I have to say, I admire the fact that you support your local team and place of birth. That's exactly why I support the Rovers.

From at he age of seven I was taken to a game, when we were in the old third division and have loved the club ever since.

I grew up with some of my school friend supporting the likes of Leeds, Liverpool and Man U despite all of them being Blackburn lads, so never quite understood it.

I can proudly say, I am a Blackburn lad and have not got my son and Grandson both following the club and hopefully both still will, long after my passing.

There is nothing wrong with supporting your home town team and fair play for you coming on here and saying so,

Enjoy the match tonight.

In general i find the Rovers site much better that the Preston one and always enjoy engaging with other fans on match days... I do not have a son but a grandson i have and he doesn't have a prem team he supports Preston North End.

I do not know what the Blackburn away support is like (although i did attend the Blackburn v Burnley game last season) but i can tell you if your interested that Preston have a solid base of young fans aged 15 - 21 travelling away.

I hope all Lancashire teams have this and therefore the base of all our clubs  is stable for a long time...

No Dingles, Blackpool or Wigan this season so it’s the only local game for either side, so of course they’ll fetch plenty.. as we will there.

I must admit a number of fans do get ever so excited about numbers.  I often find that the more numbers there are especially i have found at Blackburn ( easy of getting to game) is that the more numbers do not pan out into a better atmosphere.

As i find difficulty in our fans most recently at gentry day Middleborough "buzzing" off a great atmosphere produced while getting battered on the pitch and not even attempting to compete...... If Ryan lowe had been in distance that day he would have got more than a mouthful....

But i suppose its what turns people on ... some people like to make immature comments on a forum and get off on it...

What do you think about Lowe? Preston fans don't seem to like him generally.

Wasn’t a soft penalty the decider?

The penalty was the second goal for Preston which i believe was a foul therefore a penalty the only issue was that the lad didn't get sent off.....   dependent on how you wish to see it Coventry first goal was offside.

So overall a good solid win that should have been by a bigger margin unlike the defeat to West Brom which could have been eight!

Some people do not like him because it appears they are anti scouse...i am not i do not care where you come from if you up to it. some people do not like his fist bump to the crowd after any game that involves a win.  I think that the day is about entertainment and if parts of the crowd like it ie the younger ones no issues with me, i do partake away from home ... some people say he never takes the blame for owt.. i agree .. some people say he is tactically inept.  i think he is still learning this div and coaches a team that often comes up against teams with far better players... some people said he came in giving it the big one on his style of play...i ask them what do you want him to say!

My feelings are it is what it is and that often the grass is not always greener and managing to compare this crazy league possibly needs to be not attempted as its a league with such extreme levels of financial advantages you could argue all day long what's the most important factor.  If you argue against the advantages of parachute payments you will have people saying  "well Luton...look at Luton"

So a soft pen did decide where the 3 points went then. It looked like your player was one on one with the keeper completely missed the goal so threw himself on the ground after feeling Coventry's defenders head touch the back of his leg (who'd fallen arse over tit on the wet pitch).

Coventry were poor though.

As you appear to have read my initial run down of our results and point totals this season you will see that i have put WHAT I felt was a fair result.

If you wish to suggest that any game is simply based on any given decision then that's your entitlement.  If you wish to take your mindset then i suppose we could knock the "dodgy" penalty off in your opinion  (if you go on the Coventry forum you fill find that a good numbers of there fans stated it was a penalty) and i could knock the dodgy Coventry first goal for offside and we would have a score of 2 - 1.  Would that change my opinion of the game ...no.  What do you base an opinion on?

Generally we bossed the first half without producing much of a goal threat but going in two one and then the game was more open and went end to end......my opinion was it was good solid win against a team that sold big and invested big. (in comparison to us)

Less of an issue for a Rovers fan but again my thinking has always been to support all other local and northern teams bar when they play against us.... jealousy and hatred is a bad thought pattern, and if smallish Lancashire teams can compete in the prem its show hope is there for us all .... it also usually allows myself and my grandson to pop along to watch prem football at a cost that is affordable!

Ok thats fine but i asked you a question, would you like to answer it or continue with your child like comments?

But you assumed that I regard preston as a fierce rival, which I don't. Any team we play next season are to me rivals.

True, but at the same the game is built on schadenfreude! I don't think I'm as bitter and twisted as some, but if I were a PNE fan I don't think I'd have been able to be as generous as you seeing Blackpool having their day in the sun.

Well as has already been accepted everybody is entitled to an opinion and most things in life are simply that however strange they may be to others... two and two is four...no arguments ... are Preston fierce rivals with anybody but Blackpool ...not in my opinion ( i was being a little silly with that remark .please forgive me)  are Preston and Backburn at this present moment.. rivals in my opinion they are.

The meaning of rivals

a person or thing competing with another for the same objective or for superiority in the same field of activity:

I would suggest to anybody that the meaning of rivals most certainly fits the present day Blackburn - Preston situation....

You win tonight your above us on goal difference and the aim of all teams is in fact promotion so i suppose your right although i am not sure why your referring to next season but yes i suppose all teams with a fighting chance of promotion are indeed rivals.... although in my opinion neither us or you are likely to get promoted but you never know Luton did amange last season.

I want that fussed when they got relegated but hats off to others who achieve ...we had a little spell of being completive in the championship play offs and failed.

A rivalry has to mean something special to both sides; if it doesn’t, it isn’t a rivalry.

I am a Texan, & I grew up on Texas/Oklahoma. That IS a rivalry, both sides derive much pleasure/pain from it. my in-laws are Texas Tech fans, and as much as they think they have a rivalry with the University of Texas, they don’t. It’s just another game to we Longhorns.

& all this being said, Rovers/Preston is a rivalry. I am a newcomer to Rovers fandom (since 2013), but 14 pages before the game even starts, says it means a little more than playing brum big club, Ipswich, QPR, etc.
