Nothing to see here, Sutton doing what a good striker should do and what a strike:

John Williams wanted to win, which is why he bought winners to the club in Souness

It was Sir Jack Walker who bought Souness in

I stand corrected. The point stands though, that John Williams wanted to win. Souness has stated in interviews that both he and Williams would push each other on to constantly improve and do better. Another important thing Souness has mentioned is that the Board during his time here wasn't in it for financial gains, fame or to do favours for others, they were all on the same page wanting the best for the football club.

Compare that to the mess in the Boardroom today that dares to attach itself to the name of Blackburn Rovers.

I agree on your Williams point. He was an excellent chairman and I wish he was around the club even now in a non executive role at the club. Same as Tom Finn

Arsenal would have done better defending the corner properly rather than whingeing about Sutton putting pressure on Winterburn.

who cares 😂

If anything it was Winterburn who was guilty of gamesmanship. He was happy to waste time and let the ball run for a goal kick until Sutton challenged him.

Exactly the point that is missed by the dog shit media.

Why should we just allow them to waste the remainder of the game?

I just heard that Vinny Leech has died. He was a member of the Youth Cup winning team back in the day that included Keith Newton, Fred Pickering, Mike England, Barry Ratcliffe etc. He never made the first team at Rovers but he went on to have a long pro career with first Bury and then Rochdale.

I watched it on Sky. I remember because they did the strangest promo/interview I've ever seen. Before the game they wheeled out WWF star Shawn Michaels who professed his love for "the Blackburn Rovers".

Did Richard Witschge play that day?

Yes he did.

My abiding memory though is being chased back to our coach by West Ham fans.

You’d have thought they’d have just wanted to celebrate beating the soon to be champions but apparently not!

Fortunately for me I was a relatively fit 19 year old and they were a bunch of middle aged fat bastards. 😁😁

Me too, along with 4000 other Rovers that day.

My memory was walking out after the game and the West Ham fans saying:

"Don't worry, we'll stuff the Mancs as well"

Good old West Ham 😉

Being chased by a pack of fat blokes would stick in my memory too.

Here's the interview; YouTube: Shawn Michaels BRFC
