Figured I'd start a topic for this seeing as it starts tonight. 

Anyone else planning on watching this? I reckon it's gonna be a really good tournament, I think teams are going to take it seriously. I feel no affinity towards City or Chelsea so I've decided to follow Bayern for the tournament seeing as our England captain is leading the line.

Looking forward to seeing Messi tonight on the world stage again.

So you're following Bayern München that are managed by the ex dingle?

Personally I have no interest in this Mickey Mouse sham competition.

It's was decent game..

Inter Miami would have lost with their 38 year old keeper Oscar Ustari making saving good saves including a penalty save. 

Tho Al Alhy keeper made a great save in the last 5 mins..

 

I will watch some games like the City and Chelsea ones plus some others

Match kick off times are favourable for me so I'll probably watch a few games but won't go out of my way to make sure that I'm sat in front of a TV for any particular fixture.

US TV is promoting it well but tickets sales are low. Add in the US government's declaration that immigration officers will be present to aid security at stadiums means that I doubt they'll sell what they projected.

Bayern Munich v Auckland......Give me strength. Just noticed it's 10-0 at the moment.

They were saying on Talksport earlier that half the Auckland team couldn't make it over to the USA. Either they weren't allowed time off work or they couldn't afford to travel over to the US as allegedly the travel costs were double the Club's annual budget.

That's not a competitive football match, it's a piss take.

Yeah I think they'll need to rethink how teams qualify for the tournament for next time round, if you want the tournament to be taken seriously you cant have teams ranked 5074 in the world taking part while the likes of Liverpool and Barcelona sit at home.

Yep. In the World Cup you can have teams from across the globe and still be ‘competitive’.

But this is different. Almost 75% of the New Zelaland national side play abroad. In the UK some of them play for the likes of Reading,  Burton and Mansfield.  Therefore what does that tell you of the quality of players who still ply their trade at home for Auckland City?

And yet here they are.

Nothing but a cash grab to push football deeper into the American market and eventually leave all the non-'elite' clubs further behind. A pre season spaff fest for people who think football was invented in 1992 and TV.

It's on C5 at 19:00. Kick off isn't till 20:00.

Some games clash with the U21 tournament.
