In good from Charlton.

Our lads will all be flued up from Saturday and feeling sorry for themselves as they will have to replay the game.

It seems we’ve had very few midweek games so far, is there less this season or are they just bunched up together?

---------------Toth

Alebiosu--Miller--Wharton--Riberio

-------Tronstad---TGH

Morishita---Cantwell----Hedges

--------------Yuki

Although, I'd like to see what Gudjohnson is all about, probably have to start the same 11 as Ipswich.

Side note, I notice that JRC doesn't feature a lot for Charlton, mostly an used sub and has only come off the bench twice so far, playing just 5mins across both appearances.

After this week, there are only 3 free midweeks until January, one to be taken up by the rearranged ipswich game.

Jesus! I mean any excuse to put a negative spin on things but you're surely having a laugh with this one. If anything the players will be rite up for this after Saturday.  Bar a poor 45 minutes against Norwich, we've looked solid these past few games.

If we put the same away performances as Hull & Watford then we should be confident...Charlton arnt a very good side.

Put in the same effort as we have been then we should get a result. Charlton, if anything, will be organised but they don't have any reaI standout quality...Apter is a tricky winger but nothing to be concerned about.

Personally think this will be our first draw.

Away pubs @ Charlton? Last time I went (PROMOTION PARTY) the pub across from the train station had been closed due to a smoke bomb being let off by some Rovers fans!

Was a hell of a day out though wasn't it?

I'm predicting a 1-1 draw for this. Gudjohnsen to get his first Rovers goal.

Predicted team

                         Toth

Alebiosu   Miller   Wharton    Ribeiro

          G-Hickman   Tronstad

Morishita      Cantwell       Hedges

                  Gudjohnsen

I just think, away from home especially Rovers could do with Gudjohnsen leading the line, with a bit more strength than Ohashi has. Love Yuki, but I'd have him come on as sub for this one. McLoughlin also unfortunate to not come back in after suspension, but would be harsh on Miller or Wharton to drop either of them them.

I have never got this harsh thing, the manager should pick his best team. Does he wait for someone to have a stinker and give away points before reverting to his best eleven ?

Haha I was drunk by the time we got off our train. Ended up in a home fans pub singing about Charlie Mulgrew - we didn't leave a good impression. BTW Caddis was shocking and I told him so!!

I think everyone was smashed before kick off.. remember half of the fans packed into the Sainsburys buying anything and everything that had an alcoholic % on the label.

When wasn't Caddis shocking!

Thought Miller was really good. No sign of being uncomfortable in a back four at all.

Against Ipswich and Watford we looked really well drilled defensively with Mori tucking in when we were off the ball making a back five. Gave the opposition wingers absolutely nothing. Then when we were in possession Mori got forward and gave us options. Miller like Carter seemed to be able to drive out from the back too.

Have to say Ismael has a good tactical awareness where all the players know where to be in any given situation.

Fair, but do you not also need to consider form as well?

For me form is history, a good manager will look to the future, and pick his best players.

I thought Rovers put in a decent performance, in the atrocious  conditions against Ipswich. I'm thinking positive, 0-3 Rovers, Gudjohnssen off the mark.

Yeah for sure, I think that in certain scenarios where you have really standout players (like Szmodics when he was here) then yes, those types should always be first on the team sheet.

In the case of Rovers CBs that my original post was referring to, I wouldn't say McLoughlin is one of those standout players. He had a decent start to the season but was foolish to get himself sent off against Norwich. Since then Rovers have done very well defensively and not conceded a goal, so that's my logic for keeping the pairing as is.

Also sometimes need to consider the pairing of players as well. Some players have better chemistry on the pitch than others. I think its too early to say which CB pairing has the best chemistry in this team.
