On joining Batth talked about forcing himself into the team.

Check my post history, I liked him in his first few months here but then he seemed to decline. He was obviously much better last year as his forward play was excellent but I still found him frustrating when it came to defending. 

I don't think we'll miss his as defending but we're going to miss him going forward.

He's a more athletic version of JRC (at RB). Very good going forward, good enough defensively when he's set, but still lacks a little pace (obviously JRC lacked a lot of pace). 

We'll miss him when he goes.

No. Football is squad game nowadays and Batth came here as a squad player. How much played all depends on performances, form, and results. 

Which is exactly the same thing he was added to the squad to come in for one of the first choice centre defenders when one got injured, dropped or suspended, or even sold.

Therefore he was clearly seen as back up to them when he first arrived.

Trying to alter the wording doesn't make any difference to the actual reality.

If we've bid on a winger, who's in his last year of his contract, then I hope it's Parfait Guiagon. This is purely speculating on that we're only looking at players in the Belgian league 😂

The guy is an absolute rocket of a winger!

I’m a bit confused here. A squad player surely isn’t a first choice. Therefore he’s a backup player who plays now and again as cover.
Or are you saying squad players are expected to start quite a few games and be key to the first team?

most players are squad players cos players are rotated and rested and have very few outfield players will play 46 league games. Some players are key players and will start every game when fit like Brittain, Hyam, Tronstad, Travis but others will play depending on form, fitness and performances  

Batth would starts some games and given that he hadn't signed until week/10 days before the start of the season he would always start before Carter and Hyam but performances from him would force himself into the team.

And if you said not to worry as Forshaw was only 5th choice, why did you keep telling us he had signed as a “squad player” if that’s not a backup player?
