"Its on him and his agent." You dont seem to acknowledge that theres a chance we simply did not offer a reasonable wage for a player at his level.

That's suit your argument diesn't it. I asked you a very simple question and you couldn't answer it, just waffle on about X and Y. I just don't know why you refused to answer simple answer

He could have renewed when GB was here if he was only 2k as the poster said on the other previous page.ย

Also, how can we "rely" on a player who has made only 1 start above the 8th tier, at right back, when he got sent off? As well as 3 or 4 other cameos.

We could hope he will at some stage be ready, but we cant or at least shouldnt just assume that he is ready now.

By all means keep him around and give him a chance here and there where required, but we cant "rely on him yet as we would do so without any evidence.

Back to this, I not going this same arguments about young players with you again. I get it, you don't favour bring youth players through, fine no problem, please ignore my comments on bringing through how young players through and playing them in the first team. I don't see the point if keep going around in circles over this issue every few weeks.ย

One transfer Iโ€™m fairly sure has happened is hair from one part of Pearsโ€™ head to another. The lad hasnโ€™t taken his hat off all summer. Must have been to Turkey on the quiet.

I have never once said that I dont favour youth players coming through. You suggested that we can rely on Montgomery though. I dont get how you can possibly have come to that conclusion yet.

He's said countless times he wants to play at the highest level, to a player in this country that's the premier league. Does anyone on here think Dolan is a premier league player?

Listen I'd prefer Dolan to stay, but none of us know what he's demanding. I doubt he'll ever amount to more than an average championship player though....

Iโ€™ll stick my neck out - Heโ€™s a hard working lad, heโ€™s a good attitude and he flatters to deceive (i.e, he sometimes looks a bit better than he really is). He also has shown steady improvement year on year. If he keeps that up someone may take a punt on him as a squad player in a team towards the bottom end of the Premier League for a season or two when he hits his peak. Heโ€™s still only 23, he could have another several years improving. Iโ€™m not saying heโ€™s ready for that level now. He needs to score more goals and continue to up his assists, just for starters. His decision making can also be lacking, thatโ€™s probably his biggest hurdle to overcome. However, Iโ€™ll stand by the fact heโ€™s a good kid with some talent, lots of effort, plenty determination and he clearly listens to his coaches - it can take a player a long way. He may surprise some of his critics on here.ย

Lets be honest, Dolans critics on here haven't got a clue and certainly can't see any bigger picture.

If you go to Ewood week in week out and are happy to see Dolan leave, your seat must be behind a pillar in The Riverside.ย

RoverInverness calls it spot on, why would we want to lose a player lie Dolan?

Bonkers.

Haven't got a clue because people have different opinions? He was ineffective in many games last season, downright wasteful and frustrating in others. He did however turn in some good appearances, the best ones though came towards the end of the season, putting himself in the shop window at all? Nobody knows what he's been offered, but one way or another the valuations don't meet.

Find me a player who doesn't want to play at the highest level. I'd be far more disappointed if he didn't have that ambition.

He has never once said he should be playing in the Premiership now.

Ya know, if you two blocked each other instead of having the same arguments (about many things), the amount of posts on this forum would probably drop by about 20%. Just saying.

If you think Dolan's going upwards from here career wise you'll be in for a shock. He's trying to get a move to a team, any team, that otherwise wouldn't typically pay a transfer fee to sign him. Either way I don't think he will have much of an impact wherever he goes, yes we could end up missing him since we relied far too heavily on him, I'll say it again... due to a lack of investment in his position to give him any sort of decent competition... Other teams probably wouldn't miss him as much since they'd spend a million or two on a replacement. He definitely won't get as many minutes as he did with us as close to the Championship top 6 again. If he somehow manages to fluke a prem move off the back of some decent Sky performances and OTT punditry with us, I can guarantee you he won't feature.

He has said it, multiple times, when specifically being asked about contract negotiations, not random interviews. If you don't think the 2 correlate so be it.

Seems that the passion we have for the club overspills sometimes and weve been driven to bloody madness.ย

Anyone fancy a pint in the locale one night on a random whim easier to chew the fat and put the world to rights?

Should do meet ups would be a laugh

I should think there would be great guffaws as we see the reality behind the keyboard warriorship! There's an interim stage we could adopt, which would be a virtual meet, using Zoom, Teams or similar, although I'd wager not many would attend as themselves and there'd be a lot of avatars in the room!

I'm going to get an 'Old Codger' badge made, and wear it in the Moorgate before games next season a few times, to see if I can smoke out some of you other curmudgeonly keyboard combatants ๐Ÿ™‚ย

Let's just say, my 'residual self image' (how I think I look to others in reality or in a virtual sense) is definitely well at odds with the physical reality of who and what I actually am ๐Ÿ˜‰

ย

And for the avoidance of doubt, I'm more akin to one of the chairs in the above, than either of the actors! (i.e. a bit battered, comfortably upholstered, lacking in hair, somewhat old-fashioned, but occasionally useful)

Well no because I'm not saying anyone who has a different opinion doesn't have a clue am I? You're saying anyone with a different opinion to you is basically wrong/clueless ๐Ÿ™„ We've had years of Dolan splitting opinions now, it's nothing new and there's a reason for that, because he's been consistently inconsistent.

Dolan is bang average.ย

The only issues here is letting another contract run down instead of paying the going rate for a championship player and whondo we replace him with.

In the 5 seasons he's played he can't have played well in more than 20 games.

This is my opinion of course. And watching him week in week out he has probably been the most frustrating player I've watched over the last 30 years.

But he does run around alot.

(Although looks like he's running in quicksand )

Dolan had a brilliant last few months in a rovers shirt and was probably our best player.
ย

Whether that is him improving and becoming more effective or just a blip is a matter of debate. The Dolan of prior seasons I would have been less upset to see leave.
ย

He is a an honest and hard working lad though so would like to think itโ€™s improvement rather than him just working a bit harder for a big move.

Definitely be missed next season.

If Dolan is "bang average" what does that make Hedges?

I've been a big critic of Dolan but he had his best season in a Rovers shirt last season. He tries hard and more usual than not, he has an impact on the game because he grabs the bull by both its horns and has a go. But he's also highly ineffective in his decision-making, as well as in his final delivery. He shouldn't be too hard to replace but I won't say he won't be missed until I see who we line up with in his place.ย

He may have had his best season ever, I agree on every point.

For an attacking winger his contributions other than fitness and tracking back are null.
