  1. I think we definitely would've done. However, conversely, I think that Utd would've won it in '95 had Cantona not been banned for his infamous 'Kung-Fu Kick' at Selhurst Park. Our form at the end of that season seriously tailed off when the pressure was on.
  2. Oh undoubtedly. I think the main difference now is the weight stays the same whatever the weather, plus the material isn't as harsh to kick or head as there'll be more give in it. The lack of laces also helps! πŸ˜„
  3. As I posted on the previous page 😜 Yes, it surprised me after a few of us got in a discussion about it in the pub one night & one smart-arse showed us all up πŸ˜†
  4. I love the discussions on the weight of footballs. I was also in the 'balls are much lighter nowadays' camp, until I was proven wrong in the pub one night (Damn you smartphones & Google!) Unbelievably, the dry weight of a regulation football has not changed since 1937. Law 2 stipulates that the dry weight of the ball should be 14-16oz (410-450g). Therefore the only thing that has changed over the years is the material it's made from making it more waterproof, aerodynamic etc. https://www.morethanmindgames.com/2010/06/26/an-enduring-football-myth-the-weight-of-the-ball/ https://www.thefa.com/football-rules-governance/lawsandrules/laws/football-11-11/law-2---the-ball#:~:text=made of suitable material,– 15.6 lbs%2Fsq in)
  5. It's the main game on Sky if you have it - or a mate/relative that does.
  6. If I get it, do I get my money back? Only joking & tbf I haven't got a F*cking clue. Well before my time I'm afraid. @Tyrone Shoelaces will definitely know & will probably know the date & time the photo was taken & the next home game after it with results, scorers & attendance! I've never known anyone with such a recollection, first hand, of anthing Rovers related - Sir I salute you!
  7. If a match finishes with the floodlights on, you must have them on at the start of the next game even if they're not required. (Somebody told me that years ago & I believed them!)
  8. Check your Junk/Spam Folder - I thought I'd not got an email either but it was in there so I just changed permissions for the sender.
  9. Superb! Great to see some proper work being done behind the scenes and sorting it before the horse has bolted.
  10. Love it! All ordered - getting my money's worth on the size! πŸ˜… It'll make a nice accompaniment for my 1975 centenary shirt (which was also the year I was born)
  11. For those too young to appreciate @Sweaty Gussets post above: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tarka_the_Otter_(film)
  12. Just been to pick up my DJ stuff from the Gables in Leyland & the pub was packed with Sheff Utd fans on their way to Nobbers. Really pissed me off when they started singing about Adel Whatshisname for some reason. Anyway, really hope we give these lot a bloody nose today. Hate their manager & his shithouse tactics. Don't think we'll quite do that. First draw of the season, 2-2. Ayala & Diaz for us.
  13. Ref for this one is Josh Smith. Don't know much about him, but in 5 Championship games this season (incl West Brom v Brum yesterday) & 1 game in League 1, he's issued 27 yellows & 2 reds. Doesn't seem like the type to let things go looking at those numbers so there very well could be a red in this one. Just hope it's not us!
  14. Just came across this article about Dom's goal in the Coventry Telegraph, this copied tweet made me chuckle: @Fraser83Stuart: Cov fans: Why is everyone bothered about Hyam so much, it’s not like he’s Ronaldo!! Dom Hyam: *Hold My Hotpot* https://www.coventrytelegraph.net/sport/football/football-news/outrageous-dom-hyam-goal-makes-25015250
  15. Probably because he's been managing at this level for the last couple of years with Coventry πŸ˜‰
  16. I've gotta say, one of my favourite moments last night was the 'you're just a shit Ben Foster' chants which were almost instantaneous after Bachmann's 3rd attempt at taking a goal kick without the ball rolling (which it still was, I think the ref just gave up). And then again when he slipped flat on his face desperately trying to stop Choudhury's throw from going into the net - even though it wouldn't have been a goal anyway! 🀣
  17. Correct - top of the class mate!
  18. Spot on Jim. I posted similar about that sitter as you were posting.
  19. Kilgallon wasn't a bad centre half to be fair. Taylor- ginger haired winger, remember him scoring in an FA cup game, not much else. Delfouneso - pretty shite. Lives down the road from me, likes chips & gravy. Think he's still at Blackpool. Lawrence - still waiting for that shot to come down against the dingles. Hendrie, loan from WHU. Hardly played. Hart - If you just use his first initial, his name looks like a follow-through. 🀣
  20. Nope. Not him, although, when I googled him, ironically, one of the first pics that comes up is this one with Big Col. Sadly passed away in 2011 aged only 44. I'll reveal the other guy's name tomorrow if no-one gets it.
  21. Superb performance tonight. I am one happy Rover! Were Watford that bad, or did we stop them playing ? I always think that's a good debate to have, as I think sometimes we don't give our lads enough credit when it's due. We didn't give them a moment's peace to get on the ball. Anyone bar TK could lay a fair claim for MoM ( & he just had nowt to do really), but for me I'd give it Dolan with Hedges a very close second. Well done lads, a thoroughly enjoyable evening! πŸ’™πŸ€
  22. On the back of this topic, I've just been going through old squads (particularly from '83 onwards when I first started going to Ewood) to see how many blasts from the past I remembered. I then came across one name which I remembered but could think nothing else about him, other than him being a full-back. Only made 6 appearances, so unsurprising I don't remember much. Can you name him:
  23. Superb news. Good to see things seem to be improving on the contracts front.
