Eustace (kind of) did get this backing. JDT was the unlucky loser when it came to real investment in the squad.ย

I've seen a fair bit of Soumane, he could probably best be described as a more complete version of Gueye. He's fast, but not rapid. Good hold-up play, but you can't exactly run your attacking play through him. Decent finisher.ย

The direct comparison stuff is a little odd. Truth is weโ€™ve completely changed tact. The profile of player we want is like chalk and cheese to what we had.ย

Same formation, but a different approach.ย

Clearly want one of the DMs to be a box-to-box CM. Wants to press high up the pitch rather than employing a low block.

So the total opposite!

In what world!?

Eustace got a bunch of free transfers and loans. I don't think he had any real say in Ohashi and Gueye arriving. Cantwell was meant to be the jewel in the crown, but he wasn't an expensive transfer.ย

He obviously wanted nothing to do with the crap they brought in in January which is part of the reason why he left.ย

And where the hell is the money coming from to fund Soumano? No chance sorry.ย

At ยฃ5m there's no chance. At circa ยฃ2m I reckon we've got the budget there if Travis / Buckley / Pears leave.ย

Quite excited to see Morishita. Should be at his peak and seems to be coming off a good season. We need attacking threat and hopefully he can give us a new dimension.

It is critical that we sign a striker and its never really felt likely. Not convinced by this Soumane link, especially with suggestions that he has his heart set on Widzew Lodz (who?). But I hope we do get someone in.

I get that, and theres obviously a different manager. I suspect a downgrade considering how much Eustace was getting out of the squad he had.

But its hard to deny that if you do a direct comparison, the contributions of Travis, Brittain, Dolan, Batth and to a lesser extent Weimann and Beck of last season do leave considerable holes.

Some players that we already had may do better (or worse) too. Its not a linear comparison necessarily. But we have lost a lot of important players. Hopefully weve gained a lot of quality too.

I think, with whatever money is left in the budget(!), we need to throw it at a young, talented Prem forward who needs a season in the Championship.

I'm not overly familiar with all things Prem these days, but there must be one who fits that profile.

No idea on whether Morishita is any good or not, hadn't heard of him before yesterday.
But the Polish fans being devastated at him being sold is a promising sign.

Henriksson will be a good player I recon. Once he gets up to speed. Might even take a season.ย

His ex club were glowing about him.. as you say will take a little timeย

Exit Gueye and enter Soumano - yes please.

Big changes to the squad this summer, hope they all gel and hit the ground running. Much needed addition of trickery/flair and pace into the squad, and a lot more adventurous in the market than before.
