I understand the former player thing, but I don’t understand why Rhodes. I don’t feel like he has ever come across as an authority of any sort. I saw him perhaps as a coach or scout first.

I’d have thought a Loan Manager would at least have experience of scouting or coaching (maybe he does tbf).

Genuine guy, connection to the club, worked his way through the leagues, has family (and hopefully the connections that come with) in the game.

I can’t see it as a problem really. Better than a black hole.

I have nothing against Rhodes, he makes my post-Venky X1 every day of the week, one of my favourites.

But which of those things qualifies him for a role managing the development of academy/reserve players (requires coaching experience) and their loan moves (requires experience dealing with other clubs, agents, and scouting)?

 * Sam Hayball (Arsenal) - Previously a video and match analyst for Arsenal.
 * Josh Marsh (Chelsea) - Formerly held scouting and managing director roles.
 * Gary Probert (Liverpool) - Was Director of Football Operations at Ipswich Town.
 * Jonny Evans (Manchester United) - Recently retired player for the club.
 * Carlton Cole (West Ham) - Former striker, has worked with the academy.
 * Will Antwi (Tottenham Hotspur) - Ex-professional player, coached England's U15 team.
 * Paul Furlong (Queens Park Rangers) - Former QPR player, coached previously for QPR

 

I agree to an extent, the most ambitious clubs aren’t hiring a novice for this role, which is a modern requisite - especially teams with large investment in youth. I think Chelsea had 30+ players on loan a few seasons. However I agree more with parsonblue - this is a sensible, whilst likely cheap, appointment of someone who could be an asset for that role.

Also, as this took till after the window closed to sort out, that again shows what we’re up against with the current main CEO.

Absolutely mental, and all extremely worrying to be honest. For us older fans who had the joys of Williamson, to this in 15 years, it's a disgrace how things are being run. We was one of the best run town teams around. (Without doubt) RG sounds like a right @ss. Pardon my French!. RG who refused to play for Rovers, then struts around belittling players and staff. It will all come out eventually. Whats happening about CEO?

If you think a 32 year old analyst, or a someone with u15s level academy coaching experience is a huge step up on Jordan, then that’s up to you!
