Absolutely correct. I know a guy who works as a video scout for Villa (having previously been with 'that' lot - I won't hold it against him as his allegiance is with Liverpool) He literally spends all day watching football videos with the occasional trip out if there's a game of interest locally (ie Ewood, PNE, etc). It's amazing talking to him, how much he knows about players I haven't even heard of. He'll then recommend the ones to watch etc, including academy lads, and he's part of a team of about half a dozen. I got talking to him about Ash Philips a couple of months ago & he said they'd been watching him for over 12 months and they certainly weren't the only ones.

Definitely! Be good to see a young lad putting his career ahead of a fast buck. Similar to what Jude Bellingham did. I think the devil will be in the finer detail of the contract regarding release clauses etc. But great for us if he puts pen to paper & ensures we can recoup a half decent fee in the future.

Just to detract from the Ash Philips debate for a moment - I've seen that Liam Delap is going to Stoke on loan (pending a medical this afternoon). Wouldn't have minded him here as a different option up front (obviously not in place of Ben if he leaves us)

@JoeH you posted in another topic than Ben's 1v1 against Swansea had an xG of 0.21 which seems quite low to me. Is this low as it takes onto account when & where he picked the ball up? If it does, that would make more sense to me as he had a lot of work to do to get into that 1v1 situation. Also interesting that both goals on Sunday were scored from outside the box with both players 'weaker foot' which would obviously result in quite a low xG.
