I'm sure you know this, being how much you tend to check into the rules, but in recent windows at least, you have a deadline to get initial paperwork in principle in to show the deal is highly progressed, then you get another couple of hours to dot the i's and cross the t's.

I can understand if you are going sell him due to his contract ending at the end of the season but not to have a proper replacement to replace him isn't good enough

I’m sure you’re right it’s just clubs get months on end to do transfers and then get leeway as if the deadline has just suddenly snuck up on them.

I’m actually quite excited by a few of the lads we’ve signed, or I would be, the problem is we’ve just gutted the rest of the squad and a few potentially creative players is merely window dressing even if they turn out well.
