In my opinion, it is not so much that some parts of the minutes had been censored, but that there shouldn't need to be censorship. I am not saying that this type of censorship has happened at previous meetings, but the opportunity for it to happen was there. People will now come to their own conclusions.

I miss the days "transition" meant going from attack to defence or vice-versa, and not the gutting of a squad to save money -

There were protests about Jim Iley in the 70s. Remember everyone shouting outside the Boardroom on Nuttall Street. Difference then was they were local businessmen who had customers in the town, so protests could have a direct influence on their business. Today, clubs are owned by global enterprises whose owners are often based on a different continent! -
I think at the time Turkey were a developing nation ((in football terms), & scouting wasn't nearly as worldwide as it is now. The 3 foreign player rule only ended in the late(ish) 90s so clubs didnt stock their squads up with players from afar as they couldn't play them anyway & it took a little time for clubs/managers to start using as many foreign players as we see now It seemed more common in those days to discover an unearthed gem (Kinkladze & Pahars spring to mind as other examples). I am not sure if it played a part in him moving to Rangers, but Souness was Tugays manager at Galatasaray in the mid 90s, so it wouldn't surprise me if he played some part in Tugay moving to the UK, and was obviously a huge part in why he ended up at Rovers after his stay in Scotland I would hazard a guess that it was a "perfect storm" of events as to how and why he ended up at Rovers, and if it was in the current era, he would have been at one of the top 8 or 10 clubs in Europe

Looks like "transition" season is going to be the new buzzword this season, with VI mentioning it in every single interview. -
To be fair I don't know enough about his early career and why he doesn't seem to have been on the radar as the talent he obviously was by the time he played for Rovers.

I thought the replays were pretty inconclusive. Would err towards it not being given the significance and stage of the game but if the same thing had happened at the other end everyone would no doubt be saying it was a nailed on penalty. -

I remember that - used to sit right behind Fox/Bancroft/Coar in the old Nuttall Street Stand. They shot off down into the sanctuary of the Boardroom faster than a badger down a rabbit hole when they saw the fans coming over. I was killing myself laughing! Edit: Thought it was during Saxton's time 40 ish years ago? -

Again, as I remember it, the Club denied they had received any formal bids. What that means imo is that they have had buyer interest but have never allowed it to get to the formal offer stage. What's the difference? Whatever Venkys wants it to be! Weasel words. They've received offers alright but they've said NO. They want to preserve the myth that no-one is interested in buying Rovers. -
There is hope for Kristi Montgomery & Jake Garrett yet! 😉

Ive been saying for years that the Club has ceased to become a football Club where the aim or priority is to win football matches but is merely a place where certain people go to earn a lot of money. For me it's been like that ever since we got back to the Championship to an extent, with at different times The "Coventrio" of Mowbray/Waggott/Venus Broughton, Gestede, (and of course Pasha throughout) all having their snouts in the trough. From a supporters point of view, what is the point in a Club with no aspirations of success whatsoever, and whose only function is to scrape together enough money together to pay the wages of the people working there? There is none. And now seemingly, you can't even watch the football when you're having your pre-match pint! -

I did some 'back of a napkin' bottom-up tallying of our staff costs suggesting our all-in average cost per senior player was in the range of £10-11k/wk in 23-24 (My previous guesstimate was ~£13k/wk!). Perhaps there's a number of shady hangers-on, consultants, etc. making more than I broadly assumed, but, unless they're making millions (shrug emoji), it won't move the needle that much. Part of my previous point that while maybe senior guys like Hyam, Travis, etc. are currently on '£10k/wk', there are plenty of bonuses, etc. that push up 'staff costs'. Probably quite a split within the squad, with Academy grads on relative buttons, a few on 'decent' Championship wages (with Cantwell a potential outlier on top of that), while you can attract the likes of Tronstad, De Neve, Henriksson, etc. with, say, £8/wk-ish packages. It's all guesswork! --- Suppose we had a (mere) multi-millionaire owner who loved the club, had (or built up) a local connection, etc. but was open about only being able to sustainably burn, say, ~£5m/year (so, no FFP risk either), with occasional major sales helping stem those losses (with some % allowed for reinvestment). Furthermore, we'd likely still be well into the lower quartile of league turnover due to inherent financial inequalities (would hope we'd have higher turnover under this jollier scenario, but there are limits, especially relative to parachute payment clubs; as an aside, I've often wondered how much of our current commercial revenue is Venky's-related). In such a scenario, you'd probably have to accept that we'd have a relatively strict wage cap and would need to get creative (and lucky) with lower-league or Euro player trading, but at least we could start building back some pride in this club. Hence, you could maybe conclude there is some logic (even if frustrating) to what we're currently doing... However, we have multi-billionaire owners, where we have no idea how much they care or why they still own the club, have apparently deluded themselves into making a Championship club 'sustainable' even though their alleged wealth suggests they can easily absorb (FFP-compliant, after deductions!) losses of ~£17m/year (where, combined with semi-regular sales (and allowing some reinvestment!), we could probably manage a wage bill in the high £20s million). Whatever the merits of the model they're trying to impose, the fact that we again risk losing out-of-contract (or are chaotically offloading them) betrays a continued complete lack of strategic direction (and we thus should already be hearing murmurs of extensions for Carter, Toth, etc.). Bah, I say! -
At the age of 21, Modric was having his breakthrough season in Croatia, which we can probably all agree is at least a level or 2 below the Premier League Interestingly enough, that would have been the same season as when Alex Ferguson was talking Tugay up as a Man Utd player if he was 10 years younger (from my last post) Strange coincidence
