G Somerset Rover Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 0-0..what a crap result given our upcoming fixtures. Kean is sliding further and further in my estimations.

OsloRover Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 Clean sheet and a point. I'm utterly amazed we managed that, well done I suppose.
Mr. E Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 There is only one thing to blame and that is Venkys lies in the transfer window. They bought no one worth a damn.
Rover Down Under Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 What an absolutely awful ref, totally one-sided and to blow for full-time when we have a free kick and the ball is floating into their box...WTF?
Balwer Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 Terrible performance, but not a bad point. Not a bad point? Against a Carroll-less Newcastle, who we had won 6 in a row against, at home, with a fairly strong team? You're being kind.
Blackpool_Rover Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 What an absolutely awful ref, totally one-sided and to blow for full-time when we have a free kick and the ball is floating into their box...WTF? No, the referee had a good game. We were awful.
Rover Down Under Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 42% possession and 4 shots OFF target 0 on target for us - were we the home team?
Valois Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 Awful performance, absolutely terrible 2nd hald by us. Made Newcastle look like Barce. Lack of ideas when we have the ball, passing shocking, crossing poor, looks like we are going to get sucked into this relegation battle on this sort of form.
Amo Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 We're going one way under Kean, and it ain't up. Domninated at home by a Newcastle team who have lost their best striker and who we beat away earlier in the season 2-1 Newcastle will be gutted they didn't get anything, which says it all about how we played. Wouldn't be the same Newcastle buzzing after last week's 4-0 comeback, would it? No argument that we were poor.
philipl Posted February 12, 2011 Author Posted February 12, 2011 Possession * Blackburn 43% * Newcastle 57% Attempts on target * Blackburn 0 * Newcastle 6 Attempts off target * Blackburn 4 * Newcastle 6 Corners * Blackburn 2 * Newcastle 11 Fouls * Blackburn 11 * Newcastle 11
LeChuck Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 Tactically clueless. Evidence (if it were needed) that two up front doesn't guarantee good football. Kean wasted two substitutions at half time (unless they were both injuries). He's got a lot to think about. This stupid diamond formation is basically an admittance that we need bodies in the centre of midfield, yet he seems to have decided two up front is the only way to go. Decision time Kean. If you play 4-4-2 then do it properly. If you want bodies in the centre then change to 4-3-3.
PAFELL Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 We're going one way under Kean, and it ain't up. Domninated at home by a Newcastle team who have lost their best striker and who we beat away earlier in the season 2-1 Newcastle will be gutted they didn't get anything, which says it all about how we played. Get the feeling it's going to be a long and horrible end to the season. The same newcastle that scored 4 past Arsenal last week after being 4 down. a draw not ideal, but better than a loss. A clean sheet as well. Ends the run of defeats. Rovers escaped with a point.
Bobby G Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 Horrendous performance. Stole a point. Worrying how we couldn't change anything tactically to at least retain some possession. Honeymoon period ended for Kean a long time ago. Needs to make an impact otherwise we are the team from the top half who will be dragged well into it. As games wind Down we need a bigger winning percentage which will be difficult.

sweet Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 Anyone else notice we've been terrible since kean brought in 'his' assistant??
PAFELL Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 There is only one thing to blame and that is Venkys lies in the transfer window. They bought no one worth a damn. Er the players signed haven't all played yet. Only two out of 4 have played.
Kelbo Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 Outplayed, out passed, out thought, bloody hell, thats why you dont put an inexperienced person as manager on a three year contract, however many hours he works!! We were third best today, never mind second best, poor is not the word, we couldnt keep possession, the only good point was we kept a clean sheet and defended reasonably well.
Iceman Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 what a pathetic performance, and how the (Please don't use that word again) is this entertaining Venkys? why the (Please don't use that word again) sign players, if we dont play them? Rochina and Formica, must be better than Roberts and Nzonzi, even as bench options
sambo Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 Horrendous, inept, embarrassing all come to mind. Robinson 8 Handled everything that came at him, including one very good save. Salgado 5 Jose Enrique made a mockery of him at times, but he had no protection at all. Samba 5 His head looks somewhere else Nelsen 7 Much more solid than Samba Olsson 6 Poor start but did okay in the end I guess Hoilett 6 Came off, hope it isn't a major injury (if it isn't an injury, I am puzzled) Dunn 6 Game passed him by at times but some nice touches Jones 6 See above N'Zonzi 5.5 Barely noticed he was playing Santa 6 Didn't do a lot wrong, bar miss a sitter Kalinic 7 Was good when he actually got service, which was rare. MGP 6 Barely noticeable. Roberts 4 Useless when he came on Emerton 6 See MGP. A lot of that is generous too.
PAFELL Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 I'm glad you're happy with our current form and this result. I'm not. I have not said I am happy with it. But after playing badly, I will take a point.
RibbleValleyRover Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 Amazed we got a point as on the evidence of our showing today we did not deserve it. Central midfield once again a huge problem. Sometimes we get a win and you feel like its been solved but yet again we produce a shocking performance which highlights just how poor deep down it really is. Its been like that for years though so its not just Kean that this has happened to. I'm a little bit perplexed as to why after a couple of good performances and results Kean has changed it around so much. The diamond clearly isn't working and players have been moved into some wierd positions. We have also gone more direct in recent games, and the frontmen haven't been getting the support especially from the wings. No point going into detail about each player and their performances today as they were pretty much all poor. Robinson probably the only player you can't really put any blame on and he made some great saves to keep us in the game. Lot of question marks over the team and the manager and its clear we are still not out of it yet when it comes to the fight for survival.
philipl Posted February 12, 2011 Author Posted February 12, 2011 Anyone else notice we've been terrible since kean brought in 'his' assistant?? There are mumblings from Brockhall but no more than that. Anyway, Kean and Jensen now have an FA Cup-free two weeks to hone Rovers into something like a Premier League football team again. Formica should be match fit by then and even Phil Jones should be nearly ready.
Backroom DE. Posted February 12, 2011 Backroom Posted February 12, 2011 I have not said I am happy with it. But after playing badly, I will take a point. We'll all take the point, but that doesn't mean we don't have problems. They're glaringly obvious, and mostly come down to tactical ineptitude. The players take some of the blame, but where was the cover on the right for Salgado that was desperately needed? Why is our central midfield absent time after time in this new formation? Why was Roberts given a new contract?! Look at our next two fixtures - we needed a win today.

Apart from brum who won with a late goal, the rest behind Rovers didn't do much better - thankfully.
Exiled in Toronto Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 Too many players were awful today, in fact all bar Nelsen, Robbo and Samba (apart from his usual doze off, lose your man moment from which they almost scored). Still it's a clean sheet, a point and a game less.
