Ohashi finally got a partner .. they been looking for another Japanese player ever since Yuki arrived ….. The least they will give you is hard work ..  Been an exciting window up to now … Ismael Adam Owen & Gestede have done well on the limited budget … Like someone else said I love Japanese players .. they are exciting and a rising power in football …. More the merrier…..

"Exciting" isn't the word I'd use tbh.

Good luck to this lad if the move comes off though. At 2m E it would be towards the top end of our transfer range.

Travis money being spent?

Surely in the general scheme of things another left sided player is the last thing we need with Kargbo,  De Neve and Hedges already on the books?

(Albeit the latter two are crap)

Aren't two of the three you mentioned right-footed ? Perhaps we are going to try that revolutionary new tactic of playing players on their favoured sides ?

I would hope you are joking and not saying the club is racially profiling players

Completely agree on the value of Japanese players. They have a great work ethic and they seem to assimilate really quickly which is probably a reflection of Japanese culture.

And from Rovers perspective they don't cost a fortune. 😂

I think with Yuki, it would be a great advantage if he had a partner up front with whom he could build an understanding. That would build his confidence and allow him to be on the end of things rather than having to create his own opportunities all the time. I suspect he is a better poacher than creator, to be fair, and that if we set up to actually play to his strengths, we might be very pleasantly surprised by the results.

Interesting times, if this rumoured new addition comes to fruition. It is, of course, still a big IF 😉

Tbf saying they are "hard working" is a compliment.

He's a 6'5" CF that wins almost everything in the air

That’s the problem.

He actually doesn’t win almost everything, and when he does win them the control of the header isn’t the best. That knock down for Weimann was a false dawn of what we were expecting.

Dont get me wrong I hope he stops as an option, and he is a slight upgrade on Gally, but he’s not the handful people seem to think he is.

Not sure that’s ‘disrespect’, just being honest

No idea. All I know is they've lined up on the left side for us to date.

He wouldn't score 18 goals, but he'd have far more Goals and Assists than Gallagher. He leads the line better than anyone we've had for a while - he holds the ball up and brings others into play.

He's a 6'5" CF that wins almost everything in the air and we've never, ever consistently crossed the ball into the box for him. Only Brittain was able to put in good service for him - Hedges and Dolan just hit and hoped on their crosses.

As for yesterday - it's very difficult to get back onside once you've made your run. I'd have to look at it again, but Cantwell was showboating at that point - he could have put Hendrikson in for a clear chance in the second half, but wanted another goal - and delayed the pass. Also it was saved by the GK.

I'm not saying he's the next Drogba, but the disrespect he gets on here is baffling. We're in the Championship, all of our players have serious flaws, yet Gueye is one of the few that seems to be constantly dragged over the coals for his.

He doesn’t get that much disrespect on here to be fair. It’s only really roversfan99. Most others see Gueye for what he is - a troublesome presence who is at his level in the football pyramid.

He nailed his colours to the mast last year. Think he’s fishing again with a recent flurry of “Gueye is crap” comments. It’s a bit weird considering he’s spent the last 3 years having a pop at Rev for not liking Gallagher……….

We badly need a striker. Regardless of sales, but I would happily let Gueye go.

No excuse not to get one. We wanted one at the start of the summer, and nothing has happened to reduce that need.

I want to Gueye, we need a plan B and Gueye is that.

Travis certainly has. To have Ismael repeatedly calling him out in the press and worse still, to have someone internal hiding behind that anonymous privy twitter account tweeting about him (and Brittain) is just totally lacking class.

He happily played against West Brom despite rumours and we know what this club is like. Still, attempts to make him seem the villain seem to have partly worked and some idiots will be ordering one more inflatable snake for the Derby game.

Why has travis been let down? cos the head coach Ismael told the truth to a question from the media? so he should have protect the player and lied to the fans?

2 hours ago, roversfan99 said:

He also said yesterday that Travis had let his team mates down. Just seems unnecessary, didnt have to say that.

what was the question asked to him? if Travis has refused to play hasn't he let down his team mates, Ismael and the fans down there?

2 hours ago, roversfan99 said:

But as I said, its not what Ismael has said that doesnt sit right. That twitter account is clearly beyond just your average ITK. Its clearly someone on the inside that has got every single thing right that he/she has said. But is clearly either trying or is under instruction to try and make those leaving seem unreasonable/unprofessional to turn fans against then.

Nothing to do with an agenda. Its not how a football club should be operating, posting things like that behind a cryptic twitter account.

You look at Everton at the moment. Moyes has mentioned a potential leak of transfer info etc so is trying to flush it out. Any club would. This club is proactively leaking this info to make itself look as positive as it can despite shedding so many key players and being totally incapable of sorting new contracts.

you seem obsessed with this twitter account and what the account has said? has the account been wrong ever? or maybe the account has been the fans the truth?

That's why they are unrealistic, Rovers do not pay the wages that a top level Championship player such as Adam Armstrong or Rak-Sakyi would want.

This is why we are looking for "unpolished gems" (Im being positive after yesterday) from the european lower leagues

Signing maybe not but certainly a loan. We will lose Travis wages, maybe buckleys and pears too, plus we managed to get cantwell on decent wages last year, definitely potential to push the boat out for the right player

Everyone was loving him when he was playing really well turn of the year. Then he had a bit of a dip, then Eustace left in early feb, and since then under Ismael Gueye hasnt had a single good game.

On form hes a great asset, but its not surprising hes getting brickbats when he has been really poor for  a long time now.

Certainly seems like Ismael isn't a fan which doesnt help. But then again we dont seem to be signing a striker so maybe he does a future?

Having said that, they've not exactly stormed the early part of the season so far, have they? If we were to go on a decent run, I'm sure we would see a lot more excitement and energy post match from the players. Anyway, most of them have only just been introduced, so it is a little early for bonding and 'team spirit' to have developed.

I'd call it somewhat exciting I suppose. Good and bad, proof is.in the pudding with the signings and the window isn't done yet. I certainly don't think Gestede deserves the job and I don't particularly like him either especially how he left as a player but at least he and his team seem to be having a good crack at improving us under a tight budget. I can't say I'm disappointed to see them trying to bring in players who want to prove themselves in this league rather than blokes who've hit their potential ceiling. It could also be presented as a cost cutting exercise which on one hand its a factor but on another the players that have left or are leaving might simply not be worth the money they're asking for.

I'm at a point now we've meandered and existed in this league for that long that I'm ok with someone coming in and taking a risk with some players with potential and if it fucks up and blows up in their face then they look like a bunch of dicks anyway.

We've loaned in Baradji - maybe they've realised we need a loan or two to round out the squad?

I was responding to the suggestion to loan in Adam Armstrong or Rak Sakyi (or any similar established top Championship talent)

I was not torpedoing the idea of loans full stop

They've absolutely slashed the wage budget again.

That hard and fast £10k weekly salary ceiling seems to absolutely be a thing.

Don’t know why you think we couldn’t get rak sakyi on loan, we have had loans from Liverpool and Brighton the past few years

Yes, players on their first loan out at this level, not established Championship players who have already performed  at this level
