simongarnerisgod Posted July 1 Posted July 1 (edited) it`s looking to me that the chicken abusers and their pet pasha are doing to the mens team what they did to the womens, slashing costs to the absolute bone, that means everyone who is of any value is up for sale and there will only be cheap replacements to fill out the squad, come the start of the season there will be half a team of academy lads and the rest of the side will be the ones they could`nt sell i hope im`e wrong, but all the thats happpened so far transfer wise, indicates disaster Edited July 1 by simongarnerisgod not finished 1 Quote

Popular Post Emerald Isle Rover Posted July 1 Popular Post Posted July 1 Batth for one year is a criminal loss on rovers part - no excusesย I defended and still do that I wouldnโt have offered him two years but losing him to sign one year elsewhere is disgracefulย 10 Quote

I think with players of that age you have to park the number for a moment and examine how well they've actually performed. Someone cited examples earlier of players who'd been given two year deals in the past who shouldn't have been. I'd argue it was clear that Downing was slowing down mid way through his first deal and shouldn't have got another one and tbh I never rated Ayala in the first place. I wouldn't have given Weimann another deal either as I'm not sure his ability to pop up occasionally in the right place at the right time compensated for the fact his legs have gone. Edit: McFadzean was a lot older than Batth and again imo should never have been given a second deal On the other hand although a similar age to Weimann, Batth's powers showed no sign of waning last season. As such on a one year deal he represents no more of a risk than any other player. Bloody hell, we've spent E3m on Kargbo and Tavares and it seems they can barely make it through a training session between them! ย Edited July 1 by RevidgeBlue 3 Quote
Backroom Tom Posted July 1 Backroom Posted July 1 Batth is a good signing for Derby, Weimann a handy back up but not too sad about that one. I think as a Derby fan though youโd want to see a little creativity from the manager especially if he brings Sanderson in.ย 4 Quote

Ayala - madness to give a player with his history a 3 year deal Weimann - not a loss like Batth but we've no one else like him with an ability to make things happen from the bench. Batth - I think of how good Kevin Moran and Tony Gale were for us as centre backs (in the PL as well!!!) and both older than Batth!!!!ย IMO, Batth a massive loss and will be interesting to see how Hyam goes, that's if he isn't flogged!!!, without him. As for Kargbo and Tavares, I'd be amazed if it's even cost half of the ยฃ3million up front but agree with you the omens, as to their physicality and ability to be available for 90% of games, aren't good.ย As an aside what is Tavares' injury?ย 3 Quote

Run the club properly, get the fans back onside and the town behind the club again and you do not need Billionaires nor do you need to lose more than 20 million every year. They are either the stupidest pig ignorant dozy people on the planet or they are the cleverest pulling the illusion of a lifetime. Edited July 1 by Tomphil2 8 Quote

booth Posted July 1 Posted July 1 Both players are on their last legs and I'd be disappointed if I was a Derby fan, but I'd rather them doing a job for us as squad players than them. Baath is the one we'll miss the most but Weimann chipped in with some goals that won't be replaced. The likely replacements won't be very good and that's the main issue. Quote

Tomphil2 Posted July 1 Posted July 1 Weimann banged in 7 goals and a few assists in 30 appearances which isn't half bad for a 30 odd year old freebie whose legs are on the way out. Considering the punts on so called development players to make money on like Ennis, Telo etc and a few of our own kids kind of puts into perspective the flaws of the way they keep trying to go. 6 Quote
sharpysharps86 Posted July 1 Posted July 1 You can guarantee Weimann will go back to scoring against us as he always used to. Will probably bag in the 150th anniversary gameย ๐ฅฒ. We can debate how much impact Batth and Weimann will have at Derby with them both being another year older, but the fact is I think most of us would've welcomed keeping them on. They've clearly gone to join up with Eustace, which goes to show how well liked he was. If Dolan goes there too....well that just sums it all up. Absolutely no sign of Rovers doing anything at the moment either. Depressing and comical in equal measure. 1 Quote
