Translate: The choice will be a little bit easier now, since its now more support from the stands. - I have noticed that the booing that i could hear earlier, has stopped. - To be honest, I dont really understand why the fans is booing on their own players. It surely has to be better to support the players that is having a good match, rather than booing on their own players. Sorry for bad translate, but that was the best I could do.

I commented on this a while back, booing players is a bad idea. Everyone always says "they're getting paid millions, they should do better... so we have a right to boo them", but in my opinion that's precisely why we shouldn't. If they can't be arsed in the first place, then letting them know we hate them isn't going to make them less so. If I was being paid that sort of money and being heckled by people, I'd just stop putting in effort into my job. I'd actually be interested to see what would happen if when an important player is thinking about leaving, the fans ran a campaign to keep him here. I honestly think the player would reconsider and decide to stay if shown by the fans and the team that they are truly wanted at the club. Would Maldini stay at Milan if he wasn't so revered by their fans throughout his career?

Would Maldini stay at Milan if he wasn't so revered by their fans throughout his career? I don't believe booing is the way forward, abject silence says more words than boo ever will. Unfortunatly we will not change a certain part of our supports mind set. The money is irrellavent for me, yes its excessive but the same ideals apply to them as they do any one in any job, support, motivation and belief from those around you generally spur you on. Maldini is a nuique man, as was his father he grew up milan and will die milan, but for 99% of footballers its the same as us mortals a job. I've long said we need club men at rovers and we have had our own maldini in recent years to a degree, we just let him go at the end of his contract, with his purpose seemily over. Le tissier for me is exactly what rovers need and should strive to achieve, but with the current mentality of people, money counts and trophies are desired. As much as I'd like to believe we could have done it, I just don't think we are a big enough club at present to make top players stay with us for their whole careers. But the booing is wrong, but stopping that will take people not to turn a blind eye to it and drown them out or shut them-up. Neither is an easy task. If we had a couple of coaches working here who had played here for a while and were top players as well we'd have a better chance. I'd love it too, and the next one in line is Dunn, what will the club do as his career draws to an end? send him on his badges? a role with the youth to see if he's up to the job? Does he have the right type of mind for the role? There's really only one way to find out. But Rovers shouldn't under estimate the influence of a player/coach who has blue N white blood. It would be great Miker, I'm just not sure the club see it that way.
Montfort Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 You can't compare what Ince did in the transfer market to what Sam might do. They are leagues apart (literally) when it comes to buying players. I think you are overstating your case. The people who want to get rid of pederson are basing this on two main assumptions. 1

I think you are overstating your case. The people who want to get rid of Pederson are basing this on two main assumptions. 1 Pederson is not that good. 2 There are better readily affordable alternatives out there that we can easily attract. I don't agree with either of these assumptions. Whilst I agree Alladyce is probably better than Ince in the transfer market, we should not expect him to perform miracles on a regular basis. Effective proven midfield players dont come cheap. I think that Grella is a fair example of the type of player that we can afford. There are pleanty of football players I dislike but they just dont happen to play for Blackburn. I dont like the tendancy of some contributors to "dis" our own players

thenodrog Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 for 50k he can come out the closet Kinell waggy for 50k per week I'd get in with him!
Claytons Left Boot Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 Sorry for bad translate, but that was the best I could do. Du oversatte riktig, min venn!
riverside returns Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 Booing of our own players is without doubt counter productive, all intelligent fans should let those who boo, know exactly what they think and that is these 'fans' are not doing us any favours.

To replace MGP we'll have to pay the same wages plus a pretty hefty transfer fee out of our limited budget for a player of a similar calibre.
gumboots Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 Please list options. To replace MGP we'll have to pay the same wages plus a pretty hefty transfer fee out of our limited budget for a player of a similar calibre. That's exactly what he was saying. He said that those who want rid of Pedersen seem to assume that and he doesn't agree so why ask him to list the options?
T4E Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 Please list options. To replace MGP we'll have to pay the same wages plus a pretty hefty transfer fee out of our limited budget for a player of a similar calibre. Go back and have another read of what he said. You've totally missed his point. Unlucky.
philipl Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 It looks like booing our own player could end up costing Rovers real hard cash. MGP certainly looks a revitalised player now he can come inside and his confidence is increasing so he doesn't wimp out of confrontations like he used to. Where he figures when Dunn, Grella, Bert, Basturk, Junior and Nzonzi are all fit I don't know but I guess he is paying worth some inordinate fee just to keep Andrews off the pitch. Joking aside, paying the numbers being suggested on here to a player who will not be first choice even at his peak if the rest of midfield get fit and in form is perhaps not in Rovers' best interest. I hope MGP stays but not at any cost.
Hasta Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 He's been poor for practically 3 years. Whilst he is currently playing very well, there will come another time when he has an off period. Unfortunately for Morten, his off periods last longer than the gestation period of an elephant. Can we afford to carry a player like that for another 4 years?
Amo Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 Can we afford to carry a player like that for another 4 years? Paying in excess of £40k a week? Certainly not!
waggy Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 i'll be glad to see the back of mgp, alright pulling your finger out with a few months of your contract left,he has been poor, let him go to the turkish baths
gumboots Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 In all the deserved praise of Jones, Samba and others who had good games yesterday, this guy has been overlooked. whilst he wasn't excellent he made more tackles yesterday and got stuck in more than I have seen in a while. Well done, MGP

Well done, MGP Agreed. He was excellent and is continuing to prove his worth in midfield.

Hughesy Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 Yeah he did well yesterday too - his throwings were also improved too, as have been his corners in recent games! Still no new contract signed...sitting it out to see what else he is offered?!
Eddie Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 Well he can already find out whatever he is offered from outside of England.
allanncd Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 As Robbie S pointed out yesterday hanging on for a better offer can be a dangerous game. He mentionned Rob Ullathorne who did that at Leicester, broke his leg and never played again. For a 3 year contract that's about £3m after tax down the swanney.
Backroom Tom Posted March 23, 2010 Backroom Posted March 23, 2010 Hope he stays with us, even when he's bad it would cost us quite a bit to bring in a replacement and recently he's been playing really well

Jaaskalainen is still at Bolton cos when he refused to sign a new contract he got a long term injury and must then have been eager to sign.
