it's hard to dislike the guy after the last few years but sometimes you gotta wake up and smell the coffee and the coffee smells like betrayal!

I don't think it's a case of betrayal. Simply, he's had his head turned and since then, despite signing a new deal, he knows that whether we go down or not he'll be playing top flight football next season.

Nelsen's the true captain in my eyes. You can see that it actually deeply hurts him when we're losing week in week out.

if its not betrayal i dont know what it is, but we are both right on the fact he knows he will be playing top flight football next year regardless. just upsets me to see my fav player for the last 2 years turn like that. and ill put money on it he will speak crap about rovers once he leaves!!!

Okydokie pokie.

Hmm, seems like I'm getting on your nerves this evening.

My reasoning for the "lump" comment:

Bitched and cried throughout December to try and instigate a move.

Club responds by offering an improved contract.

Signs contract early february, after his agent touted him to whoever he could throughout January.

Hasn't had a decent game since, was at fault for at least one of the goals we conceded against Wigan and for the goal we conceded against spurs and has barely looked like he gives a toss in any of the games this year.

Should buck his ideas up and fight for the club.

Despite the change in tactics he has not performed as good as he can do, and he needs to bloody well start doing so now.

One of my favourite players pre December, but has been utter toss since.

Fickle? Yes sir I am, and I have every right to be.

I appreciate your comments, but looking at where we are now I find it hard to consider his form prior to December.

Not annoying me in the least.

Just feel that a man that has single handed saved games for us in the past is worthy of a bit of leeway is all.

I understand your feelings towards his pestering for a raise - I found that distasteful in the extreme myself.

The whole team is playing gash in my opinion with the exception of Robinson and Jnr.

Samba as captain is probably suffering from expectations and feel that he should have that responsibility removed.

That's a fair call, in the cold light of day I accept I was a little harsh on the chap.

(guess who had a few drinks last night )

Let's hope the team bag three points today to ease the pressure just a little.

Apologies if it's been mentioned, but good to see our skipper keeps grounded company off the pitch:

Samba

Samba shouldn't be the skipper. That should be Nelsen or, if he is unavailable due to injury, Robbo or Salgado.

I think the captain's armband was given him to keep him onside just a little longer.

I can't see anything wrong with that story, in fact I think it's rather nice.

Giving someone 1k probabably equates to 2% of Balotelli's weekly earnings. Like your average guy in the street giving someone a tenner.

Not even that, it allegedly came out of bigger casino winnings.

Of course I suppose in an ideal world we'd rather Samba didn't fraternise with Citeh/United players etc. However in reality, our players don't tend to live round Blackburn they all live round Cheshire/Manchester?Wilmslow etc and it's a free world.

SOCCER Blackburn Nightlead

SAMBA TO PONDER OPTIONS

By Tom Rostance, Press Association Sport

Blackburn defender Chris Samba could be on the move this summer after revealing he came close to joining Arsenal in January.

The 27-year-old put in an outstanding performance as Rovers drew 1-1 at West Ham yesterday and was unbeatable in the air as Avram Grant fielded four strikers for the majority of the second half.

Blackburn's resistance was broken by Thomas Hitzlsperger's late 25-yard drive but there was still time for Samba to throw himself in the way of Carlton Cole's volley to deny the Hammers three vital points.

Samba has become a rock for Steve Kean's side but will consider his options at the end of the campaign after four and a half years at Ewood Park.

He said: ``Everybody knows that I am an ambitious player.

I am at an age now where I want to try to do something. You only have one career and it would be a shame to not make the best of it.

``I am happy at Blackburn but I will study any opportunities that come my way this year.``I'm not trying to move away but of course I would look if it is the right thing for me.``I think a move to Arsenal was very close in January but that is life. You have to continue.``If it happens, it happens, but it wasn't meant to be and football is like that. I committed myself to Blackburn and will always do my best.''Samba came out on top of his personal duel with England striker Cole who twice felt he should have had a penalty after wrestling with the giant centre-half.On both occasions Samba appeared to win the ball and he insisted such tussles were part and parcel of the game.He said: ``West Ham needed to get three points and they were playing with four or even five strikers in the second half.``They only had one clear shot on goal which went in.``When you are down there you try to force your destiny. You try to win a penalty and make the referee make a bad decision.``But I stay strong and keep calm. You know when a player has taken a fall but we all play the game and we must get on with it.``It is tough to keep focused but we defended very well and it was a good point for us.''end

Samba is a top quality centre half. I get the impression that he isn't a top quality person. Plus he has a "busy" agent. There have been rumblings like this for a while now but come out with this at a time like this is appalling.

Top player or not, Premier League status or not, this backstabber should be shown the door in the summer(at the right price of course).

He's right with what he is saying. If he feels he can play for a top 4 team then fair play to him. He is 27 now and has been here a while. After all we must remember the players aren't fans like us. HOWEVER, the timing of this story is very disrespectful.

Keep us up and then you may get your move.

If he feels he can play for a top 4 team then I suppose this summer is the time for him to go. He's not getting any younger.

He should, however, also remember that his mistakes will be put under a microscope at a bigger club, and they won't get swept under the carpet like they so often do at clubs that receive less media attention such as ourselves. :)

I've had the opinion for a good year it wont be long before he leaves. i strongly belived that last summer Arsenal would go in for him but they never did, lucky break. They obviously had interest and according to the man himself were very close in January, but the contract signing was never going to be an end to it.

he has been a top player and devoted to whatever cause the club has been in since he been here. He more than anyone else deserves and shot at a bigger club and i wouldn't hold him back. Get a good fee of 10 mill plus, then groom Hanley. If he leaves, i will definatly stand and applaud the man on his return to Ewood.

Would be sad to see him leave, as he has really matured in a top Premiership defender in his time here. I don't like the timing of his comments. He could easily play for someone like Arsenal, where he would automatically make them stronger defensively. But his errors would go more severely punished in the big games that they play. I would be looking for £15 million for him. I would be worried how it would look to the other young talents that we have if we did sell him.
