'Rovers eye new Chief'

'Blackburn Rovers are lining up the possibility of bringing a new board member into the club to lead the decision making at Ewood Park. Venky's are keen to improve thing on and off the pitch at Rovers after a turbulent season, when the club have fought against relegation and have also seen boardroom battles overshadow team affairs. It is understood that the owners now have a name in mind who they are seriously considering installing at the club in the near future It would be an external appointment should it be finalised.

The plan has yet to be given the final go ahead but, if it does, that person would take a place on the board and be given the authority to make key decisions at Ewood. It remains unclear. though, to what extent the appointee would still have to refer any major decisions to the owners in India - as has been the case since Venky's took over the club since November 2010.

It is understood Venky's chairperson Anuradha Desai has been left furious at the result of the club's court case against Henning Berg earlier this week, with Rovers having to pay £2.25 million to their former manager.'

Thanks for that Scot.

Let's hope he/she can bring in their own boardroom team and see us rid of the three stoogies.

Finding a new finance director will be the first job, I presume?

Whether it is a good move or not depends on who they bring in, obviously. Their track record isn't exactly fantastic when it comes to important employment decisions. We'll know whether the person they bring in is any good or not by whether he keeps Agnew and Durrrrek Shaw in a job.

If this report is accurate it would also suggest a sale is not on the horizon.

no appointing a new manager should be first.

The right CEO won't need (or take) advice from the likes of Agnew. They'll be clearing the decks and sitting down with those who 'do the doing' at Rovers: Gary Bowyer and the team; the office staff; groundsmen; community trust.

They'll engage with the FF/BRAG/Trust folks - hopefully around the same table - tell them that a new forum will be set up with representatives from each group and not separate meetings. Maybe even convince them to join forces and help the club rather than competing with each other - Fans Action Rovers Trust?

The right CEO will want Singh gone, or at least in the background away from front line duties. Advising Venkys on global marketing - something that might make better use of his talent for publicity seeking BS.

The story about the lad at Brockhall yesterday shows what our club was always like - and can be again - a family club whose soul purpose is to provide football for the community through hard work and a touch of class.

We need One Rovers from top to bottom. The right CEO will see about doing that, casting out those who don't believe.

I can think of only one person...

We've got a manager even if only interim.

You can't run a club without a finance director.

External appointment means they tend to use an existing family member(Vineeth Rao), someone they have seen on the television(Shebby Singh) or someone under-qualified who has been recommended to them by Paul Agnew or Kentaro(Derek Shaw, Steve Kean, Michael Appleton). If they bothered to conduct their own UK based search then they would find that there are many people who are well qualified to take the job.

How can they do this when they don't understand football at all though?

Also, some firms who could help them won't deal with them.

It's all well and good putting Jesus Christ's name up for the job but would he come here??

God knows.

My money is on Kevin Smith, Kevin used to do odd jobs around the ground at PNE. He'd be a perfect fit as our new CEO.

Its just another false dawn surely, anyone they've brought in has had little or no power, so what makes anyone think this appointment will be any different?

The 'decisions' and I use the term loosely, are made in Pune, matters not one bit who holds the title of CEO at Ewood.

Ps - If that shyster Agnew gets the gig :angry2::angry2:

I just hope that they have learnt from previous mistakes and that they get the right man. I genuinely believe that this appointment is as crucial as the first team managers appointment. It needs to be somebody who is a really strong character, is versed in the methods of football and leads from the front. Simply bringing in a yes man will impeded us even further.
