Andy Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Could be absolutely nothing and there may even be an event of some kind on down at Ewood - but I can see from my house that the floodlights are on right now. Possibly doing some related to a new manager - interviews / stadium visit / photoshoot? 2 1 Quote
roverandout Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Thinking about robbie savage. I'd definitely be ok with him. He wouldn't take any shit from the players. He'd be a real character on the touchline 3 Quote

Comes into the "Don't touch with a bargepole" category for me after his performance at Southampton. I guess you need to look at what he’s done in France and Belgium rather than judging him on just Southampton. Quote

Why does that completely outweigh everything that he had done previously? 1 Quote
Guy N. Cognito Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Savage would be barmy to come here. If he plays his cards right, he will get a better offer at L1 or Championship side that isn't a complete basketcase. 1 Quote
Lancaster Rover Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Will Still has done brilliantly considering it all started with a course at Myerscough College. Pushed himself way outside of his comfort zone and chased a career. His record in France and Belgium is excellent, Southampton was a bad choice of club given where they were at on the back of a year of getting whalloped 3 Quote
Tomphil2 Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago If there is one bad spell but good stuff wherever else they've been it's a better omen than being poor and sacked everywhere else they've been. Aside from one good season somewhere 5 years ago. 1 Quote
Hasta Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago 4 minutes ago, Eddie said: You're obsessed with this short spell. Why does that completely outweigh everything that he had done previously? I’d be very wary about his methods adapting to English football. 2 wins in 13 when he was in charge. 8 wins from 17 since he left. Southampton clearly picked up after he left. Bringing him in in this scenario when we need an instant impact would be foolish. 3 Quote
Lancaster Rover Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Savage isnt doing s brilliant job at FGR, Jimmy McNulty and Luke Garrard are all comfortably outperforming him 1 Quote
sharpysharps86 Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Will Still clearly has some managerial ability or he wouldn't have done well over in France and Belgium....BUT he took the wrong job over here in Southampton - immediate pressure to bounce back to the prem at the first attempt and a greater need to hit the ground running. He would've been better off taking a less pressuring gig like Swansea or Hull, where he'd likely have been given more time to get to grips with the Championship and continue to build his reputation. Not sure Rovers at this moment in time is a good fit for him though. 1 Quote
davulsukur Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago (edited) 25 minutes ago, Eddie said: You're obsessed with this short spell. Why does that completely outweigh everything that he had done previously? He left Reims after getting only 2 wins in his last 14 games. Suggests it fell apart after an initial good start. He only managed 22 games, at 2 different clubs before that, so not really a good measure of how he would have panned out over the longer term. 37 games at Lens, looks to be successful stint, obviously left due his wife's health issues. Only managed 16 games with only 4 wins before being rightly binned off by Southampton. Gotta remember he's only 33 as well and has was never a professional footballer, not that you have to be, but it would certainly help. It's a no from me as well. Edited 1 hour ago by davulsukur Quote

Why would I judge him by anything other than his spell in the same League that we're in? What he may or may not have done in the Lower Leagues in France is frankly completely irrelevant. Not sure what he's done in Ligue 1 but obviously it didnt translate over here. Edit: It would appear from Wiki that in Ligue 1 he took over a team that had finished 7th the previous season and left them in 8th a year later. Sounds solid rather than earth shattering. alexanders Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Maybe it’s been said, but Leam Richardson has been linked. Never heard of him. Quote
joey_big_nose Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago (edited) Taking a punt on robbie savage to me seems like a great shout from Suhail and Gestedes perspective - boss who will gett immediate buy in from the fans, would definitely take the job. But hes a bigger character than both of them and they wont want to have to deal with that. From my perspective when you are in a relegation fight promoting someone 3 divisions to become your manager to dig you out is a very confident thing to do.... We occasionally get linked with lower League managers (Wellens/Richardson etc) but they dont seem to be the best we could go for Quote
John Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Some of the speculation / names being mentioned must be a wind up or maybe not!? Someone suggested to me yesterday that Venky’s are punishing the fans for daring to speak against them - this can’t be bad judgement anymore. 2 Quote

But then why bother sacking Ismael at all? If they really wanted to stick it to us they'd have just left him in charge and saved themselves some money. Quote
bigbrandjohn Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago One of the questions that any canny candidates could ask is, how much of the 80 million sell on fee for Wharton when he leaves in the Summer, will I be able to spend on players? At least it would show initiative 😉 Quote
