Yes, Raya went to Southport in the national League on loan, Michalski needs to do similar

Barrett is our 5th best keeper, at best, no where near ready, & never will be

I haven't seen much of Barrett, Goddard or Honor. 

Can you what qualities each have please?

From what I've seen Goddard lacks height but is good with his feet.  Barrat is decent with feet poor on crosses but is too old for 21s and should be on loan. Honor is huge and has presence. Was apparently fantastic on loan last season and had more impact than Michalski in the same league but same as the others there is no clear plan.

Well put, I do not disagree with that summing up.  asso Honor probably not quite as good with his feet as the others mentioned which is maybe why he doesn't have as much hype as Michalski

I will add that when Barrett was given an extension during the summer, I assumed that this was for him to be third choice behind Toth & either Pears or another, and allow Michalski, Goddard to get out out on loan to get games and develop.  If Michalski is going to sit on the bench, then it makes no sense whatsoever, and Barrett should have been released

Playing devil's advocate here. Toth plays a double header in Hungary and gets injured.

We are shipping out our  first choice keeper who had a solid spell in between his calamities. 

We are left with a rookie in goal who did not cover himself in glory in his recent first team outing. Is Pears really a third choice?

Mowbray thought Raya was suspect. We all thought Walton was suspect and he had a decent career away from us. 

Pears is howler prone but he has also been a match saver. I think we are leaving ourselves dangerously thin on the ground if Toth gets injured.

Pears is absolutely fine as a Championship back up keeper. Definitely far too accident prone as a #1, but adequate as a stand in. We were happy to have him a few years back once Kaminski was injured. Unfortunately we then made the wrong call to let Pears keep the jersey and sell Kaminski, but that's hardly Pears fault!

 

If we get offered genuinely decent money for him (seems unlikely) then you take it, but I certainly wouldn't want to be chasing him out of the club. Not least because it's not as though Toth has really proven himself either just yet, so it's not even just injury we need to be wary of.

Either way though, if Pears does go we absolutely need another keeper who has at least played some senior football.

Both Goddard & Michalski have played senior football, however, Goddard was in the Irish Premier & National League (relegated with both last season), & Michalski was in the 7th & 8th tier of English football

But yes, absolutely need a second choice keeper who is not basically a novice

Felix is 6 foot 2 . When I saw the comment as lacking height didn't ring true with my memory of him at bamber bridge.

Due to his loans out, I have not seen him in about a year, but I am pretty sure he was 6ft at most at that when I saw him last

He may well have had a mini grow spurt over the last year.  Maybe that's part of the reason why Rovers gave him an extension during the summer?

If Pears has any confidence in himself, and the hierarchy truly want him gone, then mutual termination might be best for him and the club. I suppose it depends on whether the club think they can eventually get a fee for him either in January or next summer that recoups the wages lost paying a player who they have no intention of putting on the pitch.

The sensible option would be to reintegrate him as second choice, obviously, as he's not going anywhere until January at the earliest and the only other goalkeeper at the club with proper senior experience.

Agree we need him or someone else experienced as a number 2. He's had a few good games but wouldn't call him a match savers. 

Walton was auspect, he was awful. And if you look at his career since after a short stint upwards its been massively downhill. Not good enough. 

Like most of Rovers decisions we are playing with fire not utilising an experienced number 2. At least the number 1 isn't pears which is a small mercy.
