Herbie6590 Posted Saturday at 07:32 Posted Saturday at 07:32 I’ve asked them to add this one to their directory as “The 4000 Holes” 😆 https://www.ryderamies.co.uk/scarves/shop/create-your-scarf/ Quote

Popular Post Mike Graham Posted Saturday at 07:52 Popular Post Posted Saturday at 07:52 As stated on the LT thread I will be in self imposed exile for the Derby game. I was at Ewood for the 100th anniversary season as part of the ‘Leyland Blues’. This is me on the pitch (note: I suspect the club may use this as an excuse to ban me from Ewood Park for this pitch incursion): I was there for the 125th anniversary and have continued ever since apart from 2 seasons when I boycotted but donated my ST to a refugee charity in Blackburn (I never published this before). The club, sorry my club, is rotting from the head down. For someone with an emotional contract with Rovers it is painful to watch. It is run by folk with no emotional contract; they do not engage, it is all one way. Enough is enough. I am not going along to what will be a 3rd rate farce. I even heard from my club contacts that they were thinking of presenting Steve Kean with one of those silly flat caps - if / when Rovers staff members read this please deny this will be the case. Alternatively please go ahead; it will be your downfall. 18 Quote

arbitro Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Don't shoot the messenger here but I have been told that plans are being drawn up to play Old Etonians in a celebratory match to mark our 150 year anniversary. Rovers will be represented by a veterans team. The plans are to play the match at Ewood after the Derby County match which is a 12.30 kick off. Old Etonians play in the Arthurian League, something probably akin to the West Lancs League. https://www.arthurianleague.co.uk/etonians.html Quote

Better idea would be to do it the following Saturday on the international break wouldn't it? 2 Quote
StHelensRover Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Not many will be sticking around to watch that if we get beaten by Derby. 1 Quote

It smacks of laziness but overriding that would be the cost of bringing a proper team to play at Ewood. Quote

A Rovers legends side against a side that played a part in our very early history, the game doesn't bother me so much. Just think playing it after a game like the Derby game which could be a huge humilation with all our ex staff and players taking the piss out of us is a daft decision. 1 Quote
Mattyblue Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Post game even after a win would see very few hanging round, get beat and it will be a very bleak ‘event’ (which is fitting, I suppose). Not sure why there’s a need for a game at all. A pre-season friendly to mark it, fine. But a game of 50 odd year olds against some amateurs in an empty ground in November, err ok. 2 Quote

Utterly pointless/meaningless, if true (no reason to doubt it). The way we are going, there will be no one in the ground anyway, and a loss to Derby would be a fitting way to see the back of that lot. What more humiliation do they need to feck off? Quote
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago We might win that game you know...they look like a pub side! Quote
JHRover Posted 30 minutes ago Posted 30 minutes ago It's just the low hanging fruit again. Cheap and easy. Play it straight after the Derby game so there's no significant additional costs in opening Ewood/getting staff and stewarding on. Play Old Etonians it requires no effort or cost to bring them here for it. Is there supposed to be some particular relevance to playing them? I mean I know we played them in an FA Cup final but didn't we lose to them? So it isn't even a commemoration of a famous historical success. Are we now really at the stage of playing a game against an amateur outfit from the other end of the country who happen to share the same name as a team we lost to in an FA Cup final 140 years ago? Seems a bit tenuous to me. Quote
Mattyblue Posted 20 minutes ago Posted 20 minutes ago Come on now, Blackburn Olympic beat then though, so close enough, especially as half of the ChatGPT generated PR about the 150th has been about the borough of Blackburn anyway. Quote
