Im pretty sure we will lose it.

I think Sheff U are struggling to score, but think they will get at least one and as we know, we are toothless.

Hands are tied I think for this one.  Need to play 4 at the back.  On that basis I'd go for a 4-3-2-1 and be compact.

Toth

Abeliousu Wharton McLoughlin Ribiero

G-Hickman Tronstad Hedges

And then the front 3 is where it gets messy as were poor.  Do we try and play a game of football with a 3 of Morashita, Ohashi + a.nother?  Do we go lump it with Henriksson, Gueye and Gudjohnsen? Or do we go speed over precision with Kargbo, De Neve and a.nother?

Or does it not matter at all?

Let's not get to downhearted with the Coventry result, we played well until the 2 in 3 minutes. We need to start winning our home games, it's time they rolled up their sleeves, and give the supporters a long overdue win. Coventry have had big wins against some teams higher up than us.

A win in Coventry was always going to be a big ask, a win at home to a poor Sheffield united... well, we shouldn't need to ask. Lose this and we arent coming back to form any time soon.

They are in a false position and they have a manager who knows how to rinse blood out of stones.

A moral boosting win on Saturday will see them turn up thinking their season is finally kick starting.

Expect same old same old from us in front of about 10k home fans.

I would start with the same team.

I personally thought Ohashi and Gudjohnsson battled well yesterday, the latters time will come.

We need a win.

Think Miller is a big doubt for Tuesday, so starting with a back 3 may not be an option.

Should he be available then yes, same team to start for me.

Early goal for Sheff U and no Cantwell in our team and we all know the outcome. School yard bully with their hand on our forehead whilst we aimlessly swing away.

I would stick with the same team if possible. If not and Miller than I would start with Tom Atcheson or Kristi Montgomery at right centre back. Shame Carter not ready.

Sheffield played a back 3 at the weekend

not a fan personally of back 3 myself but without Cantwell I think 2 up front is the way to go

My daughter's birthday Tuesday.

Born around HT in Rovers v Birmingham 1-0 2014.

Since then, our home record on her birthdays:

0-0 Derby 2015

3-0 Portsmouth 2017

1-0 Cardiff 2023

4 matches, 5 goals scored, 0 conceded.

I'm staying confident the streak will continue, at least a clean sheet, I reckon 0-0 or 1-0 win.

Youd actively choose Kristi Montgomery to start as a centre back?

Of course not but if we want to keep a back 3 and Carter or Miller not fit then selecting either Atcheson or Montgomery are the options.

ideally I would like to go 4-2-3-1  as that is always my preferred formation

Surely considering we only have 2 fit centre backs, you play a back 4 rather than shoehorning a sub par central midfielder into a back 3.

do we know that Miller isn't fit?

also I have said I'm not in favour of 2 left footed as centre back pairing and that yesterday we fine playing 3 at the back and created chances

If Carter or Miller was fit I would be tempt to go 4-2-3-1

Play me and I’d battle well, but I’d still be shit. Gudjohnsen has yet to show he has the ability for this level. See “Telalovic”

If you insist on playing 3 at the back you go with Pickering. He’s done it before with some success.

He wasn’t on the bench yesterday though so either he’s injured or spoken out against Rudy’s bullying or Big Val’s birthday bash.

I just cant fathom the logic behind sticking in a young midfielder who isnt good enough full stop, in at a position he is unfamiliar with, purely to have a right footer at centre back.

Ismael 4th Sept 2025: "I know there were a lot of questions about our centre-back and why we lost one. But we knew, or I knew, that with Hayden, Scott, Lewis and Sean, we were really, really strong in that position."

Do you still think the same, 19th Oct 2025, Valerien?

Managed decline, combined with outright stupidity, has never really been a formula for success.
