On a more positive note re the next manager:-
We could get a decent one if he:-

Treats it as a stepping stone
Is smart enough to negotiate a good early escape route

Always a Feb release clause?

I think you can argue his only decent spell at meaningful Club level was for a period at Fulham but he eventually got sacked from there as well as long ago as 2007.

Also seems to have had a decent 6 month spell at Real Sociedad before leaving in January 2008 citing "differences of opinion".

That's essentially it Club wise. Everywhere else he's been he seems to have either absolutely bombed and/or left after a very short period of time.  The Clubs he's been at since being sacked  by Sunderland in 2017 are so obscure there's not much info on them.

Im not sure how to gauge his time with Wales nor am I sure how relevant it is to Club football.

He reached the 2016 Euros with prime Gareth Bale and some other very good players in the side but either side of that he became the first Welsh manager ever to start off with 5 successive defeats and failed to qualify for the 2018vWorld Cup and resigned.

Just me being a knob and everyone else is wrong though.

The knob comment was accusing me of fishing for a reaction which you know isn't true.

Apologise though.

No worries.

I agree with your suggestions above Bilic and Rowett. Probably the best of those mentioned.

I remember sitting next to Ainsworth’s brother at a wedding 5 or so years ago, he was adamant that Rovers wanted him then but wouldn’t pay Wycombe compo so they wanted him to walk away and he didn’t want to do that.

I've met him a few times on nights out.

QPR his number 1 job

Rovers his second.

I really dont get this idea of speeding up or slowing down dependant on each result under Johnson.

Imagine if we had spoke to a candidate(s) and then fobbed them off for a week after a win. Cant work like that.

It shouldnt be a mad panic but it should be and remain until solved a pressing, urgent priority.

Pasha obviously thinks having no CEO is acceptable and a great cost saving measure.

Why bother with a manager when we have a Head of Football Operations who can pick the team and a coach to take training ?

Why bother with a team!

It depends how good the candidate is.

If Bilic says he's willing to come Im snapping his arm off at the elbow regardless of what Johnson's done to that point.

If the only candidate whose said he's willing to come at that point is say Coleman (apologies MB) Im fobbing him off and giving Johnson another week at least until I can find someone decent.

I'm not "endorsing" anyone as such, I'm just surprised at the negativity , I'll get behind whoever gets it.

Same old same old, so many say who they don't want but won't say who they do want.

Nothing changes.

Have you just woken up from a coma?

There’s negativity because are owners are useless and sold all our best players, while driving away two very good managers and replacing them with a dud who’s just left the club.

I’d like a good manager, but I don’t think Rudy or Pasha are capable of hiring one.

I did originally say unless someone is already lined up.

I didn't actually realise that QPR is a week on Saturday, I assumed it was midweek, which does change things a bit,it's more of a stretch.

That  said, if we do happen to win at Norwich and the managerial stars aren't aligning, then there's no problem for me in leaving it to Johnson at QPR and trying to eek out another important result.

If the best candidate at any part of process is Chris Coleman then something has gone horribly wrong. He shouldnt be under consideration.

Are you OK?

It was a conversation about Coleman's managerial record, not about the world's ills. I'm surprised you didn't throw Mandelson into the mix.

Was just exaggerating to illustrate a point but it still stands.

I know you're very much not in favour of it but IF Johnson happened to stay until the end of the season and kept us up do you think we'd then be more attractive to potential candidates?

Its a big if. He simply shouldnt be just left to be caretaker for the rest of the season. It would be lunacy.

The thing is, as bad as we know we are, there are only 2 spots available and one of those is almost certainly to be taken by Oxford. So its 1 from 5 or 6.

I didn't say for the rest of the season though, all I said originally was see how he goes and ride the wave if there is one to ride.

If he hadn't won on Tuesday that would have been that, same goes at Norwich. But if he wins on Saturday we might just have something going. Why not maximise the situation?

I have never ever said announce him permanently until the end of the season. That would indeed be lunacy.

All Im saying is IF Johnson is doing well in the meantime, Id rather bide my time on a game by game basis than appoint someone crap purely for the sake of making someone permanent.

So are we more attractive with Championship status assured in summer?  Maybe not so much, I dont know.

Given the names being bandied about, I wouldn’t disagree. Just listened to Damien on Radio Lancs tonight and came across well and most importantly, he is Rovers, through and through.

I actually think Tuesday's team selection was a gamble with Norwich in mind.

You're continually surprised at the "negativity", its what you do.

It isn't is it when compared to what is being banded about, despite being ill he still has a better recent cv than a lot of the misty eyed stuff.

And a better resume at this level than most of them, we need to start dealing in facts i'm afraid.

He has better players on higher wages. He should have taken us up but he never even made the play-offs.

well, well the February change of head coach happened again.

My choice would be Lincoln head coach Michael Skubala or Lech Poznan Niels Frederiksen.

Skubala doing an excellent job at Lincoln, tactical good and developing young players.

Frederiksen is tactically adaptable, was Denmark under 21 in his career and his win percentage is good in every job he has had.

I am happy with Damien Johnson as interim head coach, he is good guy, liked by the players I believe and know them well. I believe he doesn't want to head coach, so he isn't an option.

I think we ended up with Lee Bowyer(who Alan Nixon and Ian Battersby mentioned on Radio Lancs Monday night as option for us) or someone like Marti Cifuentes or Alan Sheehan. I don't see Bilic wanted this job long term. I can't see Gary Rowett being interested in the job
