With Gassama, aside from the big question marks over the authenticity of the interest, and crucially any willingness to pay what the fee is that they would demand.

I think he is better from the left drifting in. We have 2 from the left and then only the useless Hedges on the right so would it even make sense?

Beyond the point of tentative enquires, supposed interest and going down rabbit holes where it takes us ages to realise that players are unaffordable. We need to start getting players in to get them bedded in and set for the full season, doesnt seem like that is going to happen.

We also need to figure out what is going on with Tronstad, Travis and Brittain. No closer there either.

Also, I love that Nixon was apparently saying that we have cash bids in to try and get people paying for his patreon.

Turns out to be 2 inquiries, one we have backed away from due to price.

I could have a beef with you about that joke, but I won’t as there isn’t mushroom on this site for more jokes.Β

So how much do we all expect Β the club to spend on new players between now and the end of the summer window?Β

Nothing!

Two deals done so far and dressed-up to the nines I think with add-on clauses that are unlikely to happen - Β£3 to 4million for the likes of Chaddy!Β  Doubt more than Β£500k up front in total for both deals.Β Β

IF, and it's a big feckin IF, we spend any more on transfer fees up front (not add-ons for the gullible), I expect the outlay to be more than offset by the sale of at least one and even possibly three of Brittain, Hyam, Travis, Tronstad, Tyjon and Higgins.

It all depends what the starting 11 is.

If there is one that goes into the starting 11, then it will be a downgrade on what we had previously.

That's how it works here.

I come to this topic for the gossip even if it won't come true. It's painful wading through the treacle of negativity...this is a summer transfer thread, brighten up.Β

Seriously?

It is possible to take a transfer rumour on its own merits, without dragging every other issue the club faces into a discussion, just saying!Β

Yes seriously.Β  I walk past a car showroom every day looking at a 50,000 pound sports car hoping I will buy it one day even though it won't come true

Not really, because every other issue in that discussion will directly impact that transfer rumour.

Gassama in general is a laughable one.

The deckchairs look lovely in their blue and white stripes, all lined up in neat rows. The band sounds brilliant...oh, shit, there's an iceberg!

Fair enough your final sentence, I disagree, Wednesday are in a financial mire, and I’m not suggesting there isn’t β€œnuance” but do we all need to be reminded about players on final years in every response? Β My view is an unequivocal β€œno”. The rationale for that is, we already know - bore off.

He may well be rated but he isn’t worth 3million would be one of the top sales from league one ever….not to mention we won’t be paying that regardlessΒ

You are buying potential just like Hull did when they signed Hughes from Wigan when they paid around Β£4m for him last summer. Pye is highly rated from reports but you would pay a upfront fee and then rest in add ons and potential add ons. Something like Β£1.5m with Β£1m in addons and 10% sell on clause.Β

I will believe the owners are willing to spend when they, you know, actually spend money...

true but Nixon has said that the owners are willing to back Ismael with more funds. Nixon has said they like him.Β

As of today is he better than either of Carter or Hyam ? Is he even a better shout that Pickering an emergency centre back ? Β The days of spending big for the future are over at Rovers. We need players to go straight into the starting 11.

Pickering isn't centre back firstly.Β

What is spending big for the future? what is big?Β

Pye is only 21 years old so would you expect to be better than proven championship centre backs in Carter and Hyam? he is left footed centre back which gives you more balance in your back 4.Β

Far to many clubs will be in for him who we will refuse to compete with.

Budgets are budgets at the end of the day, if he’s signed by a team with more than a β€œpittance” in turnover or parachute payments, you’d call it a lack of ambition, I’d call it the reality of a shite financial climate.

Why don’t you write us a Bob Vylan style folk song titled β€œDeaf to the VHG”

Β Even if its true, means no one is close. No bids close to the actual asking price.

Would Gassama not be able to leave for free due to breach of contract? Either way, doesnt sound as if we are close to actually having a bid accepted. He is more of a left winger and is quite erratic, he isnt as productive as Dolan. He is quick and young and would be a good option to have but I certainly wont hold my breath.

Centre back stuff makes little sense either. We need a centre back to go straight into the team to replace Batth. Why would we go from a centre back who we have bid Β£1.5m which isnt enough who is 27 to a 21 year old whose club are demanding Β£3m?

Gassama is having his wages price so the Sheffield Wednesday can get a transfer fee for him. He can play anywhere in the front 3 and he gives you exactly what we want in our team. He got 7 goals last season which is the same as Dolan.Β

How does the centre back situation not make sense? Pye is highly rated and someone where you are buying potential and British so the fee will be higher as why so many clubs look overseas for players.Β

1000% correct, I would rather talk about transfers stories then read the same old posts from posters week after week repeating the same old points

It was a mock interview confusing the Vylan/Dylan and deaf/death...

Seriously, though, don't you find it hard to talk seriously about transfer targets, blocking out all the concerns about the overall running of the club?
