Massive problem with modern game mindsets. People don’t give a shit about fullbacks being defensive liabilities, as long as they can pass a bit.

He's good technically - both on the ball and off it. He's just not athletic enough - you can run him very easily.

I think he's improved massively this season under JDT, but there's no getting away from the fact that he's a poor athlete at this level and he's there to be got at.

Improved in what department? He gets roasted most games. The games he probably looks ok in are the ones where their right winger or wide man isn't up to much..if they have anything about them they come out on top usually.

Ok.

Like a broken record.

We have no interest in getting the ball into the opposition penalty area, or having shots on goal.

We may win, but if we lose 4 nil, JDT will sleep soundly tonight as long as we have at least 52% of possession.

The other Championship teams are waiting to pounce, as soon as we concede.

We may well win, but it won't be as a result of any final third attacking intent.

COYB!!!! Let's do it just to spite the manager....

He doesn't even look like he's trying, which is my biggest complaint.

In fairness wasn't a majority saying the same about Brereton a few years ago?

Jack Vale.

Not big, but not small.

Not quick, but not slow.

Not skilful, but capable of a trick.

Not a poacher, but can finish.

Not strong, but not weak.

League Two at best.

He’s like the modern forward equivalent of Jason Lowe. Played nearly 200 games for rovers and I can’t really say what his strengths were. He wasn’t a box to box midfielder, didn’t score goals, wasn’t great at tackling/breaking up play, didn’t have a killer pass, didn’t take set pieces nor was he liability. He just filled a shirt to no obvious purpose. This lad might be cut from the same cloth.

Vale doesn't look as if he's trying but that replay of Brereton's miss doesn't get any better. It was harder to miss the target.

I’d try to get shot of him now IF proceeds were given to JDT. Despite a few flashes he’s been back to being Brereton for a full year now IMO.
