rigger Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 Can't just blame Henley on this Theno and its and not just this season, its something we have been doing as a team for along time as I have mentioned previously our lack of understanding' danger' and leaving massive gaps in that area. Just look at where goals we have conceded this season even with the probability factor counted into it. Of course you can blame Henley, he made a judgement mistake that any footballer, at any level, should be berated over. This doesn't pass over the responsability that falls at the feet of the people who are meant to be training our defence, (which should be every single player on our books)in the basics of getting a ball to safety. I am again dumfounded by a tactic to win a game, that relies entirely on what has proved to be the most vunerable defence, I think I have ever seen, certainly at this level.

I'll stand on Capt. It was a shocking piece of amateurism. It was drummed into me at school never to clear a ball to the edge of your own area but to head it toward the wings. The fact that we defend that area of the pitch so poorly with Keans poodles replacing Hughes and Allardyces Dogs of War makes it even more unforgiveable. If Henley had been playing as striker for Sunderland he couldn't have set the incoming Vaughan up any better. We all know that Kean is a bloody awful manager but this proves that he is a Godawful coach too. http://www.101greatgoals.com/gvideos/david-vaughan-v-blackburn/
Backroom Tom Posted December 12, 2011 Backroom Posted December 12, 2011 Come on it was a poor mistake by a 17 year old lad do we blame souness or Hughes (whoever was in charge) for the Jay Mceveley mistake against Liverpool? How about Allardyce when Jones made an amateur mistake at home to Everton in his first season? Kean is shocking we know that but Henleys mistake was just that, a mistake by a young lad.

These young lads are just not good enough...Hanley..Henley...Lowe...Blackman... Low quality and wouldnt be in any other premier league squad never mind the 1st team or bench....
Backroom Tom Posted December 12, 2011 Backroom Posted December 12, 2011 Hanley and Blackman maybe but Henley and Lowe are clearly talented lads. Really harsh there IMO.
thenodrog Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 Come on it was a poor mistake by a 17 year old lad Thats what I said Tom. Why are you arguing? If you are seeking forgiveness and allowances for age and experince you wont find it in the Premier League. Second paragraph last sentence.... http://www.brfcs.co.uk/mb/index.php/topic/26028-sunderland-vs-rovers/page__view__findpost__p__1193791 btw We had that drummed into us at 12 and we weren't coached 5 days a week at Brockhall by professional coaches with what is now described loosely as 'coaching badges'. Our coaches just worked from long experience.
Uddersfelt Blue Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 Hanley and Blackman maybe but Henley and Lowe are clearly talented lads. Really harsh there IMO. Talented or not, we should not be relying on these youngsters for our Premier League survival. Kean's job is to build a team of players who are ready now to take games to the opposition, and not defend for 45 minutes. Unfortunately injuries and average signings mean we will most likely be relegated with a thin squad.

We could have done with his experience and versatility until the end of what looks like a very difficult season.
den Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 Also letting Emerton go hasn't helped our cause. We could have done with his experience and versatility until the end of what looks like a very difficult season. and EHD. Oh for someone like EHD who can actually get hold of the ball and keep hold of it. Still, some thought he wasn't a nice person, so we're better off without him.
Andy Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 Emerton and EHD would both be Godsends at the moment. Bit harsh to criticise Henley for their first. Yeah, the header wasn't great, but where was the defensive midfielder sweeping up? And besides, Henley did well otherwise. Unlike Hanley, who once again got caught out time after time.
Backroom DE. Posted December 12, 2011 Backroom Posted December 12, 2011 Difficult to blame the young lads - I wouldn't say any of them are ready for the first team but it isn't their fault they've been shoved into the fray. The blame lies on Venky's for failing to invest properly in the team and Kean and his coaching staff for failing to keep out threadbare first team squad fit.
hesfromburn Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 we should have been adding to the squad that had no depth letting ehd and emerton go was suicide. yesterday emerton could have gone right back instead of a youth central midfielder. and ehd on the right min instead of an ageing rb. ANOTHER ROUND OF APPLAUSE FOR STEVE KEAN
sharpysharps Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 I've seen Henley twice now and thought he'd done ok both times. I would rather blood him as a full back than have Givet playing ut of position or Salgado pottering around the pitch like an old lady.
speeeeeeedie Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 Steve Kean got it tactically so wrong yesterday that the blame for this defeat is solidly laid at his door. Stuart Robson was one of the commentators on over here and he criticized Kean's tactics as being wrong. However, this was 5 minutes after he said that Rovers fans need to ease up on Kean as he's a good coach. Precisely what I've been saying all along. Kean is a coach, not a manager. Someone wrote on here the other week that each year there is one team destined to go down. This year it's us. Their goals back it up. The first from a wonky header from the 3rd left back to play there, the 2nd from a dodgy handball. However, we all know that if a team has a new manager, or is desperate for a win you can count on Blackburn Rovers to oblige and hand them victory.
Amo Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 Well, if that's Kean's idea of shutting up shop then he can keep it. Even with 11 men behind the ball against a shoddy Sunderland side we still leaked goals. It's patently obvious Kean has neither the managerial nous or personnel to shore up the defence, so we might as well throw caution to the wind every week and hope we outscore the opposition.
Bizarre Gardening Accident Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 Didn't Kean actually say a few weeks ago that 'we could have signed more experienced players and have more points on the board but that would've stopped the young players progressing' or something along those nonsensical lines?

LeChuck Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 the 2nd from a dodgy handball. Nothing dodgy about it, Formica flew at the ball with both arms in the air.
Guest Wen Y Hu Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 Parsonblue's match report is published to the front page here. Note that it is something of a collector's item in that he was unable to get to the match itself and had to rely on Sky's televised pictures to inform his view of the game. As such, it offers a slightly different perspective to his usual reports but, as ever, makes for a good read.

If you couldn't then head it high so at least you can have another bite of the cherry. I knew that at 13.

The blame lies on Venky's for failing to invest properly in the team and Kean and his coaching staff for failing to keep out threadbare first team squad fit. Not even the Venkeymob can be blamed for the squad. Their blame is in appointing a complete know nowt as manager! In this case the blame lies full on Steve Kean and whoever 'advises' him . We had Hoilett and Dunny to sit in the hole and share responsibilities at the attacking point of midfield so why the hell did the demic go out and sign Rochina**, Formica, Vucevic etc for? They are decent players without a doubt but are simply to 'samey', one would have done easily. April and May last season taught us the desperate need that we had for some solid defensive midfielders. Combinations of any 2 from Jones, Jones and N'Zonzi with Emerton and Olsson (and prior to that Diouff) who could all track back when necessary on the wings were absolutely crucial to our cause so what did the bald pillock do? See two disappear down the road and try to replace em with three bloody ballerina's thats what! ** apologies.... There must be well over a million reasons Rochina signed for us.
roverandout Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 the only hole dunn should be sitting in is the grand canyon with his fat arse!!!

Diouff could be guilty of eating babies and I'd still question Kean and his puppeteer's real motives for getting shot of him.
