Remaining fixtures - Predictions

Not sure what odds you'd get on them both to make the play-offs, as they're linked and it's not just a case of multiplying them, but here are the current best prices for making the top 6: Coventry 4/7 Sunderland 11/10 Millwall 11/8 ROVERS 4/1 West Brom 13/2 Preston 25/1 Norwich 25/1 Swansea 33/1 -

That'd be a win-win for everyone. The only chance they ever have of recouping a chunk of their money is if Rovers get promoted - suddenly the club looks like a viable investment. £25m invested in the squad this year would have secured automatic promotion IMO. Appreciate there are no guarantees - but aren't they funding losses similar to that every year anyway? "A report from Deloitte states the winner will earn additional future revenues of at least £170m across the next three seasons. That sum rises significantly, to £300m across the next five campaigns, if the promoted club avoids relegation in its first season back in the top-flight." -

Reasons to be optimistic: Burnley haven’t won in their last 3. In Burnley’s last 5 away games – they’ve failed to win at Blackpool, Reading and Rotherham. Burnley have had more possession than the opposition in 40 of their 43 Championship games. Rovers have had less possession than the away team in 7 championship home games this season – winning 6 of them. Rovers have also won 5 out of 10 away from home where they’ve had less possession than the opposition. The stats suggest Rovers do better when they have less possession. Only the top 2 sides have more home wins than Rovers in the division. Burnley have failed to win more away games than they’ve won away from home. Rovers average exactly 2 points for game at home – Burnley average 1.95 away. Rovers have scored first in 15 of their 21 home games. Prediction: My heart says Rovers scrap and battle to a 1-0 win – maybe Hyam redeeming himself from weekend. My head says a game where Burnley have a lot of the ball and a game of few chances. Rovers take the lead but let it slip again and it finishes 1-1. -

That's the ultimate nightmare. Burnley win the league at Ewood, Rovers miss out on the play-offs and Mowbray gets Sunderland promoted. -
I was told this story in 2015 by someone who worked with his dad. I didn't know the name at the time - just told to keep an eye out for a 12 year old who was at Birmingham City. EDIT: And as pointed out above it was about Bellingham
-
City and Chelsea both tried to sign him when he was 12 but his family turned the move down. Chelsea offered his mum and dad £40k a year each and a house to move to London (and quit their jobs in the police). He would then have got a £1m signing on fee when he turned 17. His parents 'job' was basically to take him to training. People knew how good he was at a very young age and had tried to buy him before.

I'd be happy with that. Whilst Pears has done nothing wrong, I just feel a bit safer with Kaminski between the sticks. 5 academy lads should know how important the game is (only started 2 away) I like the look of that midfield 3. -
I'm sure Liverpool fans would love that - not having the money for Bellingham and then spending £50m on a player who has started 8 league games in his career.

v Coventry (h) 19/4/23 @ 19:45
LeftWinger replied to Sweaty Gussets's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Absolutely this. Ferguson has won 1 of his 15 games since taking over at Forest Green. Ainsworth has won 1 of his 10 games since taking over at QPR. Tomasson has won 25 from 51 since taking over at Rovers - the highest win percentage of any manager since Dalglish. He's far from the perfect manager and still learning his trade - but if we could actually have got our transfers right, we'd have comfortably made the play-offs this year. -
What's most exciting here is the age of that squad - Ayala and Dack the only outfield players over 27 - and you'd expect them to both be gone at the end of the season. Most of those players should be even better next season if we can keep hold of JDT and he can continue to nurture them. It's the core of a decent squad thanks to the academy - just need to sort our transfer policy out.

Dilan Markanday.. potential talent or ?

No need for it. Hopefully they lose the rest of their games this season - that'd be korma. -

I've still got mine - never worn with tags on as well. Can't imagine there are many of the 1,250 left in decent condition. -

Leicester are more likely to be in the Premier League than Rovers (next season). Bookies have Leicester at a best priced 9/5 to get relegated. You can get 14/1 on Rovers getting promoted. So they reckon a 64% chance of Leicester staying up and a 7% chance of Rovers going up. Even if Leicester did get relegated, you'd think they'd be in a better position to get promoted next season than Rovers. -

Nice to have our manager being linked with other jobs again. Every time a managerial vacancy came up when Hughes was here I would start to panic. Been awhile since we've had a manager that another club would even look at poaching - shows he's doing a decent job. Graham Potter now in as favourite though. -

Not sure where else to put this, but just noticed Jason Steele appears to be Brighton's keeper at the moment. How on earth has that happened? -
Emile Heskey of the Rovers

He followed that up by scoring once in his next 35 appearances for club and country. -

This is just Premier League goals as well. Pretty sure he will have scored against us outside of the Premier League as well. -
Not sure how you can say he got the second half spot on? They went from being completely dominant in the first half - to not having a single shot or corner in the second half.

Under the current stewardship it is. Like expecting Usain Bolt to still win the 100m with a broken leg. -
But they are playing City away - the absolute toughest fixture you could get. Burnley have probably got less than a 10% chance of getting to the semi finals. I'd suggest Sheffield United have probably a 60/65% chance and Rovers a 35/40% chance.
-
Can't understand why Burnley would be a shorter price than Sheffield United or Rovers personally.

I was interested to see how Mowbray stacked up against JDT at this level. I removed the League One season and included league and cup games for the seasons at Championship level. Mowbray - P212 - Won 35.8% JDT - P42 - Won 52.4% -
v Leicester City (a) - 28/02/23 (FA Cup 5th Round)

Best performance in a long, long time. 10 players from the academy in the 20 man squad 16 English players, 2 Welsh, 1 Scottish, 1 Irish (Like watching old school football again) Average age of under 23. Oldest player in the squad was 27. The work rate and pressing was absolutely phenomenal. Reading the Leicester forums and them admitted we could have scored 5 or more goals before they scored. I'd love to see what JDT could do with a bit of money to supplement our wonderful academy.
