Remember when we gave Sheff U 1 million for a lad named Slew with the intention to loan him back but i think he ended up somewhere else but on a very good Rovers contract.

Hmmm....

Just looked him up. We paid ยฃ1.1m for him in 2011 when in the Premier League and he made 1 appearance before being loaned out in 2012ย  to Stevenage then Oldham/Rotherham/Ross County and Port Vale before having his contract terminated in 2015.

Guess his agent would have been happy enough.

Younger guys on loan have longer to make moves if I remember rightly.

Don't think so.ย

You can sign players outside the window who are free agents.

my predictions is for 2 signings tomorrowย

roll on 7pmย

No chance we get in two. Even if we do weโ€™ll probably fail the paperwork because if we canโ€™t sort that out at 11 pm, crikey I wonder what would happen at 7pmย

Prediction:

Alan Browne will come in, along with two (far too young/raw) PL loans join last minute - at GK and LW/RW.

Leonard goes, Pears goes (or is mutually terminated), and unfortunately, I'm going to predict Tyjon gets sold to Arsenal. Batty and another kid gets loaned out too.

... and Junior Hoilett signs a new long-term contract!ย

What do you mean? I don't think age comes into it at all.

I suspect what you're thinking of is youth players making loan moves after our window closes, but that's because they're moving to non-league teams who have a different window system for loans.

I'm interested to see who goes out. Leonard sounds about done but Pears will be looking.

Yeah once the window closes that includes loans.ย

A number of years ago, they had an extra window for loans but thay has long since gone.

You can only then sign free agents and they would have had to be free agents when the window closed.

VI quoted over the weekend as having no interest in Browne and not looking to bring a keeper in, same old stuff about needing pathway for the younger guys. Also said whilst it can change and opportunities can come up quickly, no loans were being looked at.ย

Any other teams transfers will be irrelevant now Liverpool have had a bid accepted for Isak and Sky are wanking themselves into a frenzy about it ๐Ÿคฃ Huge fee that for someone so injury prone but if he stays fit they're gonna be unstoppable, especially if they get Guehi too.

Out of interest, can anyone remember the last deadline day where we had literally no incomings? Surely there will be something in the pipeline....

Someone will get Fofana on loan today and I'll look on enviously.

How long before we get an under/over market on "here we go" social posts?

Prediction. Leonard out

No incomings.ย

I will add

Loan out for Jake Batty, and Pears to somewhere (although I suppose Pears could end up somewhere overseas as there are still plenty of other countries windows open for at least next week or so, maybe he fancies an extended stay in Turkey after his summer holiday, or Gestede utilising his new contracts in Saudi Arabia to get hikm a move there?

Prediction for deadline day.

No signings, the biggest news being Leonard being sold and one or two young lads like Batty going out on loan.

A brief period where someone (probably Alan Nixon) links us to a deal that was never happening, the rumour lasts an hour or two before fizzling out.

This is exactly how it will play out.

An extended stay in Turkey so he's closer to the hair transplant clinic perhaps!!

Yep, we arent in a position to spend a reasonable fee on players to be immediately loaned out.

I really hope (but doubt) that we are trying to shift Gueye however possible. And someone like Cadamarteri might be good to push Ohashi and Gudjohnsen.

But we need a central midfielder, goalkeeper and winger more urgently than a striker.

Why would the club buy him and loan him back, If they're not in a position to do so?ย

Well, if VI is complicit in project 'new broom' he will only have himself to blame if the experiment backfires and he and the team bear the brunt of criticism during and after games from our blinkered and easily hoodwinked fanbase. Should a miracle occur and Rovers actually do well this season (we wish!) imagine the impact on all the rest of the teams at this level - bloated squads and overpaid prima-donnas will be jetisoned in favour of lean and hungry teamsheets and cheap makeweights around dressing rooms, with everyone clamouring for 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th tier players from overseas...

Disruptive innovation, I believe it is called (when it works). Stupidity and asset stripping, I believe it is termed when it all goes tits up...

I know where my instinct tells me we are headed (although I'd be delighted to be shown to be an old codger and a buffoon)

And yes, the above isn't 'tits up' it is down.

By that, I mean that any remaining funds should go towards getting players for now as we are still short.

He probably wouldn't have got the job if he didnt sign up to it

And if that is the case, at least they have been up front to a manager/head coach for once...

Well at least until they decide to change up "project new broom" for "project clean sweep", or "project hands washed"
