  1. Past hour
  2. Reading the BBC article on it, it was Ancelotti Jr’s job until Martin ‘knocked it out of the park’ on interview. So, there will be plenty of mug owners yet that fall for his gift of the gab…
  3. Olympic/Rovers all the same for the execs of BwD Borough Rovers.
  4. Not a long shot talent wise. A long shot because of the conditions. We'll really struggle in the heat. I remember Japan 2002 how Brazil were far better than us because the conditions drained our players
  5. Its embarrassing,no thought gone into this at all.
  6. I asked the question about the relevance of playing Old Etonians on Twitter. The only sensible response I got was: That they were our opponents in our very first FA Cup final in 1881-82 which was the first to feature a team that is still (for now) surviving as a Football League side (Rovers) and the last time the Cup was won by one of the Southern amateur teams. I'm still not much further along in understanding why any of this is relevant for us celebrating our 150th anniversary. Interesting stuff for FA Cup historians and might be more relevant had we won the trophy that year to become the first non-southern amateur club to win the Cup but we weren't, we lost, so probably a fixture I would expect to see the Old Etonians arranging for their 150th anniversary not the other way around.
  7. Why is there a full block you can't buy tickets for that divides the away fans?
  8. It's a good job we got Gardner-Hickman done on deadline day. I'm not saying he's been good, but at least it gave us a viable alternative to Tavares who we knew could perform to a certain level (League One / Bottom Championship). Jake Garrett seriously comes under consideration for the bench once he's back, which is something last year you'd have scoffed at.
  9. Today
  10. Correct, on our 150th anniv. We are celebrating an FA Cup loss. Not our FA Cup wins, Premier League win, Carling cup win etc. but a LOSS.
  11. Yep one of the airheads has watched that Netflix series that pretty much merged both Blackburn clubs if i remember right.
  12. i'm hoping for a win by 2 goals and our season takes off....the possibility is in this squad
  13. Have to admit I didn't expect it to go quite that wrong for Martin at Rangers. His final season at Southampton aside, he's always been more of a deeply average manager than an outright bad one. It was obvious he was going to sink when he criticised the players after league game number one, though. No chance of it ending in anything other than tears after that. As an aside, if we'd treated Kean how Rangers fans treated Martin, there would have been media campaigns to have the club dissolved and the fans jailed. Guess Russell needs more friends in high places.
  14. Back when Waggott and co did that interview with Radio Lancs after being told to stay away from games, Waggott mentioned something about being in "talks" with Callum Davidson who was the manager at Queens Park at the time to organise something with them. Guessing it was far too much hard work.
  15. I Just hope they are not getting mixed up with Blackburn Olympic who defeated Etonians to become the first working Class side to win the Cup before Rovers... Seriously crossed my mind, nothing surprises me anymore.
  16. I don't get this Old Etonian connection at all. We were beaten by them in an FA Cup Final. If we are going down that route why not play Queens Park or WBA as they were the teams we beat in winning the FA Cup three years on the trot? Neither would get me excited anyway. Probably the idiots phoned up Loftus Road to try and arrange a game with QPR
  17. A few years ago Sam Allardyce left Palace at the end of the season having kept them up. They brought in Frank De Boer to replace him. He wanted to change systems away from what Allardyce did but tried it too quickly, and without the necessary players. It took the Palace hierarchy 5 games before they realised that it wasn't going to work and dispensed with his services. Nuno to Ange is a similar shift; they have opposing philosophies. It's not working so I would not be surprised if Ange got the boot soon. Forest's next 4 league fixtures are Chelsea, Bournemouth (A), Man U, Leeds. Leeds is a 6 pointer. I think that he will be in real trouble if he loses that match. Also, Leverkusen potted ten Hag after 3 games this year. I don't think that they have lost a league game since. Was that too early? Sometimes managers don't work. As a Rovers fan you should be fully aware of this.
  18. My bespoke “4000 Holes” scarf arrived this morning…h/t to @Shirt of two halves for the suggestion - very pleased with it.
  19. Over the next month or so clubs will start potting managers with regularity as those in relegation form will want out quickly. Any club looking at a new manager should read a few pages on here and steer well clear of Martin. Fans don't get everything right, those in football say never, but on the ability of Russell Martin we were bang on. He's a bad manager who can seemingly talk his way into jobs. His record is not good, and his style is way too complicated and open to work effectively. Why Rangers thought he'd be the man who can overturn Celtic is baffling.
  20. On that basis surely you would have to include David Speedie?
  21. This is exactly what he needs. A kick on the arse, its time to start produce. We hade the same with some players under JDT who was left out to play with the u21s then coming back stronger.
  22. Selling quality players and replacing them with cheap gambles is what they did when they took over a mid table Premier league side. That relegated us and with the very odd signing it’s what they’ve been doing for 15 years now. They aren’t going to change. For the fans that know we can and have done better than that, it’s a killer.
  23. Correct however most do not want to play in the qualifiers or even the group stages for that matter
  24. Exactly and the real worry is that our tin pot owners are in that league.
  25. Johnny Rivers - The Poor Side Of Town.
  26. Yes they probably would. But to do it with England?. A very long shot I fear.
  27. Tavares replacement for Travis is a massive gamble, which has so far backfired miserably. The sheer numbers of cheap unknown signings from foreign leagues lower divisions replacing proven 1st team players is clear evidence of their transfer policy having zero ambition or any regards to risking the club's Championship status.
