  1. Past hour
  2. To be fair he’s played 84 times in the Belgian top flight and he’s 23 so he can’t be passed off as ‘one for the future’. It worries me that he started the season as a starter for Kortrijk but from February on was getting subbed a lot and by the time of the 6-game relegation play-offs had been benched. So it’s not like he was one of their better or more trusted players during their relegation season.
  3. It’s not like you to see the negatives in a player you know nothing about.
  4. Ppfffttt.. not even advanced talks? Rudy's probably only just found him on Champ Man.
  5. Mowbray had minimal input and say on the transfers at Sunderland. He said as much in a few interviews he has done since leaving, also pressured to give certain players minutes
  6. Pleasington ferkin playing fields at this rate!
  7. Spurs won just 11 premier league games this season. They didn't even make it to 40 points! Absolutely a sackable offence for a team that is supposed to be pushing for the top 4 and beyond. Yes, he won a cup (and a bloody good one) but he couldn't have asked for better opponents in the final, the worst Man Utd team for many a year.
  8. Don't forget training top, training hoodie, travel bag, walk out jacket, warm up trackies, leg-only socks, and branded gloves, that doubtless must have home, away and third versionss and maybe even seasonal variants (can't be expected to wear the warm weather gear in a UK February), all of which change on an annual basis. Maybe a fourth edition too if they play in a certain location or tournament. For all the social awareness on green issues everyone apparently has now, it doesn't seem to stop cluba producing a load of needless shite.
  9. £31million for Jobe and folk are still trying to argue that Palace didn’t get the bargain of the century.
  10. Today
  11. 'Working on' is below 'advance talks' on the scale as far as I'm concerned. So we'll still be talking about this lad in a month if our previous locally reported transfer news is anything to go by
  12. I can counter that with a list as long as my arm of crap players he brought in for us.
  13. I know he scored but hit it straight at the keeper 🤣
  14. Still got a year on his contract so will be costing us. Seems like a flexible player which I like and I presume is being signed as competition for LB or LW instead of starting...Certainly not a player to be judging G/A stats like im seeing on X...If that's the case then Rothwell and Cantwell are SHITE.
  15. I re kon that's how they decide how good players are, just have a quick look on fifa 🤣🤣
  16. Just read this in today’s paper - “ Many players in the Women’s Super League are having to buy their own boots. ——— some players are spending up to £4000 on boots and other kit.” “ My daughter needs two pairs of boots every couple of months, and they can cost £300 “, the parent of an academy player at a WSL club said. “ How much ! What sort of boots are they buying ? My first pair of “ Puma “ boots lasted me two whole seasons and that was 2 or 3 games every weekend. I only replaced them then because I fancied a change ! My mate played in them for years afterwards.
  17. Elliott Jackson has said we are "working on" a deal for De Neve.
  18. If that is true, we should get Mowbray back as chief scout, the man can spot a player that is for sure.
  19. Hopefully they are about to be tested on this. No big sales coming. At best perhaps £5 million or so from selling our last few assets at an undervalue due to a weak contractual position they have created. They'll be hoping and praying for an Adam Wharton sell on lottery win. Hopefully they don't get it. I hope this investigation drags on for as long as it takes to break them and their grip on this club.
  20. France possibly have the best set of players in the world but the feeling is that Deschamps is overstaying his welcome. I watched the nations league game between France and Spain and it was a fantastic match. Spain were the stand out side and obviously won it and look a class above everyone else. Brazil have struggled recently but with their set of players they surely will be a threat now Ancelotti is in charge. Portugal also have some really good players and impressed v Germany but their biggest issue maybe Ronaldo who is now 40 playing until he decides otherwise and Martinez in charge. I still think that England's side is overhyped and it feels like we are beyond the peak of this current team, with a number of key defensive players that were key in getting far in previous tournaments now over the hill. We have a weak set of defenders, issues balancing the midfield and a number of quality attackers but ones who all want to play in the same areas.
  21. Dolan and Hedges are 79, which tells you all you need to know.
  22. Those 2 were also relegated from the league we are currently in, and Brittain in particular had shown that he was very capable at this level. The question is how inferior the Belgian league is, we signed Gueye who had also been relegated from that level and he has struggled. Obviously none of us know who this player is, or if he will even sign. So we dont know if he is one of the better players for his current team. The curious thing would be what type of player he is. He seems to have played a mixture of left back/wing back/left midfield, and he clearly isnt a wide man who has offered much of a goal threat. We need attacking players who can improve our attacking threat which let us down last year. On paper and on the face of it, it seems unclear whether this guy would do that.
  23. Things will start to move one way or the other after June 30th when several first team contracts expire: - Domestic clubs can make official offers to sign Dolan, Weimann, Batth on a free. I'm dicounting whatever compensation fee we might get from Dolan since his current market valuation will probably exceed that by at least 5x. - Rival Championship clubs will probably make cheeky bids for any of Travis, Tronstad or Brittain to see if we are in desperate need of cash. I bet a lot of the teams are alerted of our situation given what happened to Eustace and might decide to raid the club for cheap assets. Any of the newcomers Wrexham or Birmingham can see it as an "easy" way of getting proven, experienced players at this level without paying over the top. Good deals are often done early in the window to avoid competing bids later on. Desperate (and often poor) deals are done later in the window when your primary targets have decided to join another club. We often act late because: - We are looking for the cheapest deals possible, not necessarily the best ones. - We can't offer decent wages to free agents because that will reduce whatever transfer budget we might operate within. - Transfer budget will remain constant regardless of player sales, meaning quality of squad is likely to decrease as the seasons go by. - We seems to operate on a salary transfer budget rather than having actual transfer money available to spend, meaning we have to sell players first before buying any. Happened last season with the sales of e.g. Gallagher and Wahlstedt for Gueye and Toth. - If we sell a highly-rated player relatively late in the window, we often fail to find a suitable replacement due to the budget constraints mentioned previously (examples: Szmodics and Wharton).
  24. If De Neve is true hopefully it's as a defensive LM option rather than having to play Hedges there
  25. A proper captain and a proper man. To think we picked him up on a free. Sparky's scouting setup knew their stuff.
  26. So you think aside from one off changes to our recruitment team, which seem to happen far too often but ignoring that. You think that otherwise, there are no issues in how we are run and the timing of our transfers isnt affected by our owners and board, for example meeting well after the season ends often in India to sort the budget?
  27. If as one or two suspect a lot of the money comes from a huge borrowing facility secured against fixed assets over there it makes one wonder how long it would be before the bank stepped in and called the shots. That could be very painful for us.
