MarkBRFC Posted May 9 Posted May 9 That Riis is ok, 12 goals isn't a bad return for a side like Preston this season. Good age and played a lot of minutes this season. I don't imagine he would be someone on our radar though. Quote

Norbert Rassragr Posted May 9 Posted May 9 Is Riis better than Gueye, Leonard and/or Vale? If yes, then maybe he could be the best we can hope for. Quote
MarkBRFC Posted May 9 Posted May 9 Personally I think he's probably better than all them. Vale should be released. Leonard needs a good loan and league below if possible. Gueye should only be a last resort option as something to hit in the box when losing, so 3rd choice starter at best. 1 Quote
Bbrovers2288 Posted May 9 Posted May 9 Danny ings released by West Ham, think he is a drop into the champ standard these days although at 32 he has a good few years yet, played for our ugly neighbours but I’d let it slide Quote

Even without the bastard baggage, I’m not sure how much is left to justify the huge wage it would take. Edited May 10 by Hasta 1 Quote

joey_big_nose Posted May 9 Posted May 9 Signing premier league players at the end of their careers usually turns into an expensive mistake. Not worth it imo. Id rather sign a player at that age who has performed at Championship level like we did with Baath. They know what it takes and are likely to be motivated rather than playing like they are disappointed to drop down a division. 8 Quote

JHRover Posted May 9 Posted May 9 I'm not even confident that we will get the likes of Hedges or Batth done, never mind anyone else. Clear as day that the regime is ensuring that we lose Tronstad, Travis, Brittain, Hyam and Carter, either on free transfers next year or sold at an undervalue this summer. All thanks to refusing to even discuss new improved terms. But even if you want to defend the regime and believe that those deals are 'difficult' ones due to cost or contract length (just another excuse, there should be nothing easier than sorting that lot out after their performances this season), the easiest of easy should be securing Hedges and Batth (assuming Ismael is being truthful that he wants to keep them). But I think time here is as much an issue as cost. We will not be proactive, we never are, reptiles like Waggott will be working out that thousands of pounds can be saved by allowing their current deals to expire and then offer them new terms the week before next season starts if they haven't got another club and hope they just accept whatever it is we are offering. Trouble is that a lot will simply find other clubs willing to take them. 1 Quote

waynerovers Posted May 10 Posted May 10 Just throwing it out there, anyone think Paul Mullin could do a job for us at this level with him being out of favour at Wrexham? 6 Quote
Popular Post roversfan99 Posted May 10 Popular Post Posted May 10 No. We shouldnt be signing a striker who was 5th or 6th choice for a side in League 1, behind players like Jay Rodriguez, Steven Fletcher and Jack Marriott. 10 Quote

I was under the impression that they rated him but he had a shocker of a season, including only making one appearance in a half season loan in Ireland before being dropped It looks as though injury may have played a part in that, but he was also not favoured for minutes when he was at Preston either He did play a fair amount (by comparison) the season before. Without knowing too much about what happened, maybe it ws just a case of him having a similar break out season, and then regression/finding his level that Adam Henley had? (how is he only 30? It seems like a lifetime ago) Edited May 10 by KentExile Quote

Nah. Top League 2 striker but no better than that. See how badly Langstaff has bombed at Millwall for proof. 3 Quote

Think I sold him actually 😂. Does he suit Ismael's style more than the likes of Gueye? If so then it's a no brainer given his age as well. Quote

If we are to assume that Ohashi is Ismael's style, then Riis has nothing like that kind of work rate Quote
