  2. Where have you seen that he was supposed to be out for 6 weeks? I am not going jump into conspiracy theories and suggest that there is no injury. If there was a medical question mark, a medical is more like a risk assessment as players sometimes sign for clubs with an injury. Not saying there is not some gamesmanship but it would make no sense to even bother flying him over for a medical if it was all some sort of masterplan to make it appear like we had more money than we do. Maybe the issue was that any injury concerns could come back in the future. My question marks around this deal still surrounding why it may be rumbling on, if it is, and whether trying to spend a decent chunk of our limited budget on what would be 3rd and 4th choice central midfielders was a wise plan.
  3. Before my time but Britt was the one that rang a bell on this for me having read about it. Who was the player we bought and sold on immediately for a profit?
  4. No Bellamy after the strong case on here the other day?
  5. According to AI career earnings just shy of 32 m US dollars roughly one third of which came from a lengthy stint on the PGA tour and two thirds from a much shorter time on LIV. Which goes to show how much more they get for not doing a great deal on LIV.
  6. The player that caused the introduction of medicals was Alan Gilliver. A big centre forward who came from Huddersfield to Rovers with an on going back injury. We actually got ยฃ18,000 of the ยฃ32,000 fee back. Weโ€™d already had our fingers burnt when we signed another centre forward in Martin Britt from West Ham who came with a bad knee injury. He retired from the game after playing about a dozen games for us. Both looked really good signings before the injuries emerged. We should have paid Fred Pickering the money, We spent twice as much as we got for his fee trying to replace him. Jimmy Kerr was top class. I saw him play quite a few times for Bury at the time and he was a good โ€˜un. In the style of David Dunn. He also played about a dozen games before having to call it a day. Steve Agnew was another big signing that got injured immediately he signed for us. A classy midfielder, I think he played 1 game ! Another very good player whoโ€™s career was over right away. All of them were very promising young players who had to retire early. Such a shame
  7. Strange twist? Hairline fracture that we were told to believe he would be out for 6 weeks. Yet here he starts. Sounds like a player we couldn't afford again. Lies after lies in the media? Or no?
  8. Why change a rule that has worked well for decades.
  9. In my lifetime. Freidel Newton England Hendry LeSaux M Ferguson Clayton Douglas Duff Shearer F Pickering
  10. Jimmy Kerr was a phenomenal talent who joined Rovers for ยฃ60,000 from Bury at the age of 20. He'd already played over 100 games for Bury with something like a 1 in 4 goal record - some record for a midfielder. A knee injury did for him after just about a dozen games for Rovers - a crying shame for a terrific talent.
  11. Putting revenue above results?
  12. Today
  13. Think it's maybe as a result of Dolan leaving.
  14. I remember he was that little bit stronger than the other characters in the WWE Mega Drive game. The Undertaker was my favourite of that era when I watched.
  15. Bridlington seems to be slowly turning it around too. The Spa building is a good venue, and there are a few real ale places. I lived there around 2007/8, and it was a real parochial backwater place where all the dregs of Leeds and Wakefield went to see the sea.
  16. Runners now banned in club cricket at our level, not sure if the pro game has banned them too
  17. Forgotten his name, but back in the late 60s or early 70s we blew our entire transfer budget on a player who retired from football without kicking a ball for us. I believe that resulted in the introduction of transfer medicals in the English game.
  18. Perhaps they are playing in the Championship in 25/26 season and this is the Championship 25/26 Season thread. Just a guess...
  19. In my lifetime the Rovers greatest 11 would be Friedel Le saux Hendry Henchoz Neil Tugay Dunn Sherwood Duff Shearer Jansen
  20. I might have got carried away ๐Ÿ˜
  21. They (the BBC) said he wasnโ€™t allowed a runner. Rules must have changed, donโ€™t know when or how.
  22. Members of a certain vintage will remember being stung by Martin Dahlin, who we did sign, and had a pre-existing issue which ended up as a bigger matter when playing for us. Given our limited finances, can't blame the club for being very cautious with the approach to Baradji
  23. Your dad knows what heโ€™s talking about
  24. Bobby โ€˜Blueโ€™ Bland - Shoes
  25. It's great actually. This is exactly the sort of publicity we need. Who knows who might be watching his final round in the U.S. who might be wanting to buy an English football Club and are wondering "What the hell is he wearing?" ๐Ÿ™‚
