I would be surprised if they do!

I don't think building a stronger squad is on their agenda - IMO, it's all about slashing costs and getting rid of the 'dissenters' in the club whether it be players, football staff or other staff.

Spot on.ย

They've denied it all, but based on the treatment of the LET and Elliott Jackson, it's quite evident how they treat people that aren't 'aligned'.

Easiest one possible to do, but at least its one done.ย

Think he will be decent in league one.

Let's see if they get anyone over the line that isn't a Rovers fan.

I really wouldn't be surprised if he's off in January.

I'd assume Scotty was an easy one to do given all the variables and i doubt he;ll be going anywhere soon.

Then again when the forces in the shadows get to work anything can happen i wouldn't trust these feckers as far as i could shove them. Every player is a ยฃ sign and potential commission as is their cheaper wage replacements.

I dont think its to cash in as I cant see a flurry of teams or any decent fees being offered. Has serious injury red flags even if he has a run of games between now and January. Hes a decent age but not young enough to cause a spike in price. And although hes usually solid, I dont think that his Watford return is by any means standard for him.

Its an easy deal to do, obviously a Rovers fan, not a player playing above his level, weak negotiating power considering the injuries and all thats been done is a year added. A good decision to sign him up but it wont be a big wage spike by any means.

According to Ismael, in 10 days, we'll have a clear time frame on Baradji's return.

VI said medium term what ever that means.ย  It is becoming more and more apparent that they had no clue as tonthe actual extent of his injust or what it would take to get him healthy.ย  Idiots the lot of em.

As for Scotty's new contract well that is to help inflate his sale price nothing more nothing less.ย  A real dumbass move shipping Hyam off but they just don't care they don't not a one of em.ย  January outs, Tronstadt, Wharton and Cantwell.

Apparently the below is the full quote

Moussa Baradji

The Blackburn Rovers summer signing had surgery on a pre-existing foot problem. Ismael initially ruled him out until after the October break but did caveat that it could take longer.

Now, it appears that Rovers fans will likely have to wait until December for his debut, though more will become clear in the next week.

"He made good progress, we will have a clear picture within 10 days," Ismael said ahead of the match against Stoke City.

"Then we'll know how long it'll be but he's making good progress. Hopefully, in my mind, it's after the November international break that we see him.

"Nothing has gone against that but in 10 days we'll have a better picture.

โ€œThe big chance we have with Moussa is settling him properly with an apartment and with everything he needs for him and his family.

โ€œThe next step is to pass his rehabilitation and to make him ready to make sure when he is back on the pitch that heโ€™ll be able to stay on there and help us."

Appreciate the update on Baradji at least it is something.ย  Foot injuries can be difficult due to limited blood flow.ย  Must be handled properly or it will become a life long struggle.

Must be handled correctly yes.ย

The question is why did we choose to replace Travis with him when we knew about this issue.

My guess is he was the first choice and they must've felt that someone else would get him if we didn't jump in now. But even so maybe we should've moved on to someone else.

They did try for a couple more, unfortunately their unwillingness to pay the going rate in wages led to Brian De Keersmaecker signing for Oxford & Mรกrk Kosznovszky ending up at Portsmouth, although I believe thatย Kosznovszky was probably an alternative to Henriksson rather than Baradji

https://lowertiers.co.uk/blackburn-to-move-for-mark-kosznovszky/

Edit - I suppose that the silver lining here is that De Keersmaecker especially has adapted very quickly to the Championship, winning a few plaudits, so if our scouting team identified them alongside Baradji, then hopefully if/when he is fit, he becomes as important to Rovers as he has been to Oxford.ย

The other option of course is that we just plumped for the cheaper (and less good) option

This is the mindset about everything at the club.

Cheap wins, regardless of quality.

You would envisage this is another easy one to get done.

Personally I will accept that they have learned their lesson with contracts if they manage to convince a few of Cantwell, Tronstad (who is probably off), Toth & Alebiosu (who has only just signed but will be on a very low wage and needs tying down long term)

Yep.

Wharton Blackburn lad, Montgomery nowhere near good enough, probably add Hedges to the "renewals" before the season is out too. They will then class those three as huge wins.

Like above, get Cantwell or Toth signed up on longer/better deals and I might start to come around.

I bet they don't.

Agree with that

Ohashi (based on age & him being a decent, hard working, but not spectacular player at Championship level) & Carter (based on injuries) would be 2 more who they could probably tie down relatively cheaply and easily.ย ย

I wouldn't be adverse to either of those, as long as any extension for Carter was fairly heavily weighted towards him being fit & playing.ย

With our current budget, both are decent squad players at minimum

There was talk of a new contract for Hedges a while back but it's been very quiet on that front since.ย

He is 30 years old now though, so I assume that's played a part.

You would think getting him on another contract would be almost a formality, strange they haven't got it done and then sang from the roof tops about it.

Unless he is already on (or very close to)ย the alleged ยฃ10K/week cap - not beyond the realms of possibility, he originally agreed a move to Rovers at the end of his contract with Aberdeenย (which normally means slightly higher wages anyway), before Rovers agreed to pay ยฃ200K to sign him earlier, & this was whilst Rovers were not under the current self imposed financial restraints, and/or he possibly fancies a pay rise

As we have seen with Hyam, Rovers have not been offering pay rises to established first team players, which may be an issue that they are able to side step by offering more than an extra year, but they also seem unwilling to do that

Hedges would have some serious cheek to ask for a pay rise.ย  He has only just started playing well for a few games.

Ngl I still don't care if he leaves at the end of the season as it stands.

Depends on what a very average Championship player can expect at any other Championship club

If it is more than what he is currently on, then he would be mad not to

Which I am sure is what the majority on here would think

However, the self imposed wage restrictions do seem to mean that the only players who are willing to sign contracts with us fall into at least one of the following categories

- young academy graduates

- unknown quantities from abroad

- players with questionable injury histories

- fans of the club

- players who are not good enough - such as the numerous wide players that have not been able to oust Hedges from his spot in the team

ย

The fact thatย  even when they tried, they couldn't tie down a soon to be 30 year old, very average (at best) Championship performer Hedges down to a contract extension, shows just how much less Rovers are offering than their rivals

If they'd offered Hedges anything half decent he'd have snatched their hands off surely, even the old 1 yr extension on the same terms.

To be honest i think a years extension on the same terms is the maximum they should be offering him.
