JHRover Posted 18 hours ago Author Posted 18 hours ago Really is incredible to consider that Rovers have simply washed their hands of vast swathes of Lancashire which for generations have been hotbeds of support due to one, or both, of laziness and not wanting to upset Accy Stanley/PNE/Bolton. This is not the club I once knew and keep this up within another decade or two self-destruction will be complete. 5 Quote

Tomphil2 Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago The postcode thing is bizarre it really warrants further investigation and explanation from those who allegedly dreamt it up. Where i hail from Rovers was always the main team, the 'local' team as Ewood is about 3-4 miles away as the crow fly's and a 15 min car journey straight there. Yet we had a Chorley address and obviously PR postcode but a Blackburn phone code so now i presume these albeit small but staunch Rovers strongholds don't matter any more ? Oh let PNE flog their cheap season tickets around there instead and round up the kids or maybe Horwich Wanderers if they fancy it after they've had free reign over Chorley in recent years. The contempt these lot at Ewood have shown to the general fanbase it's no wonder they get it in return. I'm beginning to think the plan now is to have a very small club very cheap club operating at whatever level it can and that only appeals to those few who refuse to give it up whatever the cost and a 'new' tiny generation of fans from Blackburn. Why would that be ? 1 Quote
Mattyblue Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago I used to think they were just being disingenuous with this ‘BwD focus’ as their own database would tell them that the majority of fanbase certainly now resides outside the town of Blackburn if not the borough as a whole… but that post from Mike about them not knowing which post codes are even in BwD sums up what we are dealing with 1 Quote

Why would that be ? Less hassle for them and the local Police? Certainly seemed to be Waggott's MO and the trend hasnt been reversed since he left. 1 Quote

Why would that be ? They've realised they made a huge blunder buying the Club and were robbed blind by advisors, they are no longer interested in the club but won't face the reality of their stupidity and sell. So we carry on with them hoping to break even by selling our best players and gambling on covering the losses cheaply. That's the only explanation I can come up with. What could go wrong? 2 Quote

Mattyblue Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago Low crowds due to years of going nowhere due to poor ownership and management coupled with high prices is not a boycott. 7 Quote
GHR Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago (edited) I wonder what will happen when BwD is scrapped and the councils of there, Hyndburn, Burnely, Rossendale and Pendle (and perhaps bit of Ribble Valley) get sqished together as is proposed. We'll probably abolish marketing altogether. Edited 14 hours ago by GHR Quote
Mattyblue Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago Yeah Blackburn and Darwen obviously now Burnley marketing territory - they are a PL club, after all. Quote
JHRover Posted 13 hours ago Author Posted 13 hours ago I'm surprised we still make any effort in Darwen. What do Darwen FC have to say about us encroaching on their patch? 1 Quote

There's a 5 a side team from Mellor that play on Wednesday nights. Best not encroach on their territory. Quote

I'm not fan of midweek evening games given I work nights but I knew that when I started working nights some years ago Quote

roversfan99 Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Obviously it doesnt affect the man who has absolutely no other committments. But 12.30 kick offs are certainly a huge inconvenience for many. Kids playing football in a morning will be a huge one where subsequently it is impossible or at least incredibly difficult to then get to Ewood by half 12. Its absolutely ridiculous that there are now 8 games (1 Premier League, 3 Championship, 2 League 1 and 2 League 2) all on in that time slot. Its a total disregard shown by clubs for agreeing to this and then obviously Sky for arranging them. Why do people need so many games in that time slot when you can only watch 1 at once? You see random games like Wimbledon v Lincoln, Stanley v Salford, Norwich v Preston etc just as add ons, I would love to know how many neutrals will choose games like that out of a choice of 8. Quote

Try working a night shift off 5 hours instead 8 hours. 10 minutes ago, roversfan99 said: Its absolutely ridiculous that there are now 8 games (1 Premier League, 3 Championship, 2 League 1 and 2 League 2) all on in that time slot. Still banging on about this after a year. PL is different League competition so has no baring of EFL games Quote
