a league table from December 2024 to now it would make for pretty grim reading. -

I cannot speak for everyone but people who I know who go were not 'duped.' After 15 years of this Venky's misrule and shambles it is quite clear the direction the club is going. All supporters need to unite to publicise this and, hopefully, get things to start changing! -
2025 Summer Transfer Thread. 😂
Rover down South replied to Upside Down's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Alebiosu spent the best part of ten years at Arsenal youth, so no coincidence he is standing out amongst the summer signings. In recent years, recruitment from European leagues has led us to just two decent signings in Kaminski & Tronstad. On the flip side, there were the likes of Wahlstedt & Telalovic. We now it appears have a squad full of players like this that we are relying on keeping us up! Last season we had a wealth of championship experience in Trav, Hyam, Dolan, Batth & Weimann. All replaced with European league gambles. I’ve not seen Baradji kick a ball yet, but I can pretty much assume he’ll be poor. What we saw in Kargbo I’m not sure. Downgrade on Markandy in my opinion. Recruitment has been absolutely dire. -
I think they call it being 'installed' for a specific purpose. By whom is where the real truth lies.

Remember going to Stoke a few years ago with a good noisy following that contrasted the half empty, silent, clearly disillusioned home sections that later turned to anger. I expect similar on Saturday. Rovers 1 Stoke 3 But the upper office will be happy as usual after pocketing revenue from 3k visiting fans and seeing their patsy in tech area giving more mins to their 'investments'.
