Silencio Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 Dunn, Reid and Emerton are not involved today at all for the friendly. Not a recognised central midfielder on the bench, Warnock on left wing. Hopefully if we sort the new centre forwards out in the next couple of days, then surely there will be investment in a midfielder before the season starts. Cant be in a position where Keith Andrews is our first choice CM. I think there needs to be much more than "investment in a midfielder". We should be looking to move Reid, Grella and Andrews out. Get Emerton fit and buy two quality midfielders. We can then look to groom people like Nzonzi and Marrow for the 1st team. Let's get the strikers sorted and then hope Sam has big ideas for the midfield area. I think we could really move up the league if we overhaul the midfield.

nicko Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 Just seen that team...sounds like MGP may be getting the treatment here...watch that space.
thenodrog Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 Love your posts usually unleaded, but this time I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about! Alan Nixon will appreciate and enjoy it that's for sure. The sweaties still drink a toast to 'the wee gentleman in the velvet jacket' every chance they get.

I think Judge and Doran would be ahead of Marrow, and you make no mention of Dunn. I would ship Reid and one of Dunn and Grella. Andrews is average but versatile and fit, Emo is also versatile.

I think we could really move up the league if we overhaul the midfield. grella will become integral next season once he finds his form. he'll do the dirty stuff whilst a new tugay will provide the creativity. if not it will be down to dunn/reid/nzonzi/andrews to do this, whoever is fit/in form nicko, what are the odds on us moving for another midfielder providing the striker situation gets sorted relatively quickly and at the right price? how much can you see us spending in this area?
Bobby G Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 About time Pedersen was dropped. I think finally there are options around to get him to get his act together. Although as far as I know he hasnt signed a new contract and could leave end of the season on a free, right?
Backroom Tom Posted August 1, 2009 Backroom Posted August 1, 2009 Just seen that team...sounds like MGP may be getting the treatment here...watch that space. As in you think he could be on the way out? Big season for him, Warnock. Hoilett and EVH could both push him for a spot there if he doesn't perform

Andrews is average but versatile and fit, Emo is also versatile. I was more talking about the centre of midfield. Don't think Judge or Doran will be playing there. I'd sell Dunn too but I'd prefer to get Grella and Reid out first. We need to buy two CM's. I'd be looking to get MGP out as well. The midfield we have playing at Sheffield today is ###### poor all the way through.
Balwer Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 But can they throw it accurately 25 yards onto Samba's head? Agree that is a strength of his theno, but he's no Delap. bish both Judge and Doran have played centrally for us and I would still think they'd be rated ahead of Marrow in that regard. Marrow has more chance of cracking it at his other position, right back. Far higher up the list there.
Backroom Tom Posted August 1, 2009 Backroom Posted August 1, 2009 Although a lot of people don't rate him I'd rather have him in the team, as ugly as it is the long throw can be a major asset. We'd be mad to let his contract run down and lose gim for nothing.
Fife Rover Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 But can they throw it accurately 25 yards onto Samba's head? Hopefully they won't be required to Theno.
RevidgeBlue Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 So we still haven't signed anyone yet then? Have to say Kalinic and Di Santo would be very promising looking signings if they go through, but I'm surprised at the lack of definite news on both.

Di Santo isn't in the Chelsea squad for their game at Reading this afternoon, that must be a good sign
Stevo Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 Di Santo isn't in the Chelsea squad for their game at Reading this afternoon, that must be a good sign Well spotted. A very good sign indeed.
sambo Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 haha other than this penalty he seems to stick most of them away on the other video, favouring the bottom right! (bottom left for the keeper)
den Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 Rovers have a deal agreed in principle with Hadjuk Split. £6m apparently. LT.
roversmad95 Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 wow... roberts scored with only his second chance.... really hope these two boy sign today or tomorrow we will be looking a lot better..... if sam could pull out a young box to box midfielder that can score goals it would be great.....
RevidgeBlue Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 Rovers have a deal agreed in principle with Hadjuk Split. £6m apparently. LT. So wonder what the need for all the further ongoing talks is?
den Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 So wonder what the need for all the further ongoing talks is? Be patient Rev. Medicals to be had, personal terms to be agreed?
Guest Kamy100 Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 Also Rovers have to get International Clearance which can take a few days, they will announce the deal once International Clearance has been gained.

That cannot be said for either of the other two.
nicko Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 Poggy fee to Stuttgart is just £4 million...that is interesting to say the very least.
