  1. Past hour
  2. Glad I let me heart rule my head - day would have been even better if Toth had made one save less! Hull were poor from minute one and to be honest looked like their whole team was playing with a virus with their lethargy - their 18 year old centre back also had a nightmare, way out of his depth. However, you can only play what is in front of you on the pitch and we did the job well. Goalie and defence looked sound whilst our midfield found their feet with Cantwell excelling. We still need another striker, a quality one at that and one who commands automatic selection with his ability. Hope the injuries to Tavares and Kargbo not serious given our threadbare squad. Nice to get our first win on the board but make no mistake there will be far, far bigger tests and challenges ahead,
  3. You’re mental if you think we will go after these calibre of players
  4. It'll be £5k+ more a week and his last good contract.
  5. Last season he played 32 times for a German Top league club, that’s impressive and at 28 should be hitting his peak.
  6. I think Afolayan happens. Looking at his career he's done bloody well to get to where he's currently at. Not sure how it's happened as he's spent most his career in league 1.
  7. Can't sign a foreign player to replace Hyam, so Colin Rösler could be a possibility as he's eligible to represent England. The Kapuadi ship has sailed and gone.
  8. Hypothetically if we could sell Hyam for (say) £2.5m, get another performer of the quality of Mclaughlin in for £500 k and reinvest the profit up front it'd be a cracking bit of business. However Mclaughlin was probably a one off due to Hull's woes and any profit probably wouldn't be reinvested so as with everyone else - probably better keeping them.
  9. Today
  10. The difference between those 2 is that Wolves' manager did a brilliant job last season, so that would be very much based on 2 games. Potter has been shit throughout his time there.
  11. Ross Stewart has had a night mare with injuries but a top player at this level.
  12. I was wondering whether to make a tongue in cheek post about whether Cantwell had heard a whisper he might be in with a chance of a move this window. Glad you beat me to it with something similar!
  13. Losing Hyam would be a massive and totally unacceptable blow and would massively weaken us. His experience and quality is even more important considering what has been stripped away. He is a very good defender at this level and he seems to be always available. He seems willing to sign a new deal. We have stripped away so much experience and have made big savings. There is no excuse not to chuck an improved contract at him. Sadly, we dont seem interested in keeping key players. Ismael did an excellent job in organising the team today but I found his comments about Travis "letting down the team" to be totally unnecessary, certainly without any further detail. He seems willing to do as he is told publically and try and make outgoing players seem like the villains of the piece.
  14. He's probably happy but not happy enough to sign a contract offer on the same terms as he's on now. Can't sell him before we have a replacement ready.
  15. Nixon also saying Buckley to Saudi Arabia is possible £1m + extras. Take it and run
  16. What I’d like to see travis - out pears- out buckley- out Leonard- loan go to Southampton and ask them what striker they would be willing to do a deal on, they have far too many. I’d happily take Armstrong, archer or Ross Stewart. They wouldn’t sell us downes and I don’t want Brereton back. if not Miovski at girona is available rw- I’m not wanting another European punt, two I’d target rak sakyi vlad cerny midfield- I’d ask about getting Alan Browne in loan from Sunderland, not going to get game time there and been told he can go. Ideal replacement for travis in games we need to dig deep. I see it’s been suggested we get another cb but I don’t see it as a position we are lacking at. hyam and McLaughlin are our starters carter, Wharton, miller and even Pickering can come in there should a mass injury crisis happen so I don’t see it as needed. if pears goes will probably need an experienced safe pair of hands in, certainly wouldn’t want our youngsters thrown in at the deep end should toth suffer an injury. Fraser Forster?
  17. I think it would be totally underappreciating how good Brittain was to suggest that Alebiosu is better. He was probably the best right back in the league behind Bogle last season. Going forward, fantastic, and much more solid defensively. Its no insult to Alebiousu to not compare him favourably. There is definitely something to work with. His positioning is questionable but he is used to playing at wing back and his pace can often get him out of trouble. And he isnt the most refined in attack but he will be a threat again purely due to his pace and power. For the third today, his initial touch was shocking but his power bundled hin through and we got a goal from it.
  18. I think most of us care when our fans chant the name of a Nazi-sympathiser, convicted fraudster and violent low-life.
  19. Preston will be getting giddy as fuck, prematurely, again. Granted it has been a good start for them, but not a chance in hell it lasts.
  20. A good win against a virus hit Hull. To me summed what the Championship is about - we took our chances, they missed or we saved theirs. Once ahead we played with great flair and control - but did get the run of the ball at times (if not the referee). So good win, some nice performances and return to form of certain players like Cantwell and Tronstad - but doesn't cover up lack of pace up front or Kagbo going off with his thigh quickly strapped up. But as with the defeats we suffered, it was fine margins - which for once went our way.
  21. I know it's been a difficult few weeks, but I hope that was not a wave "goodbye" at the end...
  22. Not entirely convinced on Afolayan personally. Odd one.
