Fair enough Den but how many points have we got from those games ?

Not as many as we possibly deserved, or should have got. We're improving though - apart from last night. Pre-Lambert we didn't look like we could beat anybody, anywhere.

Recent away performances Tyrone?

Starting with the Oxford game at the end of January where we won comfortably, we've played Boro away and played well, played Derby away and were apparently unlucky to lose that one, played Burnley away and were excellent - then played Ipswich away last night where both sides were poor but rovers rested 5 key players. Couple that with some sterling home performances and for me we've improved no end on where we were under Bowyer.

Not one league win away in those mentioned. You make your own luck . As for resting players how many clear at the top are we ?

I would trade you a 1-0 away defeat to Derby with an excellent perfomance under Lambert over a 3-0 loss to MK Dons, same amount of points gained but a very different feeling.

Bowyer should have been sacked as soon as the final whistle was blown in that match. An absolute disgrace. Guess which player ballsed up that game for us?

He should have been sacked ages ago, certainly at the end of last season.

Arguably should never even have been hired as manager in the first place... but by gones I suppose. Hopefully we can clear out the dross brought to the club during the summer, get rid of the likes of Henley, release most of the players out of contract and start afresh.

For me, there's no arguing that we've improved under Lambert. I like the man and I can see what he's trying to do. Last night again proved we don't have the strength in depth to rotate and still compete. We've played well in a number of games but thrown away points due to needless errors and a lack of clinical touch in front of goal. All points to the personnel not being up to it. Spurr, Henley, Akpan, Brown, Jackson, Taylor, Guthrie etc etc. The list goes on. Players who simply aren't good enough for this level and need shifting asap.

Lambert probably knows who is going and who isn't but needs to keep them fighting on-side. Let them think they have a chance of earning a new contract then get rid at the earliest opportunity. Two strikers (ideally one who can score goals), a good few midfielders (a couple who can create) and a few full-backs are all needed. Just hope the JR money gets well and truly re-invested as we need it if we are to succeed. Won't get anywhere with the current crop.

You baffle me Abbey. We've improved under Lambert. You disagree?

Of course certain aspects of our play have improved. I'm a big Lambert fan, as I am of the rest of our coaching staff. Without them we would be certs for the drop. However I am allowed to say there are other aspects of our play I'm not so happy with. IE the mental strength of most of the players. Warnock's come in at Rotherham and all of a sudden they're fighting for their lives when by all normal reckoning they were goners. Even Bolton who are goners are fighting. Is there something in the water at Ewood ?

I'm sorry but he's not a great player or anywhere close. He is a player scoring a lot of goals for one of the top teams in league 2, he is also a player who looked nowhere near the standard required for the championship against us and was comprehensively outplayed by Ward.

Not sure you fully understand that he's scoring these goals from midfield. He's not a forward and therefore Ward wouldn't have been marking him throughout the game although perhaps may have made some good interceptions and tackles when he was in possession. I've seen plenty of him in that league but his performance in the rounds before us against Swansea showed that he can play to a much higher standard.

Hell, Tony, you're keen and I salute you! All the way to Ipswich on a Tuesday night with just 213 fellow Rovers fans.

I have some medicine and pills in the cabinet that you can have free of charge :-)

Have you anything for football related bipolar Mark? I have this issue where I am calm, confident and relaxed before a game and by the end I am angry, frustrated and narky. These are symptoms I have seen a lot in locals over the past five years. But we still keep bloody doing it.

There's a lot riding on the Brentford game.

Now there's a conundrum.

I heard on the coach back last night that the Venky's will possibly be at Brentford on Saturday. PL is definitely meeting them after the game to discuss next season.

Would it be easier to convince them that a total rebuild of the squad is necessary after they've witnessed a woeful performance?

Incidentally, we were all given a four page A4 document on the coach, filled with the do's and don'ts for visiting fans to Portman Road, issued by Ipswich Town. Independent travellers wouldn't have been aware of it's existence.

Amongst the garb - No musical Instruments allowed.

So a special mention for the cynical stewards who threw out our drummer (and others) after claiming it mustn’t have been spotted at the turnstiles even though we were all searched before entering the ground.

How the hell do you not see a bl00dy big drum?

£32.50 + travel wasted. I hope a complaint is made.

Interesting, Aggy. Personally I see it as Lambert wanting to ensure that the team put on a performance on Saturday, so in effect, he sacrificed some of our big hitters last night. No chance would he risk us getting a hiding in front of their watching eyes just to prove that we need investment. He'd be just as likely to get sacked because of it. All IMO of course.

I do fully understand it thanks, I watch Morecambe regularly in league 2 and have seen plenty of him. In fact I saw him when he was at Cheltenham too. He is having a really good season at Oxford and did well there on loan before signing permanently, however Oxford are flying at the moment with everything going their way, obviously you can only score against whats in front of you but it has to be said Dagenham are one of the worst sides I've seen in a long time, to be bottom of League 2 which hosts some truly awful teams takes some doing. I may be proved wrong and to be honest I'm not over bothered either way but to declare someone who has had a succesful 18 months in league 2 a 'great player' is over the top IMO.

Chris Taylor had several good games in the cup, it's not a yardstick to judge someone on IMO.

I'm not sure we were any different playing for St Edwards up at Sett End!

I saw the drummer being escorted out and wondered what that was about. As far as I could tell he hadn't actually used the drum during the match though?

I went to Ipswich about 15 years ago and had the misfortune of going into a pub by the ground called the Monkey and Drum, I was served one of my top 5 worst pints ever. I vowed never to return.

Terrible place. Right near where I work, there's always scruffy looking buggers hanging around outside. There are some decent pubs in Ipswich but you have to venture into the town centre to find them, the ones around the football ground are pretty dire.

Add freezing cold weather into the mix John. In fact that could be a punishment for under performing Rovers players - train at Sett End for a week.

If it wasn't bad enough that the Rovers drummer was ejected from the ground for possession of a musical instrument, from a crowd of 200 fans after paying £32.50 to get into the ground and however many hours on the motorways to get to Ipswich, as soon as Ipswich scored there was clearly a drummer in the home end making noise for the remainder of the game.

Jobsworth stewards trying to 'earn' their wage by making an issue out of nothing. Probably trying to impress their watching supervisor. I did ask on the way back from the toilet why Rovers fans weren't allowed a drum when the home end clearly had one, but got the usual shrug of the shoulders look of how dare you question us you lowly peasant.

He's playing in league 2 (obviously) and because he's only playing in league 2 you can only judge him by the level he's playing at and at that level he's a great player. He's had a small opportunity against a prem side to show his class and he did... All's I've said is that it's someone we should be looking at along with QPR, Newcastle, Wolves and various other clubs because he surely (given the league he's playing in) wouldn't cost a massive fee and would be worth a punt. Dagenham are garbage but lets not forget he's scored 14 league goals before tonight so let's not rubbish his efforts down to scoring against a poor side. The lad clearly has something.

I think rovers are working harder now, and have more of a togetherness than we've had since Allardyce was here Tyrone. BTW, it was Abbey that baffled me, not you. What his point to me about making your own luck was, I don't know.

There's no cure I'm afraid. I've been addicted to sport all my life. Football, Cricket, Rugby. Have the highs outweighed the lows ? Not a chance. I'm a season ticket holder at my local Rugby League club - if Rovers lose on Saturday and Hornets lose on Sunday my weekend's properly ruined.

However if they both win ( not a common occurrence ) I'm walking on air for the rest of the week.

My wife's worse. One season she went to every Hornets first team and reserve team game, home and away ! Fancy a trip to Whitehaven to watch the reserves get beat ?
