It's too late now. Even if the embargo was lifted before the window closes, we've less than two weeks and have already filled our squad with signings. The few players we could get decent money for if sold would probably relegate us. Even if we could spend money replacing them the team would be weaker so it isn't worth it.

It's remarkable that the League appear to be able to ignore their own rules to suit particular circumstances. In the same week that they are letting Qpr off the hook. Coincidence? I think not.

I hope we resist. Use the £10 million to lift the embargo in January.

I don't understand what the league are saying. So we use money brought in from sales to reduce losses but then can spend on players immediately after thereby increasing losses again? It's nonsense.

It's because Forest are about to sell Lansbury to Burnley and they are going to get Forest out of the embargo before us. Even though we've taken more drastic action to reduce losses than they have.

They won't be happy until we've sold Rhodes and hurtle into League One.

So my interpretation of the above is that if Middlesbrough post a loss of more than £6 million in their accounts to be filed by December 1st then they would be subject to an embargo from January onwards.

Given the money they have been throwing around does anyone really believe that they will get an embargo in January? Not a chance.

They started their spending spree after the cut off point so it won't be shown in their losses until next season.

We should have paid 8mill fine and carried on spending

We didn't spend before mo!

Getting out of embargo is just another side show, means nothing In the grand scheme of things.

If we had an owner like Gibson that's willing to break the bank to go up I'd be all for it, but we've owners that are looking for bargain basement signings so embargo or not, it's makes no difference.

Well joking apart that's what none of us understand. Apparently the wealth of this family knows no bounds( much like their stupidity) so why no not blast through FFP and make sure you get promoted and challenge the consequences later??

We now have billionaire owners shopping at Poundland which effectively increases our chances of going down not up!!

£120million of losses you either pull up stumps and call it a day or you set your stall out for a big assault on the PL- we are stuck in the middle doing neither. Complete bullocks

The bit of the article relating to us and Forest reads thus

"Blackburn Rovers and Nottingham Forest continue to be subject to FFP embargoes relating to their returns for 2013/14 season. Both clubs will have the opportunity to remove their existing embargo during the remainder of the current transfer window by using any funds raised from player sales to cover previous losses."

Now it may be just me or that the article is badly worded but the piece doesn't specify that further sales are needed, surely what is needed is someone competent enough to convince them that we have done enough already, that funds from sales have in fact gone towards covering previous losses and that that along with further cost cutting protocols which have been brought in going forward is sufficient.

Exactly what any billionaire owner who cared and wanted to get there money back would do, or would have done by now TBTF.

That would be fine if they hadn't already spent considerable money before the cut off point. Even ignoring this summer completely, the money paid out over the 12 months prior, including substantial transfer fees on the likes of Adam Forshaw (£1.5 million) and Kike (£3 million) means they have been one of the big spenders for more than 12 months.

We don't know that though. Given the amount they threw at it when Singh was running things and the amount they have continued to pour in for pay-offs and wages since it seems clear that they are prepared to put up the money.

One of the reasons we have been in the bargain basement these last couple of years is that the club had to reign in spending knowing that FUP was on its way.

I'll judge where we are at in terms of spending when the embargo is lifted.

We have never had the option to pay an £8 million fine. The only way we could have had that option would have been if we had been promoted and then relegated again in the last few seasons.

still no news on QPRs punishment I see

There won't be any. QPR's 'punishment' will have already been agreed behind closed doors. The job now is to time the news to cause minimum outrage and disruption among other clubs. Announcing it during a transfer window would be asking for trouble, so expect it to be announced in October or November that QPR's case has been settled and a fine agreed (but no specific info made public).

Also interesting that they claim to remain 'in dialogue' with Leicester City. What are they talking about? Why didn't we get a 2 year dialogue period? Either they charge Leicester or they don't. Not that it will make any difference if they do because Leicester are now beyond their jurisdiction and it could be quite some time before they are back in the Football League.

Exactly what any billionaire owner who cared and wanted to get there money back would do, or would have done by now TBTF.

Forest's owner is loaded, but he has had to stop spending and hasn't challenged FUP. Why?

The football league are scared of a court chalange so will settle out of court with QPR ,the football league obviously thought everyone would play by the rules wonder what they would have done if Leeds, forest and rovers had challanged them..

FFP is the right discipline for the Ewood Management at the moment.

But will we ever be offered 14mn for Rhodes ever again?

As Saturday(from 4pm) and Tuesday (from 8.20pm) proved we have got a lively squad and can move to a more flexible, pressing game EVEN on cheaper players.

The 15mn target for Wage Costs needs to be achieved and then work on the team from there.

The interesting thing - were we ever offered £14m by Boro anyway ? It all seemed to be paper talk - with only Rhodes confirming they had offered more than Rovers paid - so it was over £8m - but as high as £14m ?
