Jordan Rhodes (and the other signings we bought in the championship) has always been part of the problem. Paying 8 million for a championship striker on 40k a week is ludicrous. Paying Danny Murphy,Etuhu and the likes the same is ludicrous. We can't look at the accounts and despair at the debt and then turn a blind eye to what we have been paying/are paying players.

Jordan has scored goals for us. Lots of them. Do I want to sell him? No. We will be weaker without him and the players we replace him with will be inferior. This does not however change my opinion that we shouldn't have signed him in the first place. Good luck to him at Boro.

Shouldn't have signed him in the first place ? We would have been relegated without him !!!

Your happier to be weaker?

Must be great in your armchair

Really is a strange opinion though, when we are set to get almost every penny of his fee and wages back and he has banged in goals for three seasons.

We wanted promotion. We haven't got it. This isn't on Jordan but on all the players purchased that were not suited to the league and cost us extortionate amounts of money. Look at our debt over the last 3 years, we are currently in an embargo because of it.

I said him and the other signings we bought (first line). Not happy to be weaker (first line 2nd paragraph).

The root causes of this mess is the ludicrous amounts of money spent on players, including Rhodes. We should not have spent 8 million plus 40k a week on any player.

Oh I prefer sofa to armchair, far more comfortable.

No. With respect, please tackle the actual point I made. It's not about the other players purchased at the time, which are universally acknowledged as a waste. We will get our money back on Jordan, even the wages pretty much, and he has been a great positive force in the side for three seasons. That is very good business. Of course we should have signed him. Not once has his fee, or his wages, put us into the embargo or even come close. We would have still been there without him. And lower down the league ladder.

I'm not Rhodes' biggest fan but I have to agree. He has put in a great shift for us.

The players we shouldn't have signed were Murphy, Etuhu, Slew and Best who between them cost the club £20 million plus with next to zero input. If we are hunting around for the "what if" scenario we should have spent that cash on the cream of Championship young talent and a few seasoned campaigners - not spiritless wasters on for their last pay day - and binned Kean on relegation and found an experience promotion specialist.

We would have stood a much better chance at promotion.

I don't think anything can be left at Rhodes door.

The root cause of the mess is venkys the second root is not buying Rhodes but the sheer pig swilling greed of Shaw and his little poxy disciples

The irony is the reason we signed Rhodes is because of Venky's and their crazy ways. No way any sensible championship club would have spent 8 million plus 40k on a striker when we did.

Sofa , armchair doesn't matter which does it when you never attend ewood . Said it til I'm blue in the face I'd never go on a Broncos board and tell season ticket holders that I know best.

You clearly have reading issues, as we have had this little merry dance a number of times. I'll try again. Slowly. I don't comment on matches or whether or not people should attend/ buy season tickets.

Am i allowed to comment on whether we should spend money on players or not and Venky's?

No a sensible one would spend 11 million on McCormack or 14 on Rhodes .

Fulham have the new tv money to help them. Boro will be under an embargo if they don't go up. High risk strategy and certainly not sensible.

Bit harsh on the other ten players who, for a hour and half, were trying to keep reins on the oppositions attacking abilities, trying to get forward themselves and laying on the chances for the eleventh player who had likely been anonymous for the other 89 minutes. Not to mention the other players who could have been brought in instead and collectively contributed far more.

:)

I can understand a club with ambition wanting to sign him, if their management structure is sound ...

Unfortunately that was never in place at Ewood , never once under Venkys tenure have they showed ambition and as for their choice in managers and executives , they couldn't run a fish n chip shop !!!!

He scores goals and a lot of them and that is the most difficult thing in football to do ...

Buying Jordan Rhodes is like buying the sprinkles on top of a cake, without buying the cake.

In isolation buying him was not a mistake (when you look at his goals and his resale value). However buying him alongside the other players for the costing is the issue. Rhodes, Etuhu, Murphy, Best, piled on at least 8 million onto the wage bill. That was not good business sense and has put us in the position where we are now under an embargo. Ultimately Venkys are the problem.

Seriously? My parents have raised me to treat people with respect. Learn some etiquette.

People keep saying Boro will be under an embargo.. Seriously will they ? As it seems the likes of Boro are now telling the football league to bring on your embargo bullshit it's not legally binding so basically do one or risk a court case of which the football league will be beaten

Unfortunately we haven't got any one with the brains or balls to do this or its a convenient excuse for Bowyer and Shaw

There's no point keeping someone at the club against their will.

Should be interesting to see what happens if Rhodes and Gestede are still here come Sept. We could end up paying the salaries of two players who are gagging for the exit, and how motivated would they be?

I know they're going to go, I know next season will be a horror-story, let's just get it over with.

If it puts Venky's exit closer bring it on

We want our Rovers back

It just confuses me mate that you keep mentioning the others bought at the time. They don't come into it. They're separate purchases. Rhodes was a good one, and our FUP situation would have been identical without buying him. That's really all there is to it. Every transfer should be judged on its own merits. Rhodes is the one shining light from what was (is) a dark period.

I said my parents had raised me to show respect to others and then YOU brought them into it by saying they had failed. You made it personal.

With regards what I said, we have had this conversation at least five times? How many times would you say is reasonable before someone questions your reading ability? Bless Theno has had to explain his aversion to golf at least seven times to you...yet you ask the same thing again and again. I know you are not going to reply so we can back to thread now.

Put on ignore now.

- Gedstede has a price tag

- Rhodes being touted without actually previously wanting away

- Could Marshall/Hanley also go?

- Embargo likely to remain for at least another 12 months

- Owners' solution to embargo appears to be to sell players, even though such a strategy would probably see us under embargo for another 3 years, no-one is seemingly making a challenge to the judgement or making any sort of appeal to help us get out of it

- Auditors quitting at short notice

- Owners can't be contacted by manager

- Parachute payments set to end

Anyone got any good news?

How is this merry little mess likely to end?
