Esulx Posted June 25, 2007 Posted June 25, 2007 Roberts doesnt mention his own position at Rovers but hope Benni will stay next year!!! Think those London rumours were just to stir things up. http://home.skysports.com/list.aspx?hlid=4...PES+BENNI+STAYS

Hughesy Posted June 25, 2007 Posted June 25, 2007 Apparently Roberts has personal probelsm to do with his family and wants a move back down south. If he goes then we would want at least £5 million i would of thought!
krislu Posted June 25, 2007 Posted June 25, 2007 Beattie might do a decent job for us, but I will me mighty disappointed if we don't sign a higher quality front man than that.
herbergeehh Posted June 25, 2007 Posted June 25, 2007 "I hope he stays, because I'm leaving, so someone needs to stay" ? I hope, and think, Roberts is staying.
tcj_jones Posted June 25, 2007 Posted June 25, 2007 Why would you want Roberts to leave after his superb end of season form, where he showed exactly how good a player he is? I think Beattie would be a far better option up front than Nonda and would probably cost a similar amount. I agree that with our wide men, he is likely to score a fair few goals. However, to progress, we really need to be looking at a top quality striker, such as Bellamy, and I'd only want to see beattie come in if Roberts or McCarthy were to leave.
yellowsubmarine Posted June 25, 2007 Posted June 25, 2007 Roberts must not leave. We saw him banging him the goals after the long layoff, cant wait for him this coming season!
thenodrog Posted June 25, 2007 Posted June 25, 2007 Apparently Roberts has personal probelsm to do with his family and wants a move back down south. With his income he'll soon find another one up here I'd have thought.
b12_simon Posted June 25, 2007 Posted June 25, 2007 Roberts must not leave. We saw him banging him the goals after the long layoff, cant wait for him this coming season! Yup: Beattie in and Jay Rob out would be a huge step backwards IMO.

If he goes then we would want at least £5 million i would of thought! Amazing story, seeing that Sky are reporting that Roberts is hoping that Benni will still be his strike partner next season.link
Roversider Posted June 25, 2007 Posted June 25, 2007 Very cheered by reading the Sky Sports article on two fronts, Jason seems to be saying he will be with us next year and he expects his pal Benni to be ther with him. First bit of positive comment I've read for a while. :-)

AlanK Posted June 25, 2007 Posted June 25, 2007 Look, anyone who saw his interview today will know he is desperate to do well at Ewood. Nuff said.
tcj_jones Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 LOL - a local London paper tonight claimed that Roberts was a target for Fulham, who were ready to pay, wait for it, £2 million for his services! Sanchez hasn't got a clue!

I dont want to see Beattie anywhere near Ewood, he would just be a replacement for Nonda and would score the same amount of goals if we were lucky, he had one good season and now he can't even get on the Everton bench, we need to be looking at players who were playing first team football last season not players who were playing in the Pontins league or whatever the reserve league is called now.

roversmum Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 Quick - somebody get on the phone and tell them they can have Franny Jeffers for that
CAPT KAYOS Posted June 29, 2007 Posted June 29, 2007 Yet another rumour for Roberts - might be more to this than the Fulham one though but I doubt it. Also mentions of interest in Todd MORE ROBERTS RUMOUR
Manc Rover Posted June 29, 2007 Posted June 29, 2007 Yet another rumour for Roberts - might be more to this than the Fulham one though but I doubt it. Also mentions of interest in Todd MORE ROBERTS RUMOUR Blimey, that would be a strange one. Why would he want to drop a division when he's finally starting to prove himself as an established prem striker?
b12_simon Posted June 29, 2007 Posted June 29, 2007 Charlton are set to invest some of the £16.5m they received for Darren Bent in Blackburn Rovers striker Jason Roberts. (Independent) I can't imagine Jay's up for sale. We've not got another striker like him.
G Somerset Rover Posted June 29, 2007 Posted June 29, 2007 There seems to be a few too many rumours about Roberts being homesick and as they say there's no smoke without fire. I second it though that surely he wouldnt be prepared to drop divisions?
herbergeehh Posted June 29, 2007 Posted June 29, 2007 "Homesick"... What is he, twelve?? Argh! Anyway, we'll need good money to sell him, and for good money I'm sure Hughes will find an even better player to replace him. Simple as that - the only man we're totally depending on staying is Mark Hughes. Relaxing thought, especially now with those big City boys signing Sven and therefore didn't have to look further down the list to easily pinch our manager from us.
roversmum Posted June 29, 2007 Posted June 29, 2007 No one said he was homesick! My guess is the hacks are just picking up on the fact that member of his family was recently stabbed and adding up two and two to make five!
yellowsubmarine Posted June 30, 2007 Posted June 30, 2007 I'm confident Roberts will be staying. He's starting to prove his worth and we are a team going places. He's not dumb to abandon us unless London Spuds decides to buy him.
G Somerset Rover Posted June 30, 2007 Posted June 30, 2007 According to The Times today Fulham are now after Jas. It also mentions that Everton and Charlton are keen but he wouldnt be prepared to drop divisions. Sorry I dont have a link.
thenodrog Posted June 30, 2007 Posted June 30, 2007 Evertons in the same one as us. It's a strange story this one. He's here for an injury ravaged 12 months comes back and looks impressive yet is being linked with wanting away. Under Hughes and staying fit he should have a good season next year which should increase the demand for him. At the moment unless it's us who want to sell him to fund the return of Bellamy and a very cheap Beattie (for the times that we need a back to goal, physical centre forward) I just don't understand it.
