  1. Past hour
  2. It absolutely blows my mind that anyone is praising Mowbray for not taking more money to improve the squad, in attempts to have a better chance of being promoted. Especially someone who goes everywhere following The Rovers!
  3. You don’t know my ‘standards’ one iota, Parson, so less of that please. I’m talking about a good bloke but ultimately a very naive one, he took those people at their self-proclaimed ‘honourable’ word but they showed by their actions at the end of his reign when he shuffled off none the wiser if he was actually staying or going after five years what ‘standards’ and ‘honour’ they really operate to.
  4. After watching Rovers since pre season, and in to the new season, I'm feeling a lot more confident. The newcomers are beginning to gel with the team, I'm confident we can get results this season.
  5. Regarding the first point, I don't think there was any mud slinging. He was open and honest about a situation. Regarding the second, it's one of a series of comments, and it's unprofessional. Doesn't matter what has gone on. That's between her, the club, and, if necessary, her lawyer. She's doing herself absolutely no favours speaking out it in public. She is seemingly looking for a new job and she is making herself look like a child.
  6. It's been said above but Mowbray is an unusual character / bloke in football. He's obviously got a lot of good traits. Pretty much everyone loves him for his man management, his 'arm around the shoulder' approach, his way with people. I imagine players, fans, chairmen absolutely love his approach, sitting around a table chatting about his principles and ideals. You see it from most of the clubs he's managed - he's very popular with fans and players alike and there must be good reason for that. He's probably great to work with because I don't think he will ever rub people up the wrong way or throw his toys out of the pram. He just isn't the sort of bloke for that sort of thing. He most definitely isn't a Warnock or Allardyce sort who would only focus on the team and results, with Mowbray there's an obsession with individuals, development, personalities which I think overrides results and league position. The fact he was able to put up with the Venky freak show for over 5 years tells us something about his personality - both good and bad - as opposed to Lambert/Eustace/JDT who couldn't stomach it for more than a few months before fleeing. The good part is it allowed this club to appear normal for a few years and to plod along as 'stable'. The bad part is that we were never, ever going to get promoted out of this league because he just doesn't and didn't have that burning ruthless desire to do it. These comments show that is still the case. Even when he'd done the hard part and got us into the driving seat for promotion he didn't have what it took to get us over the line.
  7. At that end of the day we all have standards that we try to live by. Clearly ours differ which isn't a problem. Each to their own as they say.
  8. Glad he’s gone was stagnating at the football club … was being overtaken by the likes of Garrett even …Good luck on his new journey …. Maybe the slightly slower pace of Saudi football will bring out the best in him ….
  9. Sorry, but this is 21st century pro football, not something out of a chivalric medieval fairy tale. ’My word is my bond’, do me a favour, his job was to achieve the very best for Blackburn Rovers not trying to score good guy points with those ‘honourable people’ in Pune… remind me how ‘honourable’ where they with him at the end of his tenure?
  10. But you didn’t say his name, so…
  11. Absolutely right. He agreed a budget with the owners and gave his word that he wouldn't come back asking for more. That's one of the reasons I admire the guy. I know old fashioned principles like keeping your word isn't something you expect in football but I find it an admirable quality. Like all managers he made mistakes, they all do, but on the whole I think history will record his tenure at Ewood Park kindly.
  12. Not quite sure how a young team manager is particularly comparable to Jack in the first place, but Vinner gonna Vinner.
  13. Norwich are weird. Lost all 3 home games including a 3-0 reverse home to Southampton two days ago But Won both away games by 2-1 at Portsmouth and Watford....
  14. What?.....no Lewandowski? We did everything we could....
  15. That's the spirit - let's talk about players who might come in, rather than this awful navel-gazing about those who have gone.. As I said, there are some very experienced goalkeepers without clubs, from the top flight. We could benefit from some experience and calm heads / steady hands as back up. No doubt Mr Fruity and Bad Tempered Shadow-Boy are hard at work plotting some unexpected coup in the striking and goalkeeping departments... Not long now till we find out.. Tick Tock!
  16. Calvert-Lewin signed for Leeds, Begovic signed for Leicester Ings signed for Sheff Utd
  17. Double swoop for out of favour Everton players.. Asmir Begovic Position: Goalkeeper Age: 37 2024/25 appearances: 0 Dominic Calvert-Lewin Position: Striker Age: 28 2024/25 appearances: 26 Oh, and we are sniffing around the stinking pile of shithousery called Danny Ings, from West Ham too.. But seriously, there are some excellent goalkeepers available from the top flight...
  18. Like Travis you mean? And unlike Ismael who slung mud publicly at Travis without specifying what it was about? As for the lady who's left Rovers, why is everyone on their high horse about what's let's face it is a fairly mild comment from her? Nearly everyone on here says far worse than that about the regime every day. I doubt anyone on here knows what's gone on between her and the Club but rightly or wrongly they've binned her off after 20 years so it ×would be hardly surprising if she's got the hump. Why should she have any loyalty to the Club now? And if she's nearing retirement age she may not be able to get another similar role or need to worry about what prospective future employers think of her social media activity. In general we can't keep hold of staff and the senior players were allegedly appalled by the way this lady was treated. Add to the Head Coach unnecessarily bad mouthing Travis in Public and it's a sheer lack of decency and professionalism at Club level as always.l
  19. Today
  20. Yes you are, it's just deemed as being a bit weird that you change it to something different, but that hasn't been stopped either.
  21. Messi, Neymar and Ronaldo all by next Monday. 😉
  22. Amorim trying to deflect blame to his technical director (apparently not allowed to say his name) recently in the usual backstabbing that goes on at that club. Jack Walker never behaved like that hopefully he will get what he deserves soon.
