  1. Past hour
  2. We don't have to spend the entirety of our interest in football on purely Blackburn Rovers current issues in order to not have a tiny club mindset. We can love the club, want it to succeed, think we are a sleeping giant, and still follow the exploits of a Blackburn born, Rovers trained ex player who is a fan. The two things are not mutually exclusive. There's only so much you can talk about current club events without becoming afflicted with clinical depression anyway...
  3. He has the potential to become a world class player. He was hardly going to slum it at this ambitionless circus in the Championship for too long and waste his career. He didn't force the club to sell him, in fact the rumours were that the club basically forced him to leave, saying they needed the money to keep running.
  4. He told me he had a plane to catch so he scooted off rapidly 😂
  5. He’s a Blackburn lad and Rovers fan, I’d be interested in how he does even if he’d never come through our academy. You aren’t an east Lancs lad yourself so you aren’t arsed, fair enough, but there’s nothing ‘tiny’ about it.
  6. Honestly, our club is bigger than this. If I were supporting some National League club, then I would love to follow the rise of an academy player. But what a f*cking tiny club mindset.
  7. A farewell to Goodison Park, the first away ground I ever did, Everton 0-0 Rovers (26/9/98) a ground full of history no doubt, but an awful fan experience as witnessed on my last visit to L4 for Everton 2-3 Rovers (Paul Ince’s first game in charge - 16/8/08) as we were on the back row of the lower tier and could barely see the pitch! Hope Rovers get an away day at Bramley Moore Dock soon!
  8. No surprise here, but for the sake of completeness Not involved in matchday squad today Vale - score/update - currently injured - final game of season
  9. Today
  10. How long did he take to leave the pitch after he was subbed off? 😉
  11. Yes I know that but do you for sure RF99.
  12. I actually refereed that match. Tony himself rang me to do it and I told him it would be an honour and it was. As well as being a part of a fitting tribute to Tony I got to actually referee Tugay. On recognition Tony gave us all a Rovers watch which I still wear.
  13. It was great to see Adam Wharton on that stage. Just wish it was in our colours He is a brilliant player and his progressive passing will give defenders nightmares. I agree with a lot of the comments about Pep-ball. It’s becoming easier to defend against it. If the ball is in front of going side to side then you are in for an easy game. When that ball is sent through you or over your head…so much harder to defend against I liked Whartons comment on the news extract someone posted - he could have 100% passing success if he went side to side every time. But he isn’t interested in that. He plays high risk passes and moves the team on. What is good is that in Glasner he has found a coach who encourages that. Losing possession at Palace isn’t the sin it is in a Pep team. That Wharton isn’t discouraged by some of those passes not working out is his biggest strength. He should think carefully about his next move - Grealish is a great example. His charm was his dribbling and City have drummed that out of him

  15. So we had to sell Wharton there and then for whatever we could get because the owners don't fund us? Had we waited till summer we'd have got way more for him and Venkys would have got more than their money back. But its not the way things are done at Rovers. Incidentally Palace have survived 2 periods in administration so I don't see why we wouldn't come back stronger as well. Worth it to get rid of the tyranny of Venky ownership.
  16. I agree and accepted we needed money in.
  17. So it says "maybe" ie is purely speculation and opinion. And part of another misguided attempt to have a go at Eustace.

  19. but the fee wasn't right for us.
  20. He played LW and couldn't track the run of the RB. He actually tried to, but Hoever just left him for dead both times.
  21. Just caved in and bought the away shirt, now it's 50% off.
  22. Thanks for the info. Perhaps football should go down the same route as Rugby League, and have the concerned officials actually discuss what has occurred and come to the correct decision according to the rules in place. But that is for the grown-ups to decide.
  23. Steeleye Span - All Around My Hat
  24. It was reviewed for a potential red card. The clear and obvious part is subjective. VAR didn't deem it to be an obvious goal scoring opportunity so there was no recommendation for an OFR.
  25. So why did VAR review it. I think to most people involved at any level, it was a clear and obvious error, as the officials missed a keeper deliberately handballing outside his penalty box.
