JAL Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 I think GB'S comments in the LT article are insulting the intelligence of the fans. Having a sense of danger and acting on it are precisely two of the attributes Lower does NOT possess if his reluctance to close the opposition down is anything to go by. Also if we just wanted "energy" we could just get who is the equivalent of Sebastian Coe or Steve Ovett these days. I'd rather have a player who understands the defensive side of the game rather than someone who thinks his sole objectives are to run about a lot and get goal side of the ball while play goes on around him. Edit: There is also an old adage that the League table never lies. If that's true then we haven't missed Lowe that much as our points total was only two shy of the season before. And I think most people would agree this season's midfield was woefully inadequate.

Backroom Mike E Posted May 26, 2015 Backroom Posted May 26, 2015 Lowe gets the home grown vote from many but I genuinely think Evans is better. However, your last sentence I wholeheartedly agree with. We need an upgrade. Williamson 5 years younger might have been that player. We need some mettle from a young PL loanee. Someone not quite ready for the Prem but willing to put the boot in. It's pretty sad that we don't have anyone from the youth team capable. Although I've been saying for the last two years we've been missing a 'spark' about the team. We've had pretenders in the form of King, Tunicliffe and Spearing but nothing even half as good as Dunn or Duff last time we were in this division. Even if we only had them for one season we need somebody to come in and take the game by the scruff of the neck. If Bowyer will let them. Lenihan seemed to stick his foot in plenty and is naturally a midfielder.
mustard Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 Lenihan seemed to stick his foot in plenty and is naturally a midfielder. Following Hasselbaink's comments on Lenihan and how he's much better at CDM than he is at CB, I'd be excited to see him perform there. After his showings at centre half, he surely can't perform any worse than Evans et al.
Stuart Posted May 26, 2015 Author Posted May 26, 2015 Lenihan seemed to stick his foot in plenty and is naturally a midfielder. Great. Let's play him!

tomphil Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 He's a defensive mid so he'll be turned out at right or left back a few times just to get him games and probably randomly in place of someone who has been playing well. Remember games increase value !

J*B Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 Never want to see anybody injured, but with Guthrie, Akpan and Evans ahead of Lowe in my opinion nowadays we still have cover in we continue a midfield four. Hoping Lowe isn't rushed back when theres no need, lets give him until after Christmas if necessary to build his fitness and get up to speed.
A cup of beans Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 .....http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/13789487.Blackburn_Rovers_midfielder_Jason_Lowe_ruled_out_until_Christmas_after_second_foot_operation/ The quotes are way over the top, in my opinion. Not spoken as a manager, more like a father- son relationship. Its practically a eulogy.

TeamGB-11 Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 Suggests bowyer judges Lowe based on his attitude to training..

Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted September 29, 2015 Moderation Lead Posted September 29, 2015 As much as we've better options available in the middle of the park, I still won't celebrate a players' injury......
Amo Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 As much as we've better options available in the middle of the park, I still won't celebrate a players' injury...... Not even when it means good things for Rovers?
JBiz Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 Not even when it means good things for Rovers? In your opinion. In my opinion any injuries = weaker squad and if guthries out for anytime it means we are down to no backups in the centre bar Williamson.
Amo Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 In your opinion. In my opinion any injuries = weaker squad and if guthries out for anytime it means we are down to no backups in the centre bar Williamson. Then maybe one of the young lads like Tomlinson or Lenihan will get a chance. We've all seen Lowe, we know what he brings to the table (feck all). Bowyer will never overlook him unless it's out of his hands.

tomphil Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 The quotes are way over the top, in my opinion. Not spoken as a manager, more like a father- son relationship. Its practically a eulogy. Nothing wrong with him wishing the lad well but his blinkers in regards to this fella and what he actually does bring to the side are genuinely bizarre. If it's all down to attitude then surely that applies to half the young lads pushing for a spot in the first team. Is he the only one who trains hard ? It's obvious he's been struggling from the off this season and missed nearly all last season so was understandably rusty. Questions need to be asked when taking this into account plus the fact they've admitted he's been still in pain so was only really half fit then why the feck the desperation to start him at every opportunity. If they'd played it safe and eased him back, especially considering we have options in that area never mind the fact they are nearly all better, then maybe he could have got fit again.
Jimmy612 Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 The quotes are way over the top, in my opinion. Not spoken as a manager, more like a father- son relationship. Its practically a eulogy. Nonsense - Nothing wrong with what he's said at all. Cheap attempts to undermine Bowyer again. I don't mind people criticising the start we have made as it's not been been good enough, but nothing he has said there is over the top. Rovers boss Bowyer said: “He’s been to see a specialist and he’s going to have another operation on Tuesday. “It's a massive blow to us and to the lad in particular. He gives it everything he’s got, he’s first in and he’s last out (of the training ground). “But we hope that once he’s had the operation he can come back even stronger. “He’s been unable to play without pain. He’s tried and he’s tried but it just hasn’t happened for him to get rid of it. “He’s been to see the specialist again and that’s the procedure they want him to take. Share article “It’s particularly frustrating for him because he’s just desperate to play for us. “We wish him well and the prediction for his recovery should hopefully have him back around Christmas time, if not before.”
Jimmy612 Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 Seeing as you formulate most of your BRFC opinions on snippets of information from this message board and the occasional highlights reel on SSN I can't really understand why you're so delighted with this news? Surely to deem a player hopeless and celebrate their injury you have to see them play a few times? Then maybe one of the young lads like Tomlinson or Lenihan will get a chance. We've all seen Lowe, we know what he brings to the table (feck all). Bowyer will never overlook him unless it's out of his hands. really?
Amo Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 Not that it's any of your beeswax, Jimbo, but I went to several games last season and watched live games on tele. I don't need the privilege of watching Lowe up close and personal week in, week out, to see he's an incredibly limited player who usually holds the team back.
Backroom DE. Posted September 29, 2015 Backroom Posted September 29, 2015 No wonder our players are getting injured. Why in the world would Bowyer continue to play Lowe knowing he's carrying an injury? The only reason would be that he genuinely thinks the team can't get by without him, which is absolutely ridiculous.
TeamGB-11 Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 I'm not going to get involved with the Lowe debate but it has to be said that every manager we have had while he's been a first team option has had him in their team. I'd just love to pick the brains of those managers and have them explain what they feel Lowe brings to the team..
LDRover Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 I'm not going to get involved with the Lowe debate but it has to be said that every manager we have had while he's been a first team option has had him in their team. I'd just love to pick the brains of those managers and have them explain what they feel Lowe brings to the team.. And those managers were Kean, Berg, Bowyer and Appleton. Hardly Clough, Paisley, Mourinho and Ferguson are they?
