I'd rather have Pears on the bench than turn to the u21 keepers. alexanders Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago ArsenalΒ may be harder to resist given their strong track record of promoting young talent. They have already signed Christian Norgaard, Kepa and Noni Madueke in the summer. From the article about Tyjon. Thatβs quite contradictory. Saying in one sentence that they have a strong record of promoting talent and now trying to to buy their way to the top.Β Β not many homegrown talents left in Arsenal. Most have gone elsewhere.Β Β 2 Quote
alex l Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago I dont want to create an arsenal discussion but Saka, Lewis-Skelly, Nwaneri and to a lesser extent Martinelli are all 'home grown' 3 Quote
Ossydave Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Bamford has been told to find a new club, 30+, final year of his contract, it's the type of situation that would see our ears prick up (obviously the wages not so much). Wouldn't be surprised if you spot some ITK's banding his name about saying we're working on a deal blah blah blah in the coming weeks..... Quote
MarkBRFC Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Under Eustace Bamford was a plausible link. Can't see any qualities in him whatsoever that Val would like though. Plus like you say we wouldn't entertain those wages anyway. 2 Quote
alex l Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago We were linked to Bamford by some last year. Huge wages aside, his injury record was also pointed out as being poor since his glamour season in the prem Quote
Paul Mani Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago (edited) I think we need the following, in this order assuming no sales of key players: 1) RW - Dolan replacement / better than Hedges (easy to find as both are average) 2) CB - We need one more. Carter is made of glass and Wharton early back from a long injury. 3) CM - Trav, Sonny, Tavares, +1 Fwiw - I donβt think we need another striker. I would be really inclined to put my trust in Yuki and big Mak who I think will get better after a year in the league and a full preseason. Β Edited 4 hours ago by Paul Mani 4 Quote

No I'm not saying there would be genuine interest just to be clear, it just ticks a few boxes that would make someone like Nixon or Nathan Jones say we're "working on a cut price deal to secure the services of him" that's all. In reality, maybe someone like Wrexham would take a punt, failing that I would be surprised if he went overseas somewhere.Β 1 Quote

chaddyrovers Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago 11 hours ago, roversfan99 said: I get that the right wide player tucks in, but the setup doesn't specifically need a right winger who offers nothing in attack to work. It would surely work better if an attacker from that position could offer a threat that would really give defences problems knowing that there's an attacking right back to deal with at the same time. Hedges got in some good positions yesterday and played the right pass to Brittain for his assist. He played a great weight pass for Ohashi's winner at Luton last season. Plus he has been regular under the previous 2 head coaches and Ismael wanted him to stay this season.Β 9 hours ago, roversfan99 said: I think the 3 attacking players are more important certainly than central midfield. Number wise though, 6/7 turning to 8/9 hopefully is what we will get baring in mind 2 or 3 extra departures. And of course more if any one else important leaves. we were short in midfield last season cos when injuries hit and we lost Baker aswell, we were short. We need 5 options in there and right now we have this Still need in terms of players in, right sided attacking player, another forward and centre back. if we made those 3 signings, we have 25/26 man squad Quote
