  1. Past hour
  2. Shaw, Agnew, Shebby, Senior then choas without even a CEO until Waggot so why is this one going to be any different ? 'Cue the "Give the guy a chance ffs" brigade. When the writing on the tin says what's inside it that's what comes spilling out of it when it's opened. The most worrying post Waggot thing is the real CEO now has free reign without challenge this end. That is truly petrifying.
  3. Andy Zaltzman has a fascinating stat in his Observer column today. Across the world and in England & Wales except Headingley runs per wicket have been greater in the first innings, then 2nd, then 3rd and then 4th, as you might expect. At Headingley it is exactly the reverse - the best innings has been the 4th.
  4. Nothing ultimately changes until the owners change. The COO, the CEO and HoF are all paid employees, nothing more.
  5. Sorry to be an old fart, but this reminds me of seeing Genesis at the Amethyst Club in Preston. A quick google search tells me it was 30th September 1971 - no idea how much I paid but something online tells me that Genesis were paid £75 for it. My memory thinks there were only about 20 of us there. The Amethyst was a Thursday night residency at the Hibernia club on Avenham Lane and all sorts of other bands also played there around that time. I also saw them earlier that year at the Floral Hall in Southport with Lindisfarne and Van Der Graf Generator - the latter were top of the bill. Ticket price 50p.
  6. Don't see what difference it makes whom we have in this position... Ultimately the club's still being run by the same people..
  7. it matters not who our ceo is,the man really in charge is pasha, the new ceo will have the job of being the public figurehead and taking all the flack from the fans, snake like pasha will be still be slithering about in the background
  8. What annoys me about Buckley is that what he can do and bring can't really be taught. Some of his vision stuff is fantadtoc. But the stuff which is basic and can be taught he doesn't do. That three different managers haven't drummed it into him doesn't auger well but there's definitely a case of what could have been with the lad.
  9. Interestingly I watched it with the wife who has no interest in football. She enjoyed it too and had no idea prior to watching that they got relegated again. I think seeing her incredulity of the situation helped reinforce how nuts the whole thing was.
  10. Funniest series I've ever seen and not in a good way
  11. Having watched the documentaries- which really are excellent- I can't say I'm excited to have him here. Not sure Grayson was a bad shout, with 4 promotions for few failures at that point, but the contracts and the way the season went showed he was plenty culpable. The moment that stands out was Bain overseeing a machine that was brought to aid revoerely that none of the team used but that he did. Sunderland were a basket case club. So are we, so it's a good fit in that respect. The solution to some problems however - I'm far less confident of.
  12. One thing people overlook when it comes to cheap punts and clever work in the transfer market is that under the previous competent regime it was always combined with spending proper money on players too. Nelson and Mokoena came in on the cheap - at the same time we paid good money for Savage. We had punts on whether strikers like Fowler & Jeffers had anything in them - at the same time as paying for the likes of McCarthy and Santa Cruz. Nothing wrong with punts so long as they are combined with proper investment. That never happens with this lot.
  13. Today
  14. Now, they really are taking the piss and pushing it our face.. Will this nightmare ever end? Just fuck off Suhail and all of your agent, clubkiller friends!
  15. You can see why the club want to appoint him.
  16. Wouldn’t mind losing him - barely got a game on his loan spell away, not fancied under three managers shame though as he was great for bets on to receive a booking
  17. Yeah, he always seems to be playing within himself.
  18. Venkys might think it's a ringing endorsement though, sounds like it fits their MO. Perfect CEO for Dysfunctional Rovers FC
  19. If they are looking at appointing this former disastrous Sunderland CEO, will the Coalition voice concerns about the appointment or even release anything before it happens?
  20. Elvis Costello and the Attractions - I Can’t Stand Up (For Falling Down) Edit: Posted at the same time as Riversider but should still be okay I think
  21. The Cure - Why Can’t I Be Me?
  22. Logged on for the first time this window. Saw someone seriously link us to Carmo. Logging off.
  23. Don't think Waggott appointed jdt that was Broughton. Waggott had been stumbling in the dark for weeks before.
  24. I reckon Stokes is the only current test match captain who would have bowled having won that toss. For me what has happened in the past isn’t that relevant when the sun is beating down and it’s 30 degrees. The weather forecast over the 5 days was yet another reason to bat first. It’s a thin line between genius and stupidity and Stokes crosses it on a regular basis. Still, I suppose if any team can chase 500 to win in the 4th innings it’s this one.
