If you want to put them down to a series of unfortunate individual circumstances and dismiss the pattern, if that helps you to deflect potential blame, then fine. But it is a pattern. Players dont sign new deals here. But the fact is that the only player we have got to a sign a new deal in a long long time is Ribeiro, who signed a weird short term contract which was then brought in line.
