BankEnd Rover Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago Wasn't the Sagnan story the first real transfer break since Waggot left? To me shows the complete inexperience on Gestede...He probably had a chat with the lads agent and got excited!! Or has completely lied, to fool us all which is most probably the case. Quote

Posted this on the 22nd. Brittain "positive" contract talks and Sagnan in "advanced talks" lands on the 26th. Nearly 2 weeks later not another word uttered on either of them. All a smokescreen, nothing but predictable. Surely we all know how things work here now? 9 Quote
DutchRover Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago Unless the contract is signed any news of "interest/talks/trying" is utterly meaningless coming from Rovers. Even then we don't have a great track record... 2 Quote

Tomphil2 Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago 7 hours ago, bluebruce said: Essential costs vs transfer costs has utterly no relevance to an anti fraud or money laundering unit. Their remit is to deal with fraud, and money laundering. As far as has been heard, there is no official allegation by them of impropriety over transfers, and even if they suspect it (which we almost all do), the judge isn't on the anti fraud or money laundering team. In theory at least, he should follow the letter of the law. Government pressure notwithstanding, he would still have to be able to justify, legally, not permitting transfer funds but allowing electricity bills. There's also a very solid argument that transfer funds are an essential cost of running a football club. Like i said are Venkys going to request extra money to the court for transfers then pay an extra 50% on top to buy a player because of the bond ? It's a non starter and seeing as you've brought it up transfer fees will not be an essential running cost to an English football club in the eyes of an Indian judge whose dealing with objections to money transfer by his own govts anti fraud and money laundering unit. That is 'investment purposes' not running costs not when they are telling the judge they need money for the academy which produces our players. This is the Indian court system not a European one they'll have very little grasp on anything pro football wise you are being way too generous in your assumptions. Considering every item they want money for has to be proven then when paid receipts provided just so they can get their bond back i doubt transferring money to another football club and players agents fits in. It's not happening, not that they are asking for that anyway. 2 Quote

Season tickets sales nothing more nothing less. We have an absolute green novice in charge of the football now overseen by an utter penny pinching owners puppet so they think they are being clever playing the game. Waggot was an old hand a that so it's the same script but different voices and we still have half a small remaining fanbase who can't see through it. 5 Quote

JHRover Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago The whole basis of Venkys' argument seeking permission from the authorities in India to send money to Rovers via their holding company is that without this money Rovers goes into administration and the tax man and wages / suppliers are unpaid. A judge will be sympathetic to that. They will not want to be the person responsible for a business failing and all the fall out that comes with it. They can see that money is required. Totally different story to wanting to spend non-essential sums on a few new players because we fancy signing someone. Nobody can reasonably argue that this is essential expenditure. So those thinking that we are spending a few million this summer whilst all this is going on perhaps need to sit down and have more of a think about the financial crisis these owners have put us into due to their investigation in India. A crisis that has been running now for several years yet they've done nothing to resolve e.g. by selling/giving the club to someone who has the ability to fund it. Any money being paid out for players will have to be found from the club's own resources - either a portion of funds brought in from sales/sponsorship/receipts, perhaps borrowing or even some crafty working with the instalments. 3 Quote

Hasta Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago (edited) The club puts stories out to encourage fans to buy season tickets and stay invested. The likes of Jackson and Nixon peddle them to the fan base and some people lap it up. Nothing new. Of course we will bring new players in, but if there's a significant fee or other comparable interested parties we will lose out and not get them. I'd be surprised if any of the main players sign a new contract. If we can't get Baath and Weimann back in it tells it's own story. Reading between the lines with the player liaison lass that got let go, that was the final straw between some players and the clubs chiefs. Unless the recruitment team can pull some absolute gems out, next season is stagnation and the season after could be one of the biggest shitshows we've seen yet under Venkys. Wing Wizard Windy Miller Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago (edited) As far as I can tell, the owners haven't put money in for a significant period of time. ST targets won't be met. No matchday revenue. So where is any money for transfers coming from? Unless there's a Wharton sell on windfall at some stage, there isn't any.  As others have said, we can't get contract extensions done with our better players. For the sake of a few thousand extra on the wage bill, we will no doubt lose 20 times that in transfer fees - when they leave for cheaper fees or free.  Penny pinching with no foresight at all. I imagine we will pick up some out of contract random player from the Luxembourg league and a freebie 17 yr old kid loan by the start of pre season. Then it will be the late August scramble if we have managed to sell 2 or 3 by then. Happy 150 Rovers. You can't run a club like this. Fifteen years FFS . I'm presuming or should i say praying that the request for money for running costs is so the club can use some incoming instalment money to invest in a few players instead of all that going on wages etc. Otherwise we are up the creek signings wise. The reason Chaddy etc are trying to make out that it meant by the pre season camp is because the know there's absolutely no chance of this happening. 2 Quote
