  2. Love the Bonny Inn. Still try to pop in there from time to time. Of the two pubs at Ramsgreave you'd have expected the Risjng Sun, which always looked down at heel, to have been the one to shut. Such as shame the Bull's Head has gone - it was a great pub in its day. Knew the family that ran the Knowles Arms in the 1960s Back to the Championship...
  3. Pratt played very well and I felt no worries when he was on the ball and when defending. Not much more to ask for really. The boy done good. On the wider topic, we don't have a Beckenbauer or a van Dijk at the club, a fact that JDT didn't understand and that cost us big time with the nonsensical passing the ball around in our box. It's good to have the Litherlands and Atchesons coming through but for me someone who is always fit and available and knows where row Z is gets my vote over silky passing out of defence but is a perpetual sick note (Carter/Wharton-esque). Who knows how Pratt will develop but as far as his first team debute is concerned I think the boy can be proud of that performance. Can he get better, sure, but for this week it's pat on the back time from me.
  4. Today
  5. Rovers under 18's are playing their Bolton counterparts today at 2 pm in the Lancashire FA Professional Youth Cup. The game was originally scheduled to be played at Bolton's Academy but has been switched to Brockhall although you wouldn't know as there is no mention anywhere on Rovers social media or website.
  6. OK then. Let me think... CB - Dennis the menace. CM - Rodger the Dodger LW - Billy Whizz ST - Can only be Roy of the Rovers can't it 😂 Fingers crossed!!!
  7. You might as well make some names up. Everyone else does, especially the club.
  8. I have extremely vague memories of being at my aunt and uncles to watch the Rovers vs. Derby Co. Playoff Semi Final, it was on ITV? I remember my dads excitement/nervousness walking back to where we lived in Beardwood. The first game I have some memories of being at was the Playoff Final itself at Wembley. Worth reliving, I dont know how 38 year old me would have coped with Newell missing the second penalty with just minutes to go....they always put you through it don't they?! A reminder the poll closes at midnight.
  9. As soon as we go into a game with a wave of optimism, we usually get beat. Normally against a team, at home, who aren't doing all that great in the league. This is a 100% winnable game but you know what Rovers are like. Heart says 2-0 win Head says 0-2 loss
  10. Preview for U21s game at Tamworth in the National League Cup tonight Rovers claiming in their preview that it is a 7pm kick off, Tamworth & BBC both state its 7:45. If anyone is going then it may be worth checking score/update
  11. Landlords were real characters back then. We had one called Shufty. One night my mate complained out his beer being cloudy. It was summer and the tap room window was open. It immediately overlooked the canal. Shufty just picked the glass up and threw it out of the window and into the canal. Another time we were complaining the fire was low in the taproom. Shufty came with a shovel full of coal and threw it on the taproom floor. He said “ Help yourself lads “? He had a big fish tank that he sometimes topped up with the dregs. You only knew there were goldfish in it when you saw their noses up against the sides of the tank. It’s a swingers club now. Funnily enough every time we pass it Mrs Shoelaces reminds me it’s a swingers club. I think she’s trying to tell me something !
  12. Blackburn end podcast said we have links to players for January anyone know who they are?
  13. Which still won't be a lot in the grand scheme of things and he earned his wages on Friday. Let's hope it continues and lets see the reaction on here when they've got rid and a ringer ends up between the sticks next time Toth is out. Like or rate Pears or not the squad is stronger with him as backup compared to what it would've been had they moved him out. He shouldn't be that hard to replace but he's an experienced Championship keeper and as i said for that you have to pay. They'll feel as always cheaper is better...
  14. With Marilyn! The Missus’ Aunty and Uncle, small world etc.
  15. Fans have spent thousands for a five day match. No guarantees of that, but less than two days on a decent wicket? Now theyve got to go sight seeing in Perth. We always had run a ball players like Gower, Botham, KP, Bairstow, etc. But they played like that naturally. Forcing others to emulate isn't helpful. Playing away is hard whatver the sport. You need an effective plan that minimises home advantage.

Stevenage (6.) 4-1-4-1 0:0 Doncasters results have seriously declined since they were in the play off spots in September. O'Riordans performances have in the main been described by the local press in Doncaster as "solid" (which is a comedown from the first couple of months of the season when he was being described as "exceptional"), and when fit, he does play pretty much every minute for them, but I would debate just how solid his performances have been given results over the past 2 months
  17. Complete arrogance. I think the fans are turning as well.
  18. I know someone who went to their gig at the 100 Club earlier this year Gav. He said it was the best gig he’d been to in many a year! (And he’s not even a punk really)
  19. Ken Boothe - Everything I Own
  20. Doncaster are 19th in League 1 and have conceded quite a lot of goals. He may have done well (unsure if a lot are just assuming he has done well or if he genuinely is) but he was nowhere near the first team when he left and no way should he be our main defensive reinforcement to essentially replace Hyam. As another body on top of a new signing, by all means.
  21. VI needs to work out some way of adding steel and resolve to our home performances, or risk further damage to our already dwindling support. I mean, what is so wrong about battling relentlessly and with passion for 90 minutes and against the odds wherever we are playing? There is something deeply concerning about a set up that can garner the kind of hard-nosed commitment we have seen repeatedly on the road, but which meekly accepts powder-puff performance in front of home fans, and it is up to the manager (coach) to iron out whatever psychological bumps are preventing equal measures of resolve and persistence at Ewood. On to the game. QPR are only 3 points ahead of us so this is a true 6 pointer. Their record this season is not dissimilar to our own, albeit they have scored more and conceded more than us. It is a club I've long held disdain for, ever since their plastic pitch in the 1980s gave an obvious and unfair advantage - an experiment that always seemed to work against the hard-grafting Rovers visiting Loftus Road. Having said that, we have enjoyed decent returns there in recent years..on and off. The Gerry Francis cast off club don't like travelling Norff, so perhaps there is a glimmer and shimmer about Wednesday's game under the Ewood floodlights...There won't be hordes from West London, that's for sure. On paper it is a nailed on draw. On form it is anybody's game. On reflection there will be a sparse collection of eyes on the game from the seating and terracing of Olde Ewoode Parke.. Football is of course a game of confidence and form, chance and chances, right place right time and right mess right now. It isn't clear what will be served on Wednesday, but I do hope it isn't another dollop of dosy downcast demeanour from the brave boys in blue and white. Hiding to nothing, Rovers 0 Sweaty Hoops 0 Hating the Home Form Rovers 0 Hula Hoops 2 Hooray for the faithful Rovers 2 Betty Boops 0 COY miserable home form Blues! Oh, and VENKYS OUT!
  22. Which is why they wanted him gone in summer. They will no doubt try again in January, especially so if Pears does ok in Toths absence. & if they succeed, then they will start with the low ball offers for Toths contract, which will fail, & "Greedy Toth" will be sold in the summer & replaced with another foreign punt. Flip a coin, will we get another Toth or another Wahlstedt?
  23. Literally a cheaper, younger (and to give him some credit) less injury prone version of JRC. As well as a convenient excuse not to sign TGH at the end of the season. As long as Rovers are in the Championship, he will mainly sit on the bench until it all comes full circle and a cheaper, younger replacement comes through the academy in a few years. And despite this, they still haven't been able to tie him down to a new contract yet
