natbags
Just listening to BBC GMR at the moment, and they have just announced that Roy Keane has left Man Utd with immediate affect by "Mutual Consent".

Rover4ever
and i thought i was the first person to hear the news well, i knew he would leave, but in the middle of the season , and in this fashion? Did Ferguson kick him out, or did he leave by himself?
SuperStella
Keane to Celtic Petrov to Rovers ??
Seggie
Maybe Hughes could have a word with his old mate. He'd be the sort of player to give underperforming players a kick up the arse when need be.
key76
I don't think he'll be able to sign for any body until 1st January as he was attached to a club since the last transfer window.
Blueboy Downunder
Keane to Celtic Petrov to Rovers ?? 361782[/snapback] that is exactly the first thing that i thought too, when i saw this thread. or then again keane to rovers until the end of the season, then we can make a propper bid for petrov... philipl
As a free agent without a contract, I think he can sign within the window. Otherwise the transfer window constitutes a restraint of trade and would be illegal under EU law. Looking at the Mancs, I am reminded of that old song; "Three wheels on my wagon but I'm still rolling along etc." Only problem is, the Cherokees (Glazers) got in a bit early. Nayef
Has he been sacked then? Hard to tell amongst the usual pleasanteries (that are the statements released by both parties). The first thing I did think of was Celtic and then Petrov. Just maybe...?
roversWASmylife
Keane in shock exit from Man Utd When he came out with the comments he did the other week you know he's had enough.
Bobby G
Would people here want him in our team? Would he add anything, at the end of his career to what we have? He isnt as mobile as he used to be, and he is a destroyer... Him or Petrov...If its one or the other Id go Petrov but for sheer up-lift value, Id go for Keano. mattym
According to Sky Sports he wont sign for any other English Team so off to Celtic he goes !!
OJRovers
Keane would fit in with our squad's 'bully boys' image and style of play, but i doubt he'd play for us, plus we couldn't afford £70-£100k a week wages. We've not exactly got the most popular team at the moment either... Lucas Toddy Nelson Sav Tugay The Axe Dickov Bells Keano?
herbergeehh
Keane wouldn't give us much imo, at least not enough for us to spend 70-100k a week on him. And as said above, it's abroad or retirement. Good riddance.
Ninjathunder
As a free agent without a contract, I think he can sign within the window. He can but don't you mean 'outside the window'? Usually transfers do take place within the window. To be honest I'm having trouble visualising which side of the window we're talking about. I wonder which way it opens? philipl
Outwards or through it in the case of Keane! Probably some smart deal doing by the Mancs to be honest. They realised Keane was way past his best and unlikely to recover and probably were able to use a clause in his contract re public utterances to get rid of him for next to nothing and siezed the opportunity. Keane was "only" on about £4m a year whereas Ballack would cost £6m a year in wages.

Dan Furness
No time for the man, was a good player and one of best around, but how he got away with what he did to Haaland (who had to retire from injury) and openly admitting it is a disgrace
